A Synthesis of Electronically Controllable Current-Mode PI, PD and PID Controllers Employing CCCDBAs  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper presents a synthesis of current-mode PI, PD and PID controllers employing current controlled current differential buffer amplifiers (CCCDBAs). The features of these controllers are that: the output parameters can be electronically/independently controlled by adjusting corresponding bias currents in the proportional, integral, and deviation controllers; circuit description of the PID controller is simply formulated, it consists of four CCCDBAs cooperating with two grounded capacitors, and PI and PD controllers are composed of three CCCCDBAs and a grounded capacitor. Without any external resistor, the proposed circuits are very suitable to develop into integrated circuit architecture. The given results from the PSpice simulation agree well with the theoretical anticipation. The approximate power consumption in a closed loop control system consisting of the PI, PD and PID controller with low-pass filter passive plant are 4.03 mW, 4.85 mW and 5.71 mW, respectively, at ±1.5 V power supply voltages.

Abstract: This article presents an active-only current-mode universal biquad filter performing three standard functions: low-pass, high-pass and band-pass function, which can be readily modified to achieve the rest functions (band-stop and all-pass). The circuit principle is based on active-only circuit designed by using differentiators which are constructed from current controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifier (CCCCTA) cooperating with an internally frequency compensated operational amplifier (OA). The features of the circuit are that: the pole frequency and quality factor can be independently tuned via the input bias currents and it is ideally temperature-insensitive, its circuit description is very simple, consisting of 3 CCCCTAs and 2 operational amplifiers, and the proposed circuit is very appropriate for further developing into integrated circuit architecture. The PSpice simulation results are shown. The given results agree well with the theoretical anticipation.
A Current-mode Electronically Controllable Multifunction Biquadratic Filter Using CCCIIs

Abstract: This article presents a current-mode multifunction biquadratic filter performing completely standard functions low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, band-reject and all-pass functions. The circuit principle is based on second-generation current-controlled current conveyor (CCCII) with three input terminals and one output terminal. The features of the circuit are that, the pole frequency can be electronically tuned via the input bias currents. The circuit topology is very simple, consisting of merely 2 CCCIIs and 2 grounded capacitors. Without any external resistor and using only grounded elements, the proposed circuit is very comfortable to further develop into an integrated circuit architecture. The PSpice simulation results are shown. The given results agree well with the theoretical anticipation. The total power consumption is approximately 1.87mW at ±1.5V power supply voltages.
Precision Full-Wave Rectifier Using Two DDCCs  [PDF]

Abstract: A new precision full-wave rectifier employing only two differential difference current conveyors, which is very suitable for CMOS technology implementation, is presented. The proposed rectifier is the voltage-mode circuit, which offers high-input and low-output impedance hence it can be directly connected to load without using any buffer circuits. PSPICE is used to verify the circuit performance. Simulated rectifier results based-on a 0.5 µm CMOS technology with ±2.5 V supply voltage demonstrates high precision rectification and excellent temperature stability. In addition, the application of proposed rectifier to pseudo RMS-to-DC conversion is also introduced.

Abstract:

Background: Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) causes harm to the eye and skin in human. There are many ways to protect one from UVR. Umbrella is widely used due to its convenience as well as its ability to protect one from rain. However, there are limited numbers of studies on UVR protection of different types of umbrellas. Objective of study: To determine UVR protection efficacy of different umbrella designs. Methods: The experimental study was performed on five sunny days. Six manikins were placed in an open area, five of which were equipped with five different types of black canopy umbrellas. One manikin was placed without an umbrella as a control sample. Polysulfone film badges were attached in six different areas in each manikin for measuring the UVR from 10 am - 3 pm Results: All types of umbrellas provides 64.5% - 92.3% UVR photo protection efficacy. An umbrella with UV-filter coating on the inner surface provides maximum UVR photo protection efficacy. However, UVR proto protection efficacies of an umbrella with UV-filter coating on the inner surface and one with UV-filter coating on the outer surface and one without UV-filter coating are not statistically significant (p-value = 0.37). Umbrellas with a diameter of 122 cm and 152 cm provide comparable UVR photo protection efficacy while an umbrella with a diameter of 112 cm provides the least UVR photo protection efficacy. However, UVR photo protection efficacies of umbrellas with different diameter are not statistically significant (p-value = 0.36). The area of the body that received the most UVR photo protection is the forehead which is statistically significant when compared with other areas of the body (p-value < 0.001). The areas of the body that received the least UVR photo protection are the left ear and the back of the neck, which are statistically significant when compared with other areas of the body (p-value < 0.001). Conclusion: All types of umbrellas provide UVR photo protection efficacy. The study shows that umbrellas with different canvas material including both the UV-filter coating and different diameter of umbrellas could effectively protect the user from UVR without significant group difference in this study.

Abstract:

Background: Mosquito bite reaction is a common skin disease. Topical steroids and oral antihistamines are the conventional treatment. However, the side effects from prolonged use of topical steroids are the limitation of the treatment. Recently, herbal extracts are emerging interest for an alternative anti-inflammatory dermatoses therapy. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of herbal extracted gel containing, Perilla frutescens, Portulaca oleracea, Ipomoea pescaprae, Aloe vera, Centella asiatica and Broussonetia papyrifera in comparing with 1% hydrocortisone (HC) gel. Material and Methods: An experimental study was conducted on 50 mosquito bite hypersensitive volunteers (15 - 19 years old) with double-blinded split randomized control method. After the volunteers were exposed for one bite on their arms by a non-infectious mosquito, Aedes albopictus, the drugs were applied twice daily. The diameter of lesion, pruritus analog score, erythema and melanin index were measured at 2, 6, 24 hours and 2, 3, 4 weeks. The volunteers “self-satisfaction” and side effects were recorded. Results: The mean age was 17.42 ± 1.14 years old. The diameter of lesion, pruritus analog score, erythema and melanin index were decreased on both sides at each visit with significant difference (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference between two agents of all parameters and the satisfaction of the volunteers (p > 0.05). Abstract: A new voltage-mode quadrature oscillator using two differential difference current conveyors (DDCCs), two grounded capacitors, and three grounded resistors is presented. The proposed oscillator provides the following advantages: the oscillation condition and oscillation frequency are orthogonally controlled; the oscillation frequency is controlled through a single grounded resistor; the use of only grounded capacitors and resistors makes the proposed circuit ideal for IC implementation; low passive and active sensitivities. Simulation results verifying the theoretical analysis are also included.
A New Translinear-Based Dual-Output Square-Rooting Circuit

Abstract: A new wide input range square-rooting circuit is presented. The proposed circuit consists of a dual translinear loop, an absolute value circuit, and current mirrors. A current-mode technique is used to provide wide input range with simple circuitry. The output signal of the proposed circuit is the current which is proportional to the square root of input current. The proposed square-rooting circuit was confirmed by using PSpice simulator program. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed circuit provides the excellent temperature stability with wide input current range.

Abstract: This research investigation is concerned with determining how well internal collaboration and external collaboration link through logistics performance to influence on marketing performance and competitive performance of the firm. With data collected from 104 general managers from 120 available palm oil companies in southern Thailand, findings indicate that marketing performance was affected by the influence of logistics performance and by the direct and indirect influence of internal collaboration. Competitive performance was affected by external collaboration. When taking into account the role of logistics performance as a mediator, it was found that logistics performance was affected only by internal collaboration and transmitted the effects to marketing performance.
