Torna tua a heran?a de teu pai: o Nome-do-Pai na psicanálise lacaniana
Andrade Júnior, Moisés de;
Psicologia Clínica , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-56652011000200012
Abstract: this article studies some key moments in the development of the lacanian concept name-of-the-father, starting with freud’s works about the repression, demonstrating the importance of freud’s thinking for the development of the concept. three periods of his trajectory are investigated: the name-of-the-father as the incest interdiction; the name-of-the-father pluralized as establisher of the unconscious structured as a language; finally, his role in the borromean knots theory. to do so, we will investigate the transfinite mathematics, whose logic pervades some of the lacanians elaborations. the orientation of this line of thought will be the possibility of unconscious itself, taken as the repressed material, or as the articulation between significants.
Potenciais benefícios do sistema de rastreabilidade animal dos EUA para o setor de carnes americano

Revista de Economia e Sociologia Rural , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-20032008000400009
Abstract: this article investigates the potential gains to the u.s. meat sector with the implantation of the u.s. national animal identification system (nais). the focus is on the effect that the nais could have on consumers' risk perception about eating meat. system of demand equations are estimated using time series of food safety indexes variables used as proxies for consumers' reactions to news on meat safety issues. the series of food safety indexes are built on the basis of the number of food safety news reported in top u.s. newspapers. using the preferred model estimates, three scenarios are constructed in order to account for the cases wherein the nais is not implemented, is implemented only for beef and is implemented for beef and pork. the differences in the estimated total revenues for each scenario are used as a gross measure of the nais benefit for each type of meat. the main conclusion is that the gains for the beef and pork sectors would be capable of covering the costs of the nais implementation. however, this result depends on how much of these potential gains will arrive at primary producers.

Abstract: inadequate feeding and management when raising heifers are two factors that constrain dairy cattle productivity in brazil. in order to build their heads, brazilian dairy farmers must choose between three options: to raise their own heifers to breeding age, to purchase mature heifers from outside sources, or to employ a custom heifer raiser. if the dairy farmer chooses to raise his own heifers, he needs to determine the most economically rational production strategy. to aid the farmer in this determination, a mathematical model was developed to create a budget for raising a group of heifers to their recommended breeding weight. this model was embedded in a computer program making it possible to build different growth scenarios, which can be adjusted by breed, desired daily weight gain, and average weight for a given group of heifers. after contrasting the results of these generated scenarios against the purchase cost of breeding-age heifers or the cost to employ a professional to raise the heifers, it is more likely that the dairy farmer will make the most profitable decision when it comes to increasing his herd?s size. some examples this computer program?s use are presented and evaluated in this paper.

Estudos Econ?micos (S?o Paulo) , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-41612010000200008
Abstract: this work applies hedonic pricing method to estimate the implicit value of rare attributes of stamps issued during the brazilian imperial period (1843-1889), using their annual prices between years 1954 and 1988. first, estimated implicit prices are used in calculating average returns and their variance-covariance matrix. second, these results are employed in the construction of efficient portfolios using markowitz' approach. results show evidences that efficient portfolios should be composed of few stamps. moreover, we found that investing in stamps is not profitable.

Abstract: purpose: to investigate the main manifestations of dysphagia in clinical and instrumental evaluation of swallowing in children with cerebral palsy. methods: cross-sectional study of 50 children with cerebral palsy. the data collection consisted of clinical speech-language pathology evaluation and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing for the detection of the main manifestations of dysphagia present in oral preparatory, oral and pharyngeal phases of swallowing, with different food consistencies and types of cerebral palsy. results: there was no significant influence of age and type of cerebral palsy over the presence of dysphagia manifestations. the main manifestations in the clinical evaluation were: anterior premature spillage for liquids (70%); cough during swallowing of liquids (60%); decreased solid bolus formation (57.9%); presence of food residues on the oral cavity after deglutition of solids (47.4%); extended oral transit of thick food (47.1%); and presence of wet voice after swallowing of liquids (30%). the main manifestations of dysphagia in instrumental evaluation were: extended pharyngeal transit of thick food (79%); posterior premature spillage for liquids (77.5%); presence of thick food residues on the pharyngeal cavity after swallowing (58.8%); laryngeal penetration for liquids (37.5%), and tracheal aspiration for liquids (20%). laryngeal sensibility was altered in only 16% of the sample. conclusion: clinical and instrumental evaluations of swallowing are complementary and essential in the diagnosis of oropharyngeal dysphagia in children with cerebral palsy.

Revista Brasileira de Economia , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-71402001000100005
Abstract: the finishing of cattle in feedlots has been presented as a way to increase the beef meat supply in the inter-harvest as well as the cattle productivity in the state of minas gerais, brazil. this paper appraises the financial possibility of enhancing the use of the available feedlot infrastructure, considering the current commercialization form. three mutually exclusive projects are contrasted, taking into account the same facilities, different months of sales and the level of use of the infrastructure. the cash flow analysis associated with the monte carlo simulation technique is used to quantify the projects' revenue and risk. despite the financial viability observed in the intensive infrastructure use strategy, its stochastic dominance with respect to the less intensive strategy is not observed.

Journal of Transport Literature , 2008,
Abstract: This paper uses a reduced form econometric model to identify elements correlated with discounts in air fares three Brazilian airlines charge in a set of six domesic destinations flown out of the city of S o Paulo. Our dataset was built with information extrated directly from the websites of the airlines especially with the intention of empirically modelling the statistics associated with the practice of the web pricing of the airlines, namely means and variations. Obtained results show that travelling with GOL, TAM, or late in the night represent the options for lower fares. Higher fares are associated with evening departures, and connecting flights.

Abstract: increased pressure on water resources has stimulated the search for mechanisms to induce efficient water use. getting prices right is an important necessary step toward implementing such mechanisms. this article applies linear programming to estimate the translog logarithm input-distance function, estimate the willingness to pay for water, own and cross-price input elasticities, and detect technical inefficiencies of producers. in so doing, we use data on total production value, irrigated land, labor, capital, water use, and 'other inputs' obtained from 41 producers of public irrigation projects in sub medium s?o francisco river, brazil. results indicate that public policies can induce water conservation by credibly charging for water use and providing technical assistance to increase producers' technical efficiency.
