Fischer, Ivan Herman;Almeida, Aparecida Marques de;Fileti, Mirian de Souza;Bertani, Rosemary Marques de Almeida;Arruda, Maria Cecília de;Bueno, César Júnior;
Revista Brasileira de Fruticultura , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-29452010005000090
Abstract: the low productivity of yellow passion fruit is due often to the phytosanitary problems, being the collar rot caused by nectria haematococca, one of the main problems in the majority of the producing states of brazil. the disease control is basically preventive, avoiding the introduction of the pathogen in the area. so, the present work aimed at: a) evaluating the behavior of ungrafted yellow passion fruit cultivars 'afruvec', 'iac 275' and 'maguary' and 'afruvec' passion fruit grafted on five passiflora species (passiflora alata, p. maliformis, p. morifolia, p. mucronata and p. suberosa) in orchard where the disease is frequent; and b) evaluating the efficiency of chemical (copper oxychloride, prochloraz and thiabendazole) and biological products (trichoderma harzianum and trichoderma sp.) in the control of collar rot in 'afruvec' yellow passion fruit in field conditions. yellow passion fruit grafted on p. maliformis, p. suberosa and p. alata presented greater resistance to the collar rot in relation to the ungrafted yellow passion fruit. the chemical and biological products applied to the base of plants (500 ml of volume) in monthly or biweekly intervals were not efficient in reducing the disease occurrence.
Saúde do trabalhador no SUS: desafios e perspectivas frente à precariza??o do trabalho
Louren?o, Edvania ?ngela de Souza;Bertani, íris Fenner;
Revista Brasileira de Saúde Ocupacional , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0303-76572007000100011
Abstract: the objective of this study is to ponder on occupational health, searching for the meaning of work to workers' health. the premise is not to quantify, but to infer that the work conditions can generate damages to health, although this relationship is not always immediately apparent. three situations that contemplate rural and informal work, as well as child labor are discussed, using a qualitative approach. as a result, the contradiction of work is verified. it could be a synonym for sociability, but on the other hand, it is a mechanism for social exclusion, when conducted without the recognition of the workers' social and labor rights. the expansion of jobs without regulation have been observed such as the ones conducted at home or within families, or on the streets and at the waste landfills. the article ends by discussing the role of the public unified health system (sus) in the "integral assistance" to workers' health and the challenge of acting with a preventive perspective and towards occupational health promotion, in a joint effort with other public organization in this field.
A rela??o trabalho e saúde no setor cal?adista de Franca, S?o Paulo
Louren?o, Edvania ?ngela de Souza;Bertani, Iris Fenner;
Revista Katálysis , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-49802009000200004
Abstract: this paper analyzes the relation of labor and health at a specific location: the shoe industry of franca, in the interior of s?o paulo state. the discussion emphasizes the socio-historic process of this economic activity in franca, with an emphasis on the productive re-structuring which, since the 1990s, passed part of the production to the workers' residences, establishing so-called shoe stitching and cutting groups. in this way, based on empiric research, supported by visits to these establishments, interviews with workers and through presentation of a case study, the paper presents the social relations of labor that can aggravate health. nevertheless, healthcare is not considered in these informal labor relations and the unfortunate workers involved remain distant from collective bargaining and labor inspections and thus possible change.

Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-282X2004000300036
Abstract: russian romancist fiódor dostoevsky's composition, besides its extraordinary literary value, has a special importance for neurologists and epileptologists. the writer, who suffered of epilepsy, transmitted in his texts the epileptic's universe and how the pacient is perceived by the society. his novels had great influence on how epilepsy is perceived by western culture. the romance "the idiot" has as protagonist prince liev nikoláievitch míchkin, a epileptic with remarkable personality. considering the propose made by geschwind-waxman (1975) of a interictal personality syndrome in temporal lobe epilepsy, this article intends to discuss the behavioral alterations in epileptic patient, from míchkin, the main character in fiódor dostoevsky's "the idiot".

Psicologia: Teoria e Pesquisa , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-37722008000200006
Abstract: on this article, the effects of gendering conception and gender roles practices on violence (physical, psychological and sexual) against spouses are explored. four women that had registered declaration of suffering physical abuse from their partners and that still live with them were interview based on a script with search for personal data and information about marital relationship, men and women conceptions. interviews were submitted to alceste software, that was the content analysis used as a complementary method analysis. data show that gendering traditional conceptions and insubordination acts share places (such as paid work, friendships, and judgments about sexual life). these aspects, signal of women empowerment, are related to partners' aggressiveness, which were excluded of feminist debates and are trying to protect their masculinity by using violence to suppress feminine manifestations of power.

Pesquisa Operacional , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-74382009000200003
Abstract: we evaluate three bootstrap techniques for the statistical analysis of a non parametric production model for which a dea measure of efficiency is potentially affected by a set of exogenous factors. the application of interest relates to the assessment of the significance of the contextual variables income generation, processes improvement, intensity of partnerships, type and size on the technical efficiencies of embrapa's research centers. it is concluded that the bootstrap of the maximum likelihood estimator provides the best fit from the point of view of pearson correlation between observed and predicted values and is the most informative in regard to the significance of the variables considered. with the exception of size all contextual variables are statistically significant. income generation, processes improvement and intensity of partnerships are all positively associated with technical efficiency.

Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1997, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761997000600006
Abstract: in five experiments, leishmania (leishmania) major (mrho/su/59/p-strain) grew poorly when seeded in fyts medium supplemented with 15% fetal calf serum, but presented several peculiar pairs of promastigotes diametrically opposed and attached at their posterior ends (5.8-13.5%). as seen in giemsa-stained smears, a ring-like line and/or an enlargement, generally occurred at the parasite junction. a close proximity of nuclei, which sometimes were difficult to distinguish from each other, was also observed at this junction. several of these pairs appeared to be composed of fused cells in which the nuclei could be apparently fused, as shown by fluorescence microscopy to detect ?-tubulin and dna, and by scanning electron microscopy. under other culture conditions these pairs were absent or occurred at very low rates (0.2-2.2%). such pairs differ markedly from longitudinally dividing cells and resemble those described in two other leishmania species, as well as in herpetomonas megaseliae and phytomonas davidi, suggesting steps of a putative sexual process

Souza, Joseane Almeida de;Schuch, Márcia Wulff;Donini, Lorena Pastorini;Ribeiro, Mirian de Farias;
Ciência Rural , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-84782008000700040
Abstract: this research aimed to assess the effect of different types (bap, 2ip, zeatin) and concentrations (zero; five; ten μm) of cytokinin on in vitro multiplication of 'pitangueira'. the different concentrations were added to the culture medium. the medium used was wpm enriched with 100mg l-1 of myo-inositol, 30g l-1 of sucrose and solidified with agar at sixg l-1 concentration. stem segments with 3 or 4 buds, without apical meristem, were incubated into flasks containing 30ml of medium. after inoculation, the explants were kept in growth room under 16 hours photoperiod with 27μmol m-2 s-1 radiation and temperature of 25±2°c. at 45th days of cultivation, the average number of leaves and shoots and the shoot length were measured. the results showed that by using lesser concentration of bap there was better performance and less costs for in vitro multiplication of 'pitangueira'.
