Abstract: the study was motivated by observations of the routine at neonatal intensive care units (nicu), thoughts about the dichotomy between theory, discourse, and the practice of many nurses towards the newborns' parents. the objectives were to learn about nurses' experiences regarding neonatal care to newborns and their parents, and to understand how nurses experience the process of affective attachment between newborns hospitalized at nicus and their parents. this study was developed according to the social phenomenology approach of alfred schütz. study subjects were eight practical nurses who had worked at nicu of public and private hospitals. categories of experience emerged from the discourses, including human contact. the analysis revealed that nurses see themselves as the connection between parents and children, and believe they play an important role in creating the affective attachment between parent and child.
Being a nurse after having been a nursing student-worker: an approach of social phenomenology

Abstract: objective: to understand the transition from being a nurse after having been a nursing student-worker in the face-to-face relationship with other nurses from conventional graduation. methods: this is a study using qualitative approach founded on the phenomenological sociology proposed by alfred schutz. fifteen interviews were carried out, of which eight were performed with nursing student-workers, and seven with nurses who underwent conventional graduation and held supervision or leader positions in nursing units. the reports were analyzed according to this theoretical-methodological framework. results: being a nurse after having been a nursing student-worker in a world with other nurses means experiencing a transformation in not only one's everyday routines, but also one's inner being, behavior, and social relationship. conclusions: there is a need for educational organizations and hospital institutions to invest in continuous education with a view to look carefully at nursing student-workers who are studying to become a nurse.

Abstract: women's participation in decision making involving health care promotion is a right that should be respected. this study aimed to better understand the need for care and the desire to participate in delivery decisions among pregnant women in londrina, pr, brazil. this study was based on social phenomenology. the pregnant women were interviewed from august to november, 2008. statements from 14 pregnant women were analyzed and were divided into four categories: type of delivery preference; insecurity; the need for care; and decision-making in delivery. results showed that although women expressed their needs and their wish to participate in the decisions regarding their delivery, they did not find favorable conditions so that their care needs and desire to participate in delivery decisions were made possible, a fact which interferes in face-to-face relationships and impedes the right to informed choices with respect to the delivery process.

Abstract: this study focuses upon alfred schültz's social phenomenology and aims to better understand perceptions of adolescents experiencing reoccurring parenthood during adolescence and its relationship with their life projects. fifteen interviews were carried out with five fathers and ten mothers who have experienced reoccurring adolescent parenthood. five categories surfaced from the subjects' statements: contextualizing the perception about being an adolescent mother/father; experiencing losses; experiencing gains; seeking safety for the future; and experiencing an ambivalent situation. the study allowed a better understanding that reoccurring adolescent parenthood is a complex phenomenon with endless perceptive possibilities, whose diverse experiences depend on the social context which defines wishes, projects, and meanings through the distinct social classes. based on this understanding, the nurse plays a very important role as regards assisting this clientele, centered on the human/existential dimension.
Climatério e sexualidade: a compreens?o dessa interfacepor mulheres assistidas em grupo

Abstract: this qualitative study aimed to better understand the meaning attributed by women to sexuality lived experiences in the climacteric period. eight women had participated they frequented climacteric groups in a family health unit in juiz de fora - mg, brazil. the data was collected through semi-structured interviews and organized based on the convergence of speech concerning changes in sexuality. results showed that women evidence alterations in the sexual scope, characterized by vaginal dryness and reduction or absence of one's sexual libido. other factors intervene directly in her sexuality: low self-esteem, lack of dialogue, and lack of understanding by the partner. the climacteric group was a space for them that made it possible to exchange experiences, allowing greater understanding of this period. the study allows for reflection concerning women's sexual experiences in climacteric accompanied in group, understanding that the interfaces which compose are found in the bio-psycho-social sphere.

Abstract: the nurse is one of the professionals responsible for the care directed toward the physical, mental and social development of newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit. this study aimed to comprehend the experience of nurses working in a neonatal intensive care unit. data collection was performed in 2008, through interviews with 12 nurses working in public and private hospitals of the city of s?o paulo. the units of meaning identified were grouped into three categories: developing actions; perceiving their actions and expectations. the analysis was based on social phenomenology. it was concluded that the overload of activities, the reduced number of staff, the lack of materials, equipment and the need for professional improvement are the reality of the work of the nurse in this sector. to supervise the care is the possible; integral care of the newborn, involving the parents, is the ideal desired.

Abstract: Estudio centrado en la Fenomenología Social de Alfred Schültz, cuyo objetivo fue comprender la percepción que los adolescentes tienen acerca de la paternidad y la maternidad recurrente y la relación con sus proyectos de vida. Para el estudio fueron entrevistados cinco padres y diez madres recurrentes. De las declaraciones surgieron cinco categorías: contextualizando la percepción de ser padre/madre adolescente; viviendo las pérdidas; experimentando beneficios; buscando seguridad para el futuro y experimentando una situación ambivalente. El estudio permitió comprender que la paternidad/maternidad del adolescente recurrente es un fenómeno complejo, con una infinidad de posibilidades, cuyas diversas vivencias dependen del contexto social que define los deseos, los proyectos y las significaciones en las distintas clases sociales. Con base en ese entendimiento, el enfermero tiene una posición de preeminencia para asistir esta clientela, centrándose en la dimension humana/existencial.

Abstract: La participación de la mujer en la toma de decisiones y en las acciones para promover la salud, es un derecho que debe ser respetado. Este estudio trata de comprender la necesidad de cuidado y el deseo de participar en las decisiones sobre el parto de las mujeres embarazadas residentes en Londrina-PR. Es una investigación basada en la fenomenología social. Las embarazadas fueron entrevistadas en el período de agosto a noviembre de 2008. Se analizaron 14 declaraciones, lo que resultó en la formación de cuatro categorías: preferencia por el tipo de parto, inseguridad, necesidad de atención y toma de decisiones en el parto. Los resultados mostraron que a pesar de desear participar de su parto y de verbalizar sus necesidades, opciones y preferencias, las mujeres no encontraron condiciones favorables para que sus necesidades de atención y el deseo de participar en las decisiones sobre el parto sean viabilizadas; hecho que interfiere en las relaciones cara a cara e impide el derecho a la elección informada en relación al parto.
Climatério e sexualidade: a compreens o dessa interface por mulheres assistidas em grupo

Abstract: El objetivo de este estudio, de carácter cualitativo, fue comprender el significado atribuido por la mujer a las experiencias vividas en relación a la sexualidad en el climaterio. Participaron ocho mujeres que frecuentaron grupos de climaterio en una Unidad de Salud de la Familia, en Juiz de Fora - MG. Los datos fueron recolectados por medio de entrevistas parcialmente elaboradas, y organizados a partir de la convergencia de los discursos sobre los cambios en la sexualidad. Los resultados mostraron que la mujer evidencia alteraciones en la vida sexual, caracterizadas por la sequedad vaginal y la disminución o ausencia de la libido sexual. Otros factores que interfieren directamente en su sexualidad son: baja autoestima, falta de diálogo e incomprensión del compa ero afectivo. El grupo de climaterio fue para ellas un espacio que les posibilitó el intercambio de experiencias, permitiéndoles una mayor comprensión de ese momento. El estudio aporta reflexiones acerca de la vivencia de la sexualidad de la mujer en el climaterio, entendiendo que las interfaces que la componen están en la esfera biopsicosocial.
Vivenciando o cuidado no contexto de uma casa de parto: o olhar das usuárias

Abstract: in brazil, the delivery and birth care model in brazil has been the topic of many studies and discussions about introducing obstetric practices that take women's autonomy into account in the parturition process. birthing centers propose models that represent a new scenario to deliver such care. the objective of this was to understand the experience of women in labor in the context of a birthing center located in the city of s?o paulo. data was collected from march to october 2007 and analyzed according to the alfred schütz social phenomenology framework. seven women participated in this study. results showed that women choose the birthing center expecting to receive humanized care and that, within this context, they have positive and negative experiences. it is imperative to discuss public policies for delivery care, as well as its implementation and impact on perinatal health indicators.
