Pixel Discontinuity Repairing for Push-Broom Orthorectified Images  [PDF]

Abstract:

Pixel discontinuity in orthoimages occurs frequently due to altitude variations in the pitch and heading of an airplane, and low performance of real-time analyzing software. This study proposes a scheme to resolve pixel discontinuity. The proposed scheme includes the following steps: 1) capture images by a self-made hyperspectral imager; 2) determine the pixel locations of orthoimages using a top-down approach; 3) repair discontinuities by the Nearest Neighbor (NN) or Bilinear Interpolation (BL) approaches; and, 4) perform a dynamic range adjustment on the orthoimages, according to the maximum pixel value of the raw images and orthoimages. After applying the proposed scheme, this study found that pixel discontinuity was eliminated by both approaches, and that the software dependability and image quality were improved substantially. In addition, the computational efficiency of the NN approach was roughly two minutes faster than that of the BL due to its simpler computation. However, BL produces smoother image edges for landscapes.

Magnesium Enhances Exercise Performance via Increasing Glucose Availability in the Blood, Muscle, and Brain during Exercise

Abstract: Glucose mobilization and utilization in the periphery and central nervous system are important during exercise and are responsible for exercise efficacy. Magnesium (Mg) is involved in energy production and plays a role in exercise performance. This study aimed to explore the effects of Mg on the dynamic changes in glucose and lactate levels in the muscle, blood and brain of exercising rats using a combination of auto-blood sampling and microdialysis. Sprague-Dawley rats were pretreated with saline or magnesium sulfate (MgSO4, 90 mg/kg, i.p.) 30 min before treadmill exercise (20 m/min for 60 min). Our results indicated that the muscle, blood, and brain glucose levels immediately increased during exercise, and then gradually decreased to near basal levels in the recovery periods of both groups. These glucose levels were significantly enhanced to approximately two-fold (P<0.05) in the Mg group. Lactate levels in the muscle, blood, and brain rapidly and significantly increased in both groups during exercise, and brain lactate levels in the Mg group further elevated (P<0.05) than those in the control group during exercise. Lactate levels significantly decreased after exercise in both groups. In conclusion, Mg enhanced glucose availability in the peripheral and central systems, and increased lactate clearance in the muscle during exercise.
Expression of tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-1β genes in the cochlea and inferior colliculus in salicylate-induced tinnitus

Abstract: Forty-eight 3-month-old male SAMP8 mice were randomly and equally divided into two groups: salicylate-treated and saline-treated. All mice were trained to perform an active avoidance task for 5 days. Once conditioned, an active avoidance task was performed 2 hours after daily intraperitoneal injections of saline, either alone or containing 300 mg/kg sodium salicylate. Total numbers of times (tinnitus score) the mice climbed during the inter-trial silent period for 10 trials were recorded daily for 4 days (days 7 to 10), and then mice were euthanized for determination of mRNA expression levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, and NR2B genes in cochlea and IC at day 10.Tinnitus scores increased in response to daily salicylate treatments. The mRNA expression levels of TNF-α increased significantly for the salicylate-treated group compared to the control group in both cochlea (1.89 ± 0.22 vs. 0.87 ± 0.07, P < 0.0001) and IC (2.12 ± 0.23 vs. 1.73 ± 0.22, p = 0.0040). mRNA expression levels for the IL-1β gene also increased significantly in the salicylate group compared to the control group in both cochlea (3.50 ± 1.05 vs. 2.80 ± 0.28, p < 0.0001) and IC (2.94 ± 0.51 versus 1.24 ± 0.52, p = 0.0013). Linear regression analysis revealed a significant positive association between tinnitus scores and expression levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, and NR2B genes in cochlea and IC. In addition, expression levels of the TNF-α gene were positively correlated with those of the NR2Bgene in both cochlea and IC; whereas, the expression levels of the IL-1β gene was positively correlated with that of the NR2B gene in IC, but not in cochlea.We conclude that salicylate treatment resulting in tinnitus augments expression of the TNF-α and IL-1β genes in cochlea and IC of mice, and we suggest that these proinflammatory cytokines might lead to tinnitus directly or via modulating the NMDA receptor.Tinnitus is the perception of sound in the absence of acoustic stimulation. Abstract: AIM: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) of “Neiguan” (PC6) and “Gongsun” (SP4) on pathological changes of the heart and stomach in rats with acute myocardial ischemia (AMI), and to explore its underlying mechanism.METHODS: Fifty Wistar rats were randomized into control, model, PC6, SP4 and PC6 + SP4 groups (n = 8 each group). An AMI model was established by occlusion of the descending anterior branch (DAB) of the left coronary artery. ECG-ST of cervico-thoracic lead and electrogastrogram (EGG) were recorded. EA was applied to PC6, SP4 and PC6 + SP4 groups, respectively. At the end of experiments, the rats were transcardically perfused with 4% paraformaldehyde, and the heart base myocardium, gastric antrum and duodenum tissues were sampled, sectioned and stained with a reduced form of nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH)-diaphorase histochemical method for displaying nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity.RESULTS: After AMI, ECG-ST values elevated. After EA, the elevated ECG-ST values at 20 min in PC6 group, at 30 min in PC6 + SP4 and SP4 groups had no significant differences in comparison with their respective basal values before AMI. Following AMI, the amplitude and frequency of slow waves of EGG decreased remarkably (P < 0.05). At 30 min after EA, the mean amplitude and frequency of slow waves of EGG in the three EA groups had no marked differences compared with their individual basal levels and those in the control group. After AMI, the mean integral grey values of NOS-positive product in myocardium, gastric antrum and duodenum tissues in the model group increased remarkably in comparison with the control group, while those in three EA groups were lower than those in the model group. No significant differences were found in ECG-ST and EGG improvement among the three EA groups. However, EA of PC6 had a better effect on ECG-ST and EA of PC4 had a better effect on EGG, respectively.CONCLUSION: EA of PC6, SP4 and PC6 + SP4 can significantly promote the recovery of cardiac and gastric electrical activities after AMI, and up-regulate NOS expression in myocardium, gastric antrum and duodenum tissues.

Abstract: The hydrostatic pressure coefficient of gold acceptor levels Er in Silicon was measured by transient capacitance method. Under the pressure range of 0-8 Kbar, thepressure coefficient (?(Ec-ET))/(?P) =-1.9 meV/kbar. The electron capture cross section of gold acceptor centers does not depend on pressure within the experimental accuracy. By comparing the present result of hydrostatic pressure coefficient with the uniaxial pressure coefficient reported in 13], we conclude that the defect potential is lack of Td symmetry. Therefore, the gold acceptor levels are not originated by simple gold substitutional or interstitial configuration in Si crystals.

Abstract: Cu2+-doped ZnO nano-rod powders (0–6mol%) were prepared via solvothermal method. The crystal and micro-morphology of the doped ZnO nano-rods were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The effects of Cu2+ dopant and the thermal condition (reaction temperature and duration) on the gas sensitivities of ZnO nano-rods were studied. The gas sensing properties of pure ZnO nanorod sensor and 3mol% Cu2+-doped ZnO nano-rod sensors to formaldehyde, acetic acid, toluene, ethanol, acetone and trimethylamine were also studied. The results show that the micro-morphology of ZnO powders are nano-rods, the lengths and diameters of ZnO nanorods change with the variation of the Cu2+ concentration. The sensor based on 3mol% Cu2+-doped ZnO nano-rods exhibits high response and good selectivity to dilute ethanol, the responses to 1×10-3 ethanol and 1×10–6 ethanol reach 380.5 and 4.2 when it works at 395 respectively, and its response time and recovery time are 16 s and 40 s, respectively.

Abstract: In order to obtain a high activity antibacterial peptide, An expression vector pPICZalphaA-pl is constructed with a tandem of four antimicrobial peptides in the same direction,which includes Protegrin-1 (PG-1), Scorpion Defensin (SD), Metalnikowin-2A and Sheep Myeloid Antibacterial Peptide (SMAP-29) (serial number in GenBank are AAB27599, AAAB27538, P80409 and P49928 respectively). At the same time the expression vector pPICZalphaA-sd which express Scorpion Defensin was contructed. The expression vectors of pPICZalphaA-pl and pPICZalphaA-sd were linearized and transformed into the yeast host strain X-33 respectively. Under the control of the promoter AOX1 (alcohol oxidase1), the peptides PL and SD were secreted expressed. Their heat-stable property, acid-stable property and MIC were detected in vitro. The results suggest the peptides PL and SD have good heat-stable and acid-stable properties, and the combinant PL peptide showes higher antibacterial activity against several Gram-positive bacteria (G+) and Gram-negative bacteria (G-) than the peptide SD, especially against Escherichia coli. The antibacterial activity of combinant antimicrobial peptide PL shows its far exploiting perspective.

Abstract: 本文讨论用瞬态方法测量立方半导体缺陷能级应力移动和判别缺陷势对称性的有关问题。对于简并能级Es引入应力下分裂平均值Es,它具有原哈密顿群对称操作不变性,因此可以用群论方法得出应力系数间关系并用以判断缺陷势对称性。比如当缺陷势具有T群以上对称时,缺陷能级平均值ET相对导带底或价带顶单轴应力系数(?(Ec-ET))/(?F)或(?(ET-Ev))/(?F)与应力F方向无关且等于流体静压系数的1/3。也讨论了C3v对称缺陷势的情况。缺陷能级对导带的平均电子发射率en和俘获率cn满足简洁关系 en=gTgc-1cnN′ce(-(Ec-ET)/kT)。指出通过测量en的应力关系判断缺陷势对称性的各种方案比较。分析了用瞬态法测量en有关问题。当ET分裂但诸能级间允许跃迁时,瞬态讯号呈单指数衰减,时间常数为en-1。当ET分裂但诸能级间禁止跃迁时,瞬态讯号呈多指数衰减。用初始斜率可求得en。
