Avalia??o de cultivares de alfafa e estimativas de repetibilidade de caracteres forrageiros

Abstract: the objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of 42 cultivars of alfalfa (medicago sativa l.) and to estimate the repeatability coefficient for dry matter production, leaf and stem protein content and disease tolerance features during the dry (april to september) and rainy (october to march) seasons with six cuts. dry matter yield and leaf protein content presented significant variation in both seasons, although stem protein content and tolerance to diseases were different only during the dry season. cultivars crioula and cibola had the best performance in most features. in general, the repeatability coefficient showed a low magnitude estimate (below 0,40). regarding dry matter production, the cultivars showed similar behavior in both seasons, with repeatability coefficient ranging from 0.3195 to 0.4270, genotypic determination around 65% and the possibility to predict the real value after seven to nine cuts.

Abstract: the objective of this experiment was to evaluate the forage potential of new selected clones of elephantgrass. the evaluation was conducted at the dairy cattle research centre - embrapa, coronel pacheco, minas gerais, for two consecutive years. twenty selected clones obtained by the elephantgrass breeding program were evaluated, and two traditional cultivars cameroon and taiwan a -146 were used as control. the experimental procedure was a randomized block design with four replicates. the fertilization for both establishment and maintenance was applied according to the soil chemical analysis and elephant grass nutritional requirements. significant differences among the clones were observed regarding to forage production potential, leaf:stem ratio, and aerial and basal tillering. the majority of the evaluated new clones were superior to the traditional cultivars cameroon and taiwan a-146 with relation to dry matter production during the dry and rainy periods. crude protein content in the forage did not differ among the new clones and the control cultivars (cameroon and taiwan a-146), during both dry and rainy seasons. the clone f 27-01, released as elephant grass cultivar pioneiro, was superior for the most evaluated agronomic traits.

Abstract: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o comportamento de novos clones selecionados de capim-elefante. O experimento foi realizado na Embrapa Gado de Leite, em Coronel Pacheco -- MG, por um período de dois anos. Foi avaliado o potencial forrageiro de 20 clones de capim-elefante, obtidos pelo programa de melhoramento, e mais duas cultivares tradicionais (Cameroon e Taiwan A-146) usadas como testemunhas. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso com quatro repeti es. As aduba es para estabelecimento e manuten o foram realizadas de acordo com a análise do solo, visando suprir as exigências nutricionais do capim-elefante. Observaram-se diferen as significativas entre os clones, quanto ao potencial para produ o de forragem, à rela o folha/colmo e ao perfilhamento aéreo e basal. A maioria dos clones avaliados apresentou maior produ o de matéria seca que as cultivares tradicionais, Cameroon e Taiwan A-146, durante o período seco e chuvoso. N o houve diferen a significativa no teor de proteína bruta da matéria seca das cultivares controles (Cameroon e Taiwan A-146) e dos clones avaliados, em ambas as esta es (águas e seca). O clone F 27-01, lan ado pela Embrapa Gado de Leite com o nome de cultivar Pioneiro, destacou-se para quase todas as características agron micas estudadas.
Adaptabilidade e estabilidade de cultivares de alfafa em rela o a diferentes épocas de corte

Abstract: O experimento foi conduzido na Esta o Experimental de Zootecnia de Sert ozinho-SP. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos casualizados com 3 repeti es, sendo a parcela constituída de 5 fileiras de 5m de comprimento, espa ados 0,2 m. Avaliou-se a produ o de matéria seca de 35 cultivares de alfafa em 29 cortes realizados no período de outubro/1996 a mar o/1999. O estudo da adaptabilidade e estabilidade das cultivares ao longo dos 29 cortes, foi realizado por meio das metodologias de Eberhart e Russell e Lin e Binns. Verificou-se a existência de intera o cultivares x cortes, demonstrando que o comportamento relativo das cultivares n o era o mesmo nos diferentes cortes. Das 35 cultivares avaliadas, 14 apresentaram adaptabilidade geral (b1i ou = 1) e boa previsibilidade ( s2di = 0), segundo a metodologia de “Eberhart e Russell”. Das 10 cultivares que apresentaram maior adaptabilidade e estabilidade (menores Pi), segundo a metodologia de Lin e Binns sete também apresentaram adaptabilidade geral e boa previsibilidade segundo a metodologia de Eberhart e Russell. As cultivares SW 8210, Victoria SP, MH 15, 5888, Araucana, BR 1 e BR 3 foram as que apresentaram maior adaptabilidade e estabilidade de comportamento, pelos dois métodos utilizados.
Estimativas de repetibilidade para produ o de matéria seca em alfafa

Abstract: Com o aumento da competitividade do setor produtivo, a pecuária leiteira brasileira busca, de todas as formas, sistemas de produ o que obtenham maior produtividade e menor custo. Entre as estratégias adotadas para tal fim, est o a melhoria da qualidade do rebanho e da forragem fornecida aos animais, de modo que estes expressem todo o seu potencial produtivo. A alfafa, conhecida pela excelente qualidade forrageira e boa palatabilidade, surge como boa op o. Entretanto, ainda há muito o que se trabalhar para a obten o de cultivares melhor adaptadas às condi es tropicais. Informa es teóricas sobre características de importancia forrageira s o necessárias para a orienta o dos programas de melhoramento. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste trabalho foi estimar o coeficiente de repetibilidade para a produtividade de matéria seca de alfafa na regi o Sudeste do Brasil e determinar o número ideal de avalia es para a sele o dos genótipos superiores, por meio de quatro metodologias diferentes. Utilizaram-se dados de produtividade de matéria seca obtidos em quatro ensaios de compara o de cultivares de alfafa, conduzidos em diferentes regi es do Estado de Minas Gerais. Estimou-se o coeficiente de repetibilidade (r), para cada um dos ensaios, por meio dos métodos da análise de variancia (Anova), dos componentes principais com base na matriz de covariancia (CP-1) e de correla o (CP-2), e pela análise estrutural baseada na matriz de correla o. Observou-se que houve boa concordancia entre as diferentes metodologias de estima o do coeficiente de repetibilidade em todos os ensaios. A estimativa média de repetibilidade para produ o de matéria seca de alfafa nos quatro ensaios avaliados foi de 0,59, com coeficiente de determina o médio de 0,96. Constatou-se, também, que a realiza o de apenas quatro cortes, em média, foram suficientes para se conhecer o real valor genotípico das cultivares testadas, com 85% de confiabilidade.

Abstract: along with the increasing competition in its primary production area the brazilian dairy searchs for production systems that result higher productivity and lower costs. among the adopted strategies are the herd and forage improvement. alfalfa, known for its excellent nutritional quality and palatability, becomes an option. however, to obtain cultivars well adapted to tropical conditions still requires a lot of time and work. theoretical information regarding forage value characters are required in order to orient improvement programs. so, the objective of this work was to estimate the repeatability coefficient of alfalfa dry matter productivity in brazil southeast region and to determinate the ideal evaluation number necessary to select higher genotypes. four methodologies were used. dry matter productivity data from four alfalfa evaluation experiments carried in different areas of minas gerais state were used. the repeatability coefficient (r) for each experiment was estimated using variance analysis (anova) of the main components based on the covariance (cp-1) and the correlation (cp-2) matrix and by the structural analysis based on the correlation matrix. a good response among the four methodologies was observed in all experiments. the average estimate for repeatability of alfalfa dry matter production for all experiments was 0,59, with the determination coefficient average of 0,96. what was also noted was that four cuts, in average, were sufficient to shown with 85% confidence the real genotipic value of the evaluated cultivars.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the agronomic performance of hybrid from elephant grass (pennisetum purpureum schum.) and pearlmillet (p. glaucum (e.) leek) in order to determine its potential for forage enhancement. twelve cultivars of pearlmillet and 11 clones of elephant grass were crossed using a partial dialel design. the 132 hybrids combinations along with two test hybrids were evaluated in casual block design experiment with three replications. dry matter production, plant height, dry matter percent, leaf:stem relation and forage quality information, such as crude protein, fiber percentage in neutral and in acid detergent and in vitro organic matter digestibility were recorded. there was variability between the interspecific hybrids of elephant grass and pearlmillet for most of the studied parameters. the high performance of some experimental hybrids, compared to the two test hybrids, shows the potential of p. purpureum and p. glaucum crosses to develop better cultivars. considering forage productivity and quality, the best hybrids were 108 (f91-2-5 x m-60), 53 (f93-4-2 x m-27), 35 (f94-28-3 x m-42), 36 (f94-28-3 x m-60) and 4 (f92-101-2 x m-35).

Abstract: the objective of this experiment was to evaluate and select the alfalfa cultivars (medicago sativa l.) best adapted to the climate and soil of zona da mata, in minas gerais, brazil. the trial was carried out at embrapa gado de leite, in the experiment station located in coronel pacheco, mg, using a randomized complete block design with two replications. fifty-nine cultivars studied between sept. 9, 1999 and dec. 10, 2001 were submitted to 16 evaluating cuts. dry matter production (dmp), plant height (ph), vigor (vg), flowering percent (flo), leaf/stem ratio (rfc) and disease (d) and pests (p) occurrence were observed. there were significant differences among cultivars regarding to dmp, ph, vg, flo and d. cultivars p-30, crioula c-3 and crioula c-2 showed the highest dmp (13,17; 13,13; 13,00 e 12,48 t/ha/year, respectively). taller flo (18,98%) and ph (54,13 cm) were observed during the cuts done during the summer compared to those done during the winter (6,11% and 46,60 cm, respectively). based on the results of the trial, the cultivars p-30, crioula c-1, crioula c-3 and crioula c-2 were selected.

Abstract: information about cultivars behavior obtained from only one local and year may not be enough for a cultivar recommendation due to the genotype x environment interaction occurrence. then, cultivars indication based on stability and repeatability is more consistent because it enables previewing theirs performance under many environments. this work studied the adaptability and repeatability of dry matter production of seven sorghum cultivars to be used as silage. data came from two sites (coronel pacheco and lavras, minas gerais) and were obtained during two years (1997/98 and 1998/99) using a casual block with three replications design. cultivar ag 2002 was recommended because showed the best productivity, good performance preview and was the cultivar that approached more to the ideal standard. also, volumax cultivar may be recommended due to its good performance when growing in favorable environments.

Abstract: an experiment was carried out at the animal science experimental station of sert?ozinho, s?o paulo, brazil. the experimental design was a randomized block design, with three replications. plots were constituted of 5 rows, with 5m long, separated by 0.2m. thirty-five alfalfa cultivars were evaluated for dry matter yield in 29 yielding dates, from october, 1996 to march, 1999. adaptability and stability study was stimated with “eberhart & russell” and “lin & binns” methods. significant cultivar x yielding dates interaction was verified, indicating that the relative behavior of the cultivars was not the same in the different yielding dates. among the 35 evaluated cultivars, 14 presented wide adaptability (b1i = 1) and good predicability ( s2di = 0), according to the “eberhart & russell” method. among 10 cultivars that had high adaptability and predicability (smallest values of pi), estimated by “lin & binns” method, seven also had high adaptability and good predicability, estimated by “eberhart & russell” method. the cultivars sw 8210, victoria sp, mh 15, 5888, araucana, br 1 and br 3 had the high test adaptability and predicability, estimations obtained in both employed methods.
