Abstract: this paper examines the validity of the assumption of normality for the rate of inflation in mexico over the period 2000-2007, using the kolmogorov-smirnov and anderson-darling goodness of fit tests. it is found that the normality assumption is appropriate to characterize the behavior of mexico’s rate of inflation. in addition, it is estimated that the inflation rate will lie between 4.1 and 5.6 per cent each year.

Abstract: this paper analyzes trade and financial transactions between brazil and mexico in order to evaluate the magnitude of their reciprocal integration. our results suggest that both countries have successfully got inserted into the international economy, which can be observed in their high volumes of trade, in their receiving foreign direct investment and in the size of their capital markets, as well as in the magnitude of their association with the most important countries and financial centers throughout the world. however, even if their bi-na-tional trade and financial integration has notably increased, especially after the economic complementation agreements came into force in 2003 and due to the "translatinization" of brazilian and mexican firms, the magnitude of their reciprocal trade and financial transactions remains at very low relative levels, a situation that may significantly change in the framework of a possible strategic agreement of economic integration between these two countries.

Abstract: Aretrospective longitudinal study of a final sample of 311 Spanish students in compulsory secondary education (CSE) and baccalaureate (BAC) between 1 and 6 years after administration of MACI was conducted by analyzing “a posteriori” if they were able to graduate or not in CSE, as well as some form of baccalaureate. The effects of factors such as grade, sex and graduate/urdergraduate were studied over measured variables by MACI, related with personality traits, the concerns expressed and clinical syndromes. Looking retrospectively if emerging patterns of certain personality variables characterizing students as a function of previous factors, statistically significant variables (p < 0.05) that clearly differentiate these types of students are detected based on sex, in fourteen scales scores are higher for women, with predominance of internalizing trend and with a large effect size in variables as body disapproval (0.81) and eating disorders (0.87), and in six scales boys with externalizing trend and a large effect of sex factor on the variable predisposition to delinquency (0.81) as well as between different types of academic performance, especially undergraduate students in scales 2A, 6B, 9, B, G and H. Finally, references to clinical intervention techniques and educational community services, in Spain, are proposed.

Abstract: this paper holds that the western culture has been mainly visual and intends to make evident the way in which this perceptive paradigm conditions the look both of the world of things as that of the world of others. for this purpose, the difference between the eye as an organ and the look as an oriented vision is examined. in the same way, we try to examine in detail the constitutive elements of the look and how its attitude or orientation enables one to affirm or negate to others. finally, the paper shows that the loving look allows for the transit from the coexistence to the intersubjectivity and from the mass to the community.

Abstract: this paper examines a series of recent objections to veritistic epistemology that aim to show that it cannot account for the nature and value of understanding. section 1 formulates the central tenets of veritistic epistemology and makes a few more preliminary remarks. sections 2 and 3 discuss objections that attempt to show that cognitive states implicated in understanding have a sui generis nature which makes the veritistic model of evaluation inapplicable to them. sections 4 and 5 examine objections that aim to show that there are aspects of understanding which are epistemically valuable, whose value cannot be explained in veritistic terms. section 6 sums up results of the discussion: none of the objections discussed succeeds in revealing any explanatory deficit of veritism with respect to the nature and value of understanding.

Abstract: the paper deals with some particular issues about federalism. one of them and not so obvious is the conceptual one. it is remembered that federalism not always was treated with the same meaning. the mean characters are exposed jointly, signaling besides the different types of political associations inside which it is possible to include clearly the modern federations. additionally, the author devotes space to consider some other issues related, like the frequent appearance of assimetries and imbalances to the interior of federations. the former poses one of the biggest challenges to the operation and equilibrium in the contemporary scenarios where the federal form of governance matters. in the other side, the particular problem of fiscal imbalances open doors to the main issue of fiscal federal relations, which involves the central issues of expenditure assignment, tax assignment and transfers, as basic features of fiscal federalism. the paper includes some considerations about the argentinean scenario and concludes with some comments summarizing the general content of the note.
La variabilidad del registro arqueomalacológico en la costa norte de Santa Cruz (Patagonia argentina): resultados exploratorios a partir de estudios estratigráficos

Abstract: the archaeological record of the north coast of santa cruz (argentine patagonia) is characterized by the presence of large quantities of accumulations of mollusc shells from anthropogenic sources, commonly known as shellmiddens. these have been interpreted as evidence of intense occupation by human populations during the middle and, mainly, late holocene. previous studies have analyzed the variability of surface shellmiddens in the study area. in this paper we analyze the structural characteristics of seven archaeomalacological accumulations excavated in three archaeological localities in different areas of this vast coastline. using geoarchaeological variables and the study of malacological remains we discuss the formation processes and postdepositacional alterations of these deposits in order to advance the discussion of the exploitation, consumption and disposal of shellfish by patagonian populations in the past.

Abstract: the expansion of the quasi-market logics within the (re)configuration of school regimes has affected the articulation of the school supply as well as the school demand side. with regard to the latter, market policies have been addressed to widen the margin of parental school choice. with regard to the supply side, and beyond the strength of the dynamics of privatization, these same policies have lead to increase the margins of school autonomy at different levels (curriculum design, personnel management, students' admission...). from a european and critical perspective, in this article i review some of the negative impacts these processes can have in the field of school segregation and inequality, and examine key arguments which contribute to understanding the nature and implications of such impacts.

Abstract: the origin of alphabetization in information is analyzed from the reading and writing points of view prevalent in hypermedia, which are different from alphabetization based on texts. hypermedia possess its own electronic discourse grammar, since its message is multiple due to prevalence of ists in what concerns to content; of users about design; and of its functions about a new space to education. alphabetization in information is defined, based on multiple alphabetization through informative competences for knowledge and the projection of these on the educational system.
