Abstract: Eucalyptus globulus Labill, Eucalyptus urograndis (hybrid from Eucalyptus urophylla S.T. Blake X Eucalyptus grandis Hill ex-Maiden) and E. uroglobulus (hybrid from E. urograndis X E. globulus) were subjected to different treatments, including water deficiency and stress recovery, low temperatures, presence or absence of light, and their respective controls. Except for treatment with light, which examined the seedling hypocotyl or apical portion of the stem, the expression analyses were conducted in the apical and basal parts of the stem. To select the best pair of genes, the bioinformatics tools GeNorm and NormFinder were compared. Comprehensive analyses that did not differentiate between species, treatments, or tissue types, showed that IDH (isocitrate dehydrogenase), SAND (SAND protein), ACT (actin), and A-Tub (α-tubulin) genes were the most stable. IDH was the most stable gene in all of the treatments.Comparing these results with those of other studies on eucalyptus, we concluded that five genes are stable in different species and experimental conditions: IDH, SAND, ACT, A-Tub, and UBQ (ubiquitin). It is usually recommended a minimum of two reference genes is expression analysis; therefore, we propose that IDH and two others genes among the five identified genes in this study should be used as reference genes for a wide range of conditions in eucalyptus. The genus Eucalyptus belongs to the Myrtaceae family, which consists of approximately 600 species and subspecies, exhibits physiological plasticity with worldwide dispersion and successfully grows in different regions. Eucalyptus is a major source of cellulose for manufacturing paper [1] and globally, Brazil ranks first in the production of short fibre cellulose [2]. Due to its economic importance, the genome sequencing of the species Eucalyptus grandis was recently completed [3].E. globulus and E. grandis are the two main species cultivated in the world [4]. Among the existing species, E. globulus is known for it
Intrincada trama de masculinidades e feminilidades: fracasso escolar e meninos
Brito, Rosemeire dos Santos;
Cadernos de Pesquisa , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-15742006000100006
Abstract: this case study on systematic failure of boys in elementary school is inspired by educational ethnography. it refutes the first explanations provided in the educational literature which tended to identify the differences in gender socialization as the cause of the problem. opposite to their male classmates, girls seemed to face less difficulties because they were supposedly educated to be passive and comply with rules. based on an empirical research conducted at a public school of s?o paulo state school system, it was possible to verify that these fixed male and female patterns do not exist. an intricate plot of masculinities and femininities tightly connected with students' social status was found to exist and have different effects on failure/success at school.
"O tornas-te o que tu és": sua correspondência no educar-se a si mesmo

Eccos Revista Científica , 2012,
Abstract: This article makes some brief remarks on Nietzsche's understanding in relation to the Pindaric formula "become who you are" that conduces to thinking on the way whereby this philosopher sees an education for the singularity. For this study, the works Schopenhauer as educator; Thus Spoke Zarathustra, sections The covalescent and The honey sacrifice, and Ecce Homo are used as a reference. It can say that the dictum of Pindar "become who you are" has a fundamental place in the thinking of Nietzsche, for it can mean for this philosopher that which relates to the process of educating yourself. That perspective of interpretation goes against the universalist conceptions of formation, and proposes that the great man's task is to find his own way, free from prison of "being", but experiencing himself.

Spaces of smooth embeddings and configuration categories

Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: In the homotopical study of spaces of smooth embeddings, the functor calculus method (Goodwillie-Klein-Weiss manifold calculus) has opened up important connections to operad theory. Using this and a few simplifying observations, we arrive at an operadic description of the obstructions to deforming smooth immersions into smooth embeddings. We give an application which in some respects improves on recent results of Arone-Turchin and Dwyer-Hess concerning high-dimensional variants of spaces of long knots.
Manifold calculus and homotopy sheaves
Pedro Boavida de Brito,Michael S. Weiss
Mathematics , 2012,
Abstract: Manifold calculus is a form of functor calculus concerned with functors from some category of manifolds to spaces. A weakness in the original formulation is that it is not continuous in the sense that it does not handle well the natural enrichments. In this paper, we correct this by defining an enriched version of manifold calculus which essentially extends the discrete setting. Along the way, we recast the Taylor tower as a tower of homotopy sheafifications. As a spin-off we obtain a natural connection to operads: the limit of the Taylor tower is a certain (derived) space of right module maps over the framed little discs operad.

Fractal : Revista de Psicologia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-02922009000300010
Abstract: based in the response process validity evidence, this study explored quality of children's mistakes on the cloze test. the sample was composed by 266 children, boys and girls, aging from 8 to 13 years old, attending at the third and fourth grades of the elementary education of public and private schools of s?o paulo, brazil. two protocols groups were formed: of the children with high and low means to construct a errors scale, for the least to most serious: blank, phonological, lexical, syntactic and semantic. the results showed that children with high means test presented lexical mistakes, while children with low means made semantic mistakes. although the response process validity evidence was finding, by the homogeneously evaluation on the errors distribution types, it's necessary to extend the knowledge of psychometric characteristics of the cloze test.
Estudos de validade entre instrumentos que avaliam habilidades linguísticas

Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-166X2010000300003
Abstract: the aim of this study was to search for evidence of convergent validity between evaluation scale of difficulties in learning to write, the word recognition scale and the cloze test. linguistic abilities were assessed using these specific instruments and other variables were also investigated, from the school grade to the recognition of evidence of criterion validity. in addition, the quality of children′s mistakes with regard to the cloze test was analyzed according to the evaluation scale of difficulties in learning to write, which classified the children into groups with and without learning difficulties. the sample was composed of 266 elementary school children in public, private and social service for industry schools in s?o paulo. the results only permitted us to find evidence of criterion validity with word recognition at the grade level. the analysis of correlation between the means of word recognition and the cloze test, using the evaluation scale of difficulties in learning to write categories, also indicated significant differences, suggesting convergent validity amongst the instruments.

Abstract: in this article, we approach the subject of the sense attribution to teaching and learning situations and we look for an alternative that allows the student to notice the importance of mathematics. it is with this perspective that we introduce mathematical modeling activities and we associate the students' development in classroom with aspects of the leontiev activity theory. two ideas seem to converge. on one side, to attribute sense and to build meanings in mathematics teaching and learning situations, it is necessary to approach situations that can establish relationships between the mathematics and the students' life. on the other hand, mathematical modelling activities can connect the classroom's mathematics with the problems of the community to which the students belong. when we developed a proposal for mathematical modeling activities with high school students, starting from the analysis of the information that we collected, we identified three conditions that can show the sense attribution and meaning in a modelling activity, taking into account the established relationships. the first condition refers to cases where the students face a problem that has for them subjective importance, in other words, when the problem is in fact a problem for them. the second condition refers to cases of critical engagement and transfer of learning of a modelling situation for other situations lived by the students. the third condition occurs when the students try to make relevant the use of the mathematics in the approach to a problem.

Abstract: knowing the extremely importance of the comprehension to the college, the aim of this paper was to verify, among freshman students, the level of reading comprehension according to the course and sex. 134 freshmen college of the first year, studying humanities, exacting and biological sciences, of two private universities from two different states, were submitted. for the cloze test a text from a magazine was selected and a rational deletion criterion was used to structure it (was deleted every 5th word). the punctuation could vary from 0 to 40. the mean score was 18,49 (s.d. = 4,12), demonstrating that freshmen college do not have competence in reading skills. there were not significant statistics differences on the comprehension into the comparison among the courses and sex. results was in according with other researches that demonstrated that great part of freshmen college do not have competence in reading skills. the cloze technique was useful to detect at what level the readers were, bringing elements for either casual intervention programs or faculty members practices who want to help their freshmen college to develop linguistic skills.
