Biologia e exigências térmicas de Trichogramma pretiosum Riley (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) sobre ovos de Bonagota cranaodes (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)

Abstract: this work was aimed at studyng the biology of trichogramma in laboratory, in search of its use in integrated management programs to control bonagota cranaodes in culture of the apple. the biology of trichogramma bruni nagaraja and of two lineages (l3 and l4) of trichogramma pretiosum on eggs of b. cranaodes was done such their thermal demands and annual number of generations. the line l3 presented more parasitism (52.3%), however, the feseability was similar among the lineages studied; with biological cycle of 8.7 days; the longevity of females was 10.65 days; low threshold temperature of 11.35°c and thermal requirement of 128.70 gd, the number of annual generations this line in laboratory was 47.22 and 13.59 for vacaria-rs climate conditions. the low parasitism of the t. bruni and of the lineage l4 of t. pretiosum can be related to the layer of secretion presented on the laying of the pest. although this parasitism is considered low, the use of these lineages cannot be discarded the integrated apple production, systens. new studies shal be accomplished in field conditions.

Abstract: Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar a biologia de Trichogramma em laboratório, visando a sua utiliza o em programas de manejo integrado para o controle de Bonagota cranaodes na cultura da macieira. A biologia de Trichogramma bruni Nagaraja e de duas linhagens (L3 e L4) de Trichogramma pretiosum foi realizada sobre ovos de B. cranaodes. Além disso, suas exigências térmicas e o número anual de gera es também foram determinados. A linhagem L3 apresentou maior parasitismo (52,3%), no entanto, a viabilidade foi semelhante entre as linhagens estudadas, com ciclo evolutivo de 8,7 dias, longevidade de fêmeas de 10,65 dias, temperatura base de 11,35degreesC e constante térmica de 128,70GD. O número de gera es anuais dessa linhagem em laboratório foi de 47,22 e de 13,59 gera es para as condi es da regi o de Vacaria - RS. O baixo parasitismo de T. bruni e da linhagem L4 de T. pretiosum pode estar ligado à camada de secre o existente sobre as posturas da praga. Embora este parasitismo seja considerado baixo, a utiliza o destas linhagens n o pode ser descartada dentro do sistema de Produ o Integrada da Ma , devendo novos estudos serem realizados em condi es de campo.

Abstract: demands for sustainable agricultural systems have forested the development of biological control techniques, such as the use of the egg parasitoid trichogramma westwood. however, the arduous identification of the parasitoid at the species level, due to the tiny size and the morphological similarities is an obstacle to increasing its use. molecular markers are useful to reach the specimen genome and avoid environmental effects that could misguide identification. several molecular markers techniques are available and the issr technique has been used to differentiate close individuals, due to its high polymorphism level, reproducibility and low cost. the objective of this study was to measure the level of genetic differentiation among five lines of trichogramma, using issr markers: three belonging to the species t. pretiosum riley, one to t. atopovirilia oatman & platner and one to t. bruni nagaraja. morphological identification of the parasitoids was conducted at esalq/usp - piracicaba, sp. after dna removal and standatization, pcr reactions were performed with 26 issr primers; 11 of them were selected because they presented greater polymorphism and consistency. molecular data were converted into a binary matrix and analyzed (ntsys v. 2.1). the 11 primers produced 172 polymorphic sections. genetic similarity ranged from 19% to 96%, showing that the issr technique can efficiently identify dna polymorphism in trichogramma. results also indicate important inter and intra-specific variations among the parasitoid lines.
Controle químico da Argyrotaenia sphaleropa (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) e da Hypocala andremona (Stoll) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) em laboratório

Abstract: hypocala andremona (stoll) (lepidoptera: noctuidae) and argyrotaenia sphaleropa (meyrick) (lepidoptera: tortricidae) are the main insect-pests of the persimmon in the serra gaúcha region, state of rio grande do sul (rs). no informations are available about chemical control of these caterpillars. the effect of acephate, emmamectin benzoate (+ mineral oil), clorpyriphos-ethyl, spinosad, etofenprox, fenitrothion, fosmet, methoxyfenozide, tiacloprid and trichlorphon on h. andremona and a. sphaleropa were evaluated in laboratory. acephate (g.a.i.100 l-1) (37.5 and 75.0), emmamectin benzoate (0.375 and 0.5), clorpyriphos-ethyl (45.0 and 67.5), spinosad (4.8 and 9.6), etofenprox (10.0 and 15.0), fenitrothion (75.0), methoxyfenozide (14.4) and trichlorphon (120,0 and 150,0) resulted in a mortality of a. sphaleropa higher than 80.0%. for h. andremona, this effect was observed to acephate (37.5 and 75.0), emmamectin benzoate (0.375 and 0.5), clorpyriphos-ethyl (45.0 and 67.5), spinosad (4.8 and 9.6), etofenprox (10.0 and 15.0), fenitrothion (50.0 and 75.0), fosmet (50.0 and 100.0), methoxyfenozide (9.6 and 14.4) and trichlorphon (120.0 and 150.0). these insecticides showed potential to control caterpillars in the persimmon culture, being necessary field evaluations to use the compounds in commercial orchards.

Abstract: the south american fruit fly, anastrepha fraterculus is one of the most important pest of temperate fruit crops. the effect of four new inseticide groups to replace organophosphate compounds for a. fraterculus control was evaluated under laboratory conditions (25 ± 3oc, relative humity of 70 ± 10% and 12:12 l:d). emamectin benzoate, etofenprox, imidacloprid, spinosad, thiacloprid and thiamethoxan were evaluated to control adults by contact and ingestion and against eggs/larvae inside apple fruits compared with fenthion and thrichlorphon. emamectin benzoate was not efficient to control adults of a. fraterculus by contact and ingestion. etofenprox, imidacloprid, spinosad and thiamethoxan were efficient to control adults by contact and ingestion being more toxic by ingestion. no new insecticide controlled eggs/larvae inside apple fruit while organophosphate compounds caused 100% of mortality of immature stages and adults. the new insecticides showed more potential to substitute organophosphate compounds in bait sprays for adult control.
Biologia comparada e exigências térmicas de Cryptoblabes gnidiella em dieta artificial

Abstract: this work was conducted to evaluate the development of cryptoblabes gnidiella in artificial diets, and to know the thermal requirements of the species. biology was studied under laboratory conditions (26±1oc, relative humity of 70±10% and l/d 14:10 h) using three artificial diets based on bean (d1), white bean and pellet of alfafa (d2) and of white bean (d3). thermal requirements of honeydew moth were estimated at four constant temperatures (18oc, 22oc, 26oc e 30oc) using d2 artificial diet. based on fertility life table, d2 was the most appropriate diet to rear c. gnidiella in laboratory providing a total viability of 53.30%. the lower threshold temperature and thermal requirements for the biological cycle (egg to adult) were 12.26oc and 569.91 day degrees, respectively. the specie completes 3.25 generations in caxias do sul, rs and 9.19 in petrolina, pe.
Estudo exploratório da utiliza??o de saw palmetto no tratamento da hiperplasia benigna da próstata por urologistas de Porto Alegre

Abstract: the aim of this work was to assess the prescription of saw palmetto phytomedicines for improving symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (bph) by urologists in porto alegre (brazil). the study was transversal and exploratory consisting of a semi-structured interview with urologists. the sample was obtained from the unimed catalog - porto alegre (brazil). the randomization was made by chance, being selected thirty-five physicians. the first twenty-one who accepted to participate were interviewed. all the interviewed urologists treat patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. the saw palmetto was not mentioned as the first or second choice for treating bph. the α-blockers were the most mentioned pharmacological group. however, more than half of urologists have heard about the use of saw palmetto and most of them gathered the information in scientific papers. the results indicate that saw palmetto is not prescribed for urologists in porto alegre, although most of them have knowledge about this phytomedicine.

Abstract: during a survey of polypores in the municipality of s?o francisco de paula, rio grande do sul state, brazil, 20 pileate species previously unregistered for the area were found and identified. antrodia malicola, coltricia aff. duportii, and microporellus brasiliensis are new records for rio grande do sul state. comments on the 20 newly recorded species and an identification key for the studied area are presented.

Abstract: A Hypocala andremona (Stoll) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) e a Argyrotaenia sphaleropa (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) s o as principais pragas do caquizeiro na Serra Gaúcha contudo, há poucas informa es sobre o controle químico dessas lagartas. Neste trabalho, avalia-se a eficácia dos inseticidas: acefato, benzoato de emamectina (+ óleo mineral), clorpirifós-etil, espinosade, etofemproxi, fenitrotiona, fosmete, metoxifenozida, tiacloprido e triclorfom no controle da A. sphaleropa e da H. andremona em laboratório. Os inseticidas (em gramas de ingrediente ativo por 100 litros de água - g i.a. 100L-1) acefato (37,5 e 75,0), benzoato de emamectina (0,375 e 0,5), clorpirifós-etil (45,0 e 67,5), espinosade (4,8 e 9,6), etofemproxi (10,0 e 15,0), fenitrotiona (75,0), metoxifenozida (14,4) e triclorfom (120,0 e 150,0) resultaram em mortalidade superior a 80,0% entre as lagartas de A. sphaleropa. Em rela o à H. andremona, observou-se que o acefato (37,5 e 75,0), o benzoato de emamectina (0,375 e 0,5), o clorpirifós-etil (45,0 e 67,5), o espinosade (4,8 e 9,6), o etofemproxi (10 e 15,0), a fenitrotiona (50 e 75,0), o fosmete (50,0 e 100,0), a metoxifenozida (9,6 e 14,4) e o triclorfom (120,0 e 150,0) causaram mortalidade superior a 80%. Esses inseticidas apresentaram elevada eficiência em laboratório e características desejáveis para uso no manejo de lagartas do caquizeiro. No entanto, para validar o seu emprego em pomares comerciais é necessária avalia o de campo.
