Abstract: This paper investigates if the managerial work nature modifies the manager's perception regarding the adjustment of Information Technology (IT) to their task. The indicators of managerial work, as experience and frequency of IT use and manager decision-making roles, were based on studies of Vlahos and Ferrat (1998) and Vlahos, Ferratt and Knoepfle (2004) as well as the task technology fit, reasoned from the Task-Technology Fit model (TTF) (Goodhue, 1995). This paper contributes to understanding the IS as a support tool for the tasks that composed the manager's role in the organization. Through an exploratory study conducted with 238 managers, we observed that more increases the experience of the individual with the Information System (IS), greater the adjustment perceived for it, between the technology and the task running; and higher the user access the IS, greater the fit between the technology and their tasks. As for the decision-making roles, we identified the roles of manager/entrepreneur and conflict manager are those who envisage a better adaptation of technology to their work, getting through the IS support for the work to proceed more efficiently.

Abstract: With the increasing use of the Information Technology (IT) by organizations, it becomes necessary to study the strategic alignment between the Strategic Plan of Information Technology (SPIT) and the Strategic Business Plan (SBP), besides understanding the factors which explain the level of that alignment. Thus, this work aims to verify the maturity level between these plans and to identify the Critical Success Factors (CSF) that favor their alignment. The analysis results of two companies in the southern region, one large and another small, had different levels of strategic alignment between SPIT and SBP. The first had an alignment of level 5, and the second, level 3. Through the diagnosis of CSF, we identified divergences as to the valorization of the business knowledge by the IS manager; creativity of the IS area in the strategic use of IT; knowledge of the objectives and goals of the business by the IS manager.

Sistemas & Gest?o , 2009,

Abstract: The role of city public manager has been passed for a critical stage of collections and responsibilities from public society. For this question, the manager must define methods and decision maker tools such as account indicators, Enterprise Resource Planning, Manager Information Systems (IS) and Decision Making Information Systems, looking for information’s quality to understanding and planning his acts. The present study aims to verify the Information Systems end user’s satisfaction degree in finance city offices. The research concludes that, although to be now a natural practice, the simple use of IS don’t make possible the satisfactory function of financial office. The training of IS end users and technical support are fundamental, independent of the hierarchic level. The exceeded technologies provide low satisfaction user index. Non-integrated systems present considerable lacks in data organizations and presentation to end users. Independently of technological structure used, the adaptation of new laws, such as Fiscal Responsibility, is very difficult.

Understanding the subject's behavior in the interaction with a decision support system under time pressure and missing information
Corso, Kathiane Benedetti;L?bler, Mauri Leodir;
JISTEM - Journal of Information Systems and Technology Management , 2011, DOI: 10.4301/S1807-17752011000300004
Abstract: the article seeks to determine how time pressure and missing information in decision-making affect the behavior of decision makers. data was collected through an experimental task of simulating the purchase of a car, which was structured with the ahp (analytic hierarchy process) multi-criteria method in a decision support system. when pressured by time, the experimental subjects focused on the car of their choice; whereas with no time pressure, some of them rationalized more, used the information, and did not agree with the chosen car. assumptions of the theory of image justified some findings, indicating that previously structured images in the mind of the decision maker are a way to cope with time pressure. given the missing information, the use of background knowledge and individual experience were the most prominent coping strategy.

Abstract: this study aimed to check if a decision support system (dss) reproduces the process of human decision. for this, we used the fundamental elements of the saaty's (1991) analytic hierarchy process (ahp), which allows up to five categories of analysis. accordingly, through a laboratory experiment enacted the task of choosing a notebook in two different ways: with the aid of a dss; and without the aid of the system, and only the individual's mind to guide the decision while using a think aloud protocol. the results showed significant differences for four of the five categories of analysis. through hypothesis testing, the only category that had no significant difference in both tasks was the order of choice criteria. regarding the other categories, statistical evidence did not support the idea that the processes are similar, even if the final decision was the same. for this reason, this study's hypothesis was not confirmed; it is not possible to say that a dss reproduces the human decision-making process. regarding the conduct of the decision-maker concerning options for finding information, the process is similar in both tasks, since the decision-maker sought information according to criteria.
