Determina??o experimental dos raios cristalográficos dos íons sódio e cloreto
Tubino, Matthieu;Simoni, José de Alencar;
Química Nova , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-40422007000700046
Abstract: this experiment, where very common materials and equipments are used, conducts to good and interesting results related to the ionic radii of sodium and chloride ions. it also offers an excellent opportunity to discuss the crystalline arrangement of solids and to apply simple mathematical tools for calculations. other important concepts such as density, solubility and saturated solution are also used. the simplicity of the experiment creates an excellent opportunity for reasoning with the students about the technique.
Refletindo sobre o caso celobar?
Tubino, Matthieu;Simoni, José de Alencar;
Química Nova , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-40422007000200048
Abstract: by mid 2003, the brazilian people accompanied astonished, in the press, the news about the death of more than 20 persons due to ingestion of a pharmaceutical product containing a suspension of barium sulfate (celobar?) commonly used as a radiological contrast. analysis of the product indicated the presence of barium carbonate (about 13% weight/weight) which reacts easily with the hydrochloric acid in the stomach liberating barium ions, a severe poison. in this article, we briefly discuss the possible economic, personal and technical causes that led to this disaster.
Scaling cigars in the Cuban tourism economy
Simoni,Valerio;
Etnográfica , 2009,
Abstract: taking scale as an object of analysis (tsing 2000), this article examines how competing scale-making projects emerge in different layers of the cuban tourism economy. i consider how tourists and cubans interact along contested chains of production and distribution of cigars, and therefore become entangled in bundles of ideas, discourses, practices and materialities. these constitute different scaling propositions on which tourists and cubans converge or diverge, and which inform the success of encounters within the tourism economy. highlighted is the importance of understanding how scaling propositions are enacted and negotiated within tourism. i conclude that the realm of tourism is a particularly fruitful platform to investigate how competing scale-making projects and notions of scale are played out in the contemporary world.

Disinfection of drinking and bathing water with oxyl
Simoni? Marjana
Hemijska Industrija , 2002, DOI: 10.2298/hemind0202050s
Abstract: An electrolysed solution of sodium chloride was examined for its disinfection potential in drinking and bathing water. The electrolysis of NaCl ((=1%) in tap water was performed at room temperature using a 10 A electric current in an electrolysis apparatus. Some laboratory tests were made, initially to determine the stability and efficiency of the disinfectant. Chemical and microbiological measurements of the treated water (according to DIN 19643 for bathing water) were then carried out before and after addition of the disinfectant agent.
A crítica literária na Itália napole nica: avalia es e contribui es de Ugo Foscolo The literary criticism in Napoleonic Italy: assessments and contributions of Ugo Foscolo
Karine Simoni
This paper analyses the ideas of the Italian author Ugo Foscolo (1778-1827) about the literary criticism contained in his essays about literature, and demonstrates how the metodology proposed by the author contributed to the renewal of the literary criticism in Italy between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

The Ahlfors lemma and Picard's theorems
Aleksander Simoni
Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: The article introduces Ahlfors' generalization of the Schwarz lemma. With this powerful geometric tool of complex functions in one variable, we are able to prove some theorems concerning the size of images under holomorphic mappings, including the celebrated Picard's theorems. The article concludes with a brief insight into the theory of Kobayashi hyperbolic complex manifolds.
Morphological Conservation in Human-Animal Hybrids in Science Fiction and Fantasy Settings: Is Our Imagination as Free as We Think It Is?  [PDF]
Matthieu J. Guitton
Advances in Anthropology (AA) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/aa.2013.33021
Abstract:

The question of whether human imagination knows no boundaries or is, alternatively, constrained by conscious or unconscious cognitive templates is a key issue in defining human mind. We try here to address this extremely large question by focusing on one particular element of imaginary creations, the specific case of human-animal hybrids. Human-animal hybrids are common inhabitants of human imaginary spaces, being regularly encountered across numerous mythologies, as well as in modern popular culture. If human imagination was unconstrained, it would be expected that such hybrid creatures would display roughly half human and half animalistic features. Using several different popular science fiction and fantasy settings, we conducted an analysis of the morphological traits of human-animal hybrids, both anatomical and phenotypic. Surprisingly, we observed extremely high conservation of human morphological traits in human-animal hybrids, with a contrasting high use of phenotypic (“cosmetic”) alterations, and with highly stereotyped patterns of morphological alterations. While these alterations were independent of the setting considered, shape alterations were setting-dependent and used as a way to increase internal coherence. Finally, important gender differences were observed, as female human-animal hybrids retained significantly more human traits than males did, suggesting that conservation of female appearance may bear essential evolutionary importance. Taken together, these results demonstrate the existence of strong cognitive templates which frame and limit the expression of the capacity of human imagination, and unveil some of the psychological mechanisms which constrain the emergence of imaginary spaces.
