Open Access Library Journal (OALib Journal) , 2020, DOI: 10.4236/oalib.1106206
Abstract: Conflict awareness would enable managers to tackle the problems of operational performance, sustainability, and governance, more efficiently and effectively. This paper described the Ready-to-Wear (RTW) Store Supervisors’ personal power profile in terms of reward, coercive, legitimate, referent, and expert; and described the conflict management styles, such as competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding and accommodating. Further, this paper determined Sex Difference on the Personal Power Profile and Conflict Management Styles of RTW Store Supervisors. This paper used descriptive method of research. The researchers distributed survey questionnaires to a total of 79 (33 males and 46 females) RTW store supervisors in Nueva Ecija with likert-scale responses and analyzed it through statistical data treatment such as mean, standard deviation and t-test. Based on the result of the study, the researchers concluded that, first, RTW store supervisors mostly prefer referent power in influencing their staff they will feel valued and personally accepted. Second, store supervisor least prefers coercive power to influence others. Third, in terms of conflict management styles, collaborating is always used, and accommodating and compromising are sometimes used as strategies in conflict situations. Last, there is sex difference in terms personal power profile and conflict management styles where female RTW store supervisors report higher on some domains as compared to male RTW store supervisors. In lieu of the forgoing conclusions, the researchers recommend that RTW store supervisors should strengthen the personal power profiles that recognize the value, accept strong relationship, give benefits needed, and show example of commitment. These powers are referent, expert and reward. Conflict situations are normal in any business; thus RTW store supervisors should develop skills in managing conflicts. Collaborating, accommodating and compromising are conflict management styles that often give positive results. It is further recommended that regardless of sex difference, all store supervisors must have training to fully develop skills in managing conflicts.

Suma Psicológica , 2011,
Abstract: The aim of this study was to assess the burnout syndrome in health workers duringa contingency in Mexico City because of epidemiology AH1N1 influenza, andidentify if the use of coping strategies had protective effects for the burnout. Wehad a sample of 477 health workers and was performed a transversal descriptivestudy with a nonrandom quote sample. The instruments used were MaslachBurnout Inventory Human Services version and scale measuring coping face toextreme risks. It was performed a frequency and normality distribution to analyzethe differences, and also an analysis of variance in burnout, and multiple linealregression for coping strategies. We found that 24% had burnout (in emotionalexhaustion and a moderate degree depersonalization, with the presence of personalaccomplishment). They were also employed active and passive strategies. We found that the use of coping strategies was selective, active strategies had amoderating role to burnout and protective to the scale of emotional exhaustion, which seems to increase when there is personal realization. We propose the developmentof quantitative and qualitative research and the use of mixed models ofintervention: focusing on people.

Universitas Psychologica , 2012,
Abstract: The aim of this study was to validate hypothesized structural and functional relationships between coping strategies and factors associated with burnout syndrome in independent samples of health workers from different hospitals and hospital care settings. We applied the Maslach Burnout Inventory and the scale of Coping with Extreme Risks adapted to the Mexican population, we analyzed the responses of 354 health workers in a tertiary hospital and 300 from a reference hospital. The samples were intentional, non-probability, quota. The group was formed by nurses, paramedics, diagnostics services, physicians and resident physicians. Results confirmed the factor structure of the instruments in the twosamples and showed that the use of active coping strategies (control, information seeking, social support, among others) has protective effects on the factors associated withthe syndrome (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal fulfillment at work), regardless of the sample, context and type of hospital care. We discuss the results andtheir implications in relation to external validity and findings in other related research.
Bounds on Geometric Eigenvalues of Graphs

Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: The smallest nonzero eigenvalue of the normalized Laplacian matrix of a graph has been extensively studied and shown to have many connections to properties of the graph. We here study a generalization of this eigenvalue, denoted $\lambda(G, X)$, introduced by Mendel and Naor in 2010, obtained by embedding the vertices of the graph $G$ into a metric space $X$. We consider general bounds on $\lambda(G, X)$ and $\lambda(G, H)$, where $H$ is a graph under the standard distance metric, generalizing some existing results for the standard eigenvalue. We consider how $\lambda(G, H)$ is affected by changes to $G$ or $H$, and show $\lambda(G, H)$ is not monotone in either $G$ or $H$.

Abstract: Efficacy of 25 essential oils was screened against filarial vector, Culex quinquefasciatus, for their larvicidal and knockdown effects in a preliminary study. Of these, 8 oils viz. calamus oil, cinnamon oil, citronella oil, clove oil, eucalyptus oil, lemon oil, mentha oil and orange oil exhibited 100% larvicidal activity at 1000 ppm and 100% knockdown effect at 10% concentration. These 8 oils were screened further against Cx. Quinquefasciatus, Aedes aegypti and Anopheles stephensi for their larvicial and knockdown effects at different concentrations. Mentha oil was the most promising against An. Stephensi and Ae. Aegypti recording LC50 and LC90 values of 39.74 and 115.67 ppm and 46.23 and 165.36 ppm, respectively for larvicidal activity. Calamus oil was the most effective against Cx. Quinquefasciatus with LC50 and LC90 values of 40.40, and 140.07 ppm, respectively for larvicidal activity. Orange oil showed the most potent knockdown effect with the KT50 and KT95 values of 27.44, 26.22 and 29.91 and 70.81, 65.33 and 68.57 min, against An. stephensi, Cx. Quinquefasciatus and Ae. Aegypti, respectively. The results clearly indicated that mentha oil and calamus oil were the most promising larvicides and orange oil had potent knockdown effect against the tested mosquito species. These oils could be used to develop a new formulation to control mosquitoes.

Revista Médico-Científica “Luz y Vida” , 2011,
Abstract: Diabetic gastroparesis is a syndrome characterized by delayed gastricemptying in the absence of mechanical obstruction of stomach. The major symptoms are postprandial fullness (early satiety), nausea, vomiting and abdominal distension, although many patientsremains asymptomatic. This condition has been linked to diabetesas the primary cause.Although this complication of Diabetes Mellitus is not considereda substantial factor to increase morbidity and/or mortality. It is important from the point of view of subsequent changes generated, such us the alteration in the absorption of oral medications by different mechanisms.
Mary,Jane,Dela,Cruz,Parviz,Koohafkan
