Comprendiendo la Desigualdad en Educación Superior de Guanajuato en 1997 Comprendiendo la Desigualdad en Educación Superior de Guanajuato en 1997
Humberto Rodríguez Partida,Martha Leticia Guevara Sanginés
Acta Universitaria , 2012,
Social inequalities regarding access, permanence, and success in educational processes have their origin in personal, family, social, and economic factors. The profile of students seeking entry into institutions of higher education was studied in order to identify which personal factors, such as gender, educational path, socioeconomic background and locality, have an influence on access to higher education programs at the Universidad de Guanajuato in the academic year 1997-1998. Results show several differences: Family income is higher for accepted applicants than for non-accepted ones; more male than female applicants were accepted; more residents from the industrial corridor were accepted than from other localities; and there was more intergenerational social mobility of children in reference to mothers than fathers. Uncovering the origin of educational inequities and knowing the relations between socioeconomic features of prospective students will permit the understanding, prevention, and management of educational inequalities in our society.

Salud mental , 2006,

Journal of Biomedicine and Biotechnology , 2010, DOI: 10.1155/2010/198921
Abstract: Malaria is a major global health problem that kills 1-2 million people each year. Despite exhaustive research, naturally acquired immunity is poorly understood. Cry1A proteins are potent immunogens with adjuvant properties and are able to induce strong cellular and humoral responses. In fact, it has been shown that administration of Cry1Ac protoxin alone or with amoebic lysates induces protection against the lethal infection caused by the protozoa Naegleria fowleri. In this work, we studied whether Cry1Ac is able to activate the innate immune response to induce protection against Plasmodium berghei ANKA (lethal) and P. chabaudi AS (nonlethal) parasites in CBA/Ca mice. Treatment with Cry1Ac induced protection against both Plasmodium species in terms of reduced parasitaemia, longer survival time, modulation of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines, and increased levels of specific antibodies against Plasmodium. Understanding how to boost innate immunity to Plasmodium infection should lead to immunologically based intervention strategies.

Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-50532000000200016
Abstract: a rapid method is described for preparation of support - bonded carbowax 20m columns packing using a conventional furnace to heat the packing. solvent extraction of the stationary phase removes the non-immobilized poly(ethylene glycol) (peg) from the support and the difference between final and initial weight provides the total percent extracted and, consequently, the total percent immobilized. treatment of the packing material at 250 °c for 10 h. reveals that the immobilization reduces the material activity and increases the plates number (n) and resolution (rs) while the retention factor (k) is decreased. thus, separations with this treated column are faster and display higher efficiency.

Salud mental , 2009,
Abstract: there are two main problems reported in the intervention programs addressing teenage substance users: 1) limited admission to treatment, 2) high drop out rates. institutions in other countries working with teenage substance users report a dropout rate between 50 and 70% after the first session at early treatment stages. in mexico, a study on dropout rates in a brief intervention program found rates of 53%, with teenagers dropping out between the first and second session. in the addictive behavior field, there is a factor involved in the lack of acceptance for treatment and the dropout rate during treatment. this factor is the perception of addiction treatment programs and teenagers' readiness for change their consumption. particularly, it was proposed that the lack of agreement over the actions that the therapist and the user develop, jointly and individually, affects the admission to and permanence of users in treatment programs. in addition, yahne & miller consider that most of the people can be admitted to the program without any willingness or with a limited willingness to change their consumption. this suggests the need for strategies that increase teenagers' interest in modifying their substance consumption. that is why this study reports the results of an evaluation of an induction to treatment session as a part of the <> [bipa]. this induction to treatment session uses some of the strategies from motivational interviewing that also includes the change stages of prochaska and diclemente. these strategies are based on four steps: a) give teenagers feedback on the impact of alcohol use on their lives according to the results of a previous evaluation, b) give direct counseling about the importance of change, c) suggest alternatives to achieve this change, d) describe the bipa characteristics and clarify the therapist's and teenagers' role in the treatment. if they follow these steps, tee
