Silva, Christian da;Conde, Marilena de Menezes Silva;Longhi-Wagner, Hilda Maria;
Rodriguésia , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S2175-78602012000200010
Abstract: marambaia is located in southern rio de janeiro state, between sepetiba bay and the atlantic ocean (23o1's, 23o6's; 43o34'w, 44ow), within the atlantic forest domain. the tribe olyreae includes the herbaceous bamboos, found mainly in the new world tropics, usually comprising the herbaceous layer of forests. they are being threatened by habitat fragmentation and degradation. this study aims to determine which olyreae species occur in the area, contributing to our knowledge of their conservation, distribution and diversity. samples were collected from august 2008 to december 2010 by free walks along trails in the various plant formations. the occurrence of seven olyreae species distributed in atlantic slope-forest areas was confirmed. subtribe olyrinae is represented by cryptochloa capillata, olyra humilis, o. latifolia, parodiolyra micrantha, raddia brasiliensis and reitzia smithii, and subtribe parianinae by eremitis sp. olyra latifolia and p. micrantha are the most common species in the area. eremitis sp. is probably a new species.
Duas novas espécies de Sporobolus R. Br. (Poaceae - Chloridoideae) do Brasil, relacionadas com S. ciliatus Presl
Longhi-Wagner, Hilda Maria;Boechat, Sonja de Castro;
Acta Botanica Brasilica , 1993, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-33061993000200010
Abstract: two new species of sporobolus r. br. are described for brazil, s. metallicolus and s. multiramosus, the first one distributed from central-western brazil to paraná state, the second only known so far for northern brazil (pará state). both species are closely related to s. ciliatus presl due to their small size and their contracted inflorescence. this relationship is discussed in the present work.

BOECHAT, SONJA DE CASTRO;LONGHI-WAGNER, HILDA M.;
Brazilian Journal of Botany , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-84042000000200008
Abstract: the genus eragrostis presents 53 taxa in brazil, being 38 of them native with distinctive patterns of geographic distribution: exclusively tropical, tropical/subtropical (more abundant in the tropical area but extending their occurrence to the southern region), tropical and subtropical (as abundant in the tropical region as in the subtropical one), exclusively subtropical, and subtropical/tropical (opposed to the second pattern). an analysis of these patterns is presented together with representative maps.
Olyra bahiensis (Poaceae - Olyreae): uma nova espécie para a mata atlantica do estado da Bahia, Brasil
Oliveira, Reyjane Patrícia de;Longhi-Wagner, Hilda Maria;
Brazilian Journal of Botany , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-84042005000400017
Abstract: a new species of olyra is described and illustrated. olyra bahiensis r.p.oliveira & longhi-wagner is related to o. ciliatifolia raddi (widely distributed in south america), and to o. juruana mez, o. amapana soderstr. & zuloaga, and o. loretensis mez (occurring in the amazonian basin), sharing the presence of trichomes covering completely the female floret. the new species occurs in the atlantic rain forest of southern bahia, in the same area where other many species of grasses are found. the populations of o. bahiensis present small number of individuals, growing in shaded areas associated with cocoa plantations. an analytical key for o. bahiensis and allied species is also presented.

Brazilian Journal of Botany , 2000,
Pelegrin, Carla Maria Garlet de;Longhi-Wagner, Hilda Maria;Oliveira, Paulo Luiz de;
Acta Botanica Brasilica , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-33062009000300006
Abstract: the aim of this study was to analyze leaf anatomy of selected taxa of the briza complex and also of a related genus, erianthecium parodi, to provide data for the taxonomy of the complex, whose circumscription is being discussed. middle portions of the second leaf below the inflorescence of 21 taxa of the briza complex and of erianthecium bulbosum were collected, fixed and processed according to conventional methodology for light microscopy. all species present anatomical patterns typical of festucoid and c3 grasses. the results suggest that the characters of the abaxial surface of the epidermis such as presence/absence of cork cells and shape of silica bodies are useful for understanding the taxonomic relationships within the briza complex, distinguishing eurasiatic species from american species. the same applies to several characters of the leaf blade in cross-section, e.g. blade shape, amount of sclerenchyma and structure of the mesophyll. on the other hand, in the american species of the "briza complex", the three groups obtained here do not agree with any previous proposal of generic or infrageneric taxonomic categories.
A contribui??o da anatomia foliar para a taxonomia de Raddia Bertol. (Poaceae: Bambusoideae)
Oliveira, Reyjane Patrícia de;Longhi-Wagner, Hilda Maria;Leite, Kelly Regina Batista;
Acta Botanica Brasilica , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-33062008000100002
Abstract: raddia is an herbaceous bamboo genus with nine species in brazil, one of which extends beyond brazilian borders. the leaf anatomy of these species was analyzed using optical and scanning electron microscopy, in order to obtain useful characters for the taxonomy of the genus. other herbaceous bamboos were used for comparison and no characters exclusive to raddia were found. leaf anatomy traits had little to do with species delimitation within the genus, sometimes separating only groups of species. of these traits, the most important were as follows, in transverse section: form of the midrib, position of the intermediate vascular bundle, number of vascular bundles adjacent to the intermediate bundle and form of the fusoid cells. a surface view of the epidermis (sem) showed differences among the species as regards occurrence, density and distribution of the papillae. raddia megaphylla r.p. oliveira & longhi-wagner and r. guianensis (brongn.) hitchc. & chase had the largest number of exclusive characters of the species studied. a type of trichome unknown in bambusoideae was recorded for r. stolonifera r.p. oliveira & longhi-wagner.
