Teixeira, Davi Henrique Lima;Oliveira, Maria do Socorro Padilha de;Gonalves, Flávia Maria Avelar;Nunes, José Airton Rodrigues;
Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-204X2012000200012
Abstract: the objective of this work was to determine the most appropriate strategy to simultaneously increase fruit production components of assai palm (euterpe oleracea). an experiment with 25 half-sib progenies was carried out in the county of santa isabel, pa, brazil, using a randomized complete block design with four replicates and five plants per plot. the smith & hazel, williams, and mulamba & mock's selection indexes were applied in three selective strategies. the coefficients of genetic variation, heritability, the ratio between the genetic correlation of the trait under selection and fruit yield, and the sum of all genetic correlations between the traits that comprise the index and fruit yield were used as economic weights. weighting of the correlation ratio allowed the selection indexes to discriminate the best progenies in the different selection strategies evaluated. simultaneous selection by the mulamba & mock index, as to the number of fruiting months, number of bunches harvested, fruit yield, and number of rachilles per bunch, robustly estimates genetic gains.

Acta Amazonica , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0044-59672011000400018
Abstract: the purpose of this study was to denominate correctly the aphid that attack native amazonian palms in the eastern amazon and describe its infestation. the monitoring of insect-pests on seedlings and mature plants allowed the identification of cerataphis brasiliensis (hempel, 1901) (hemiptera: aphididae: hormaphidinae: cerataphidini). earlier reports erroneously identified the species as cerataphis lataniae (boisduval, 1867). it is recommended the application of monitoring of this species on palm trees.

Abstract: this work had as objective to establish protocol for the production of seedlings in vitro from of the conversion of assai palm zygotic embryos (euterpe oleracea mart.). the mature zygotic embryos obtained of seeds of mature fruits were excised under aseptic conditions, and cultivated in rehearsal tubes with 10 ml of a ms medium modified by the presence of 0,17 g.l-1 of nah2po4, with agar 0,6%, 0,25% activated charcoal and 3% sucrose. different combinations of naa were tested (0,54; 2,68 and 5,37 mm) and bap (0,44; 1,11; 1,55 and 2,22 mm) and a treatment without growth regulator. on the average, the constituted treatments of ana and bap were superiors the to a treatment without growth regulator to all the parameters. the concentrations of 0,54 and 2,68 mm of naa promoted, on the average, larger formation of normal seedlings when compared with 5,37 mm naa. the presence of 2,68 mm naa plus 1,11; 1,55 and 2,22 mm bap was induced largest shoot length. significant differences were not verified between naa and bap concentrations for the number of roots/seedlings. the obtained results allowed verifying that an addition of naa and bap in the culture medium was necessary to the conversion of mature zygotic embryos in both vigorous and normal seedlings.

Abstract: in normal conditions, pitombeira seeds [talisia esculenta (st. hil) radlk] quickly lose their physiological quality. this makes it difficult for cultivators to use them. research on pitombeira seed desiccation is scarce. therefore, this work aimed to evaluate the physiological quality of pitombeira seeds submitted to five drying periods (0, 24, 48, 96 e 120 hours). the experimental design was entirely randomized and the data was submitted to the variance analysis and polynomial regression. the treatment effect evaluation was accomplished by means of the determination of the water content, germination percentage and vigor tests (first count, speed index and average germination time, primary root and aerial leaves length and dry mass). the initial water content of 40% was increasingly reducing within drying time. consequently, the largest germination percentages (99%) were observed within 53 hours of drying. in relation to the vigor, the largest first count values (78%) and aerial part length (11.29 cm) were obtained within 38 hours of drying. on the other hand, the shortest average germination time (17 days) and maximum primary root length (15.79 cm) occurred with 40 hours of drying. concerning the germination velocity index (1.41), root dry mass (0.079) and aerial part (0.229), the maximum values were obtained when the seeds were submitted to drying 44, 33 and 50 hours, respectively. the results confirm that the recommended drying time for pitombeira seeds is up to 48 hours to guarantee germination and vigor.
The Gestalt Approach to Social Network Used by Generation X Parents  [PDF]
Adelma do Socorro Gonalves Pimentel, Gabriela Moreira de Faria
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2015.612151
Abstract: Studies on processes of subjectivation have shown changes in the way of individuals’ interaction and interpersonal relations due to the use of new computer and communication technologies. Such attitudes demand abilities and competences that parents between age of 40 and 55, contrary to their children, do not always find it easy to learn; thereby, we aim to find how those parents understand the uses and meanings of the social networks. This is a qualitative research in psychology directed by a gestalt perspective, by Sander’s phenomenological method. The research was approved by the ethics committee of Federal University of Pará. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with 6 parents chosen by the snow ball method. The data analysis consisted of a dialogue with references on the subjective effects of use of technologies. It is observed, among the results, that parents have used the social network to relate with their children and to work. It is concluded that, even though they have a limited knowledge of the technology, the informants use the social networks as a tool to find friends, for social interaction and prevention against urban violence and personal safety.

Abstract: the hip presents a complex topography and anatomy. diagnostic procedures are generally not very helpful. however, direct access to the joint was made possible by the use of arthroscopy. surgical indications for its use are becoming more frequent year after year. usage in children is still not very common. this paper is aimed at developing an experimental model of hip arthroscopy. damages resulting from its use in structures subjected to traction were evaluated. twenty newborn cadavers were used to test the feasibility of the procedure. six fetuses were used during the pilot project for the development of a research model. the remainder fourteen fetuses were used during the main study. antero lateral and lateral ports were used for surgical access to the hip. histomorphological studies of the hip structures were carried out in each case. lateral and antero-lateral ports offered safe access and adequate viewing of most intra-articular anatomical structures through arthroscopy. it was not possible to see all structures through just one port. hip arthroscopy is not an easy procedure although feasible in newborn cadavers weighing more than 1700 g. no macroscopic or histological lesions were identified in fetuses submitted to traction of up to 88 n.
