Abstract: OBJECTIVE: Evaluation of inter and intraobserver reproducibility of by the visual method interpretation of cineangiogram in a clinically based context. METHODS: Five interventional cardiologists analyzed 11 segments of 8 coronary cineangiograms at a two month apart sessions. The percent luminal reduction by the lesions were analyzed by two different classifications: in one (A) the lesions were graded in 0% = absent, 1-50% = mild, 51 - 69 = moderate, and > or = 70% = severe; the other classification (B) was a dichotomic one : <70% = nonsignificant and > or = 70%=significant lesions. The agreement were measured by the kappa (k) index. RESULTS: Interobserver agreement was moderate for classification A (1st measurement, k = 0.36 -- 0.63, k m = 0.49; 2nd measurement, k = 0.39-0.68, k m = 0.52) and good for classification B (1st measurement, k = 0.55-0.73, k m = 0.63; 2nd measurement, k = 0.37-0.82, k m = 0.61). Intraobserver levels of agreement were k = 0.57-0.95 for classification A and 0.62-1.0 for classification B. CONCLUSION: The higher level of reproducibility obtained by adopting the dichotomous criteria usually considered for ischemic limits demonstrates that in the present clinical context, the reliability of the simple visual method is adequate for the identification of patients with clinically significant lesions and candidates for myocardial revascularization procedures.

Abstract: this study analyzes the survival of gastric cancer patients in the city of campinas, s?o paulo state, brazil. data from the campinas population-based cancer registry (rcbp) related to gastric cancer cases diagnosed from 1991 to 1994 were analyzed. observed and relative survival rates were calculated, and to compare rates between different groups and international populations, the relative mortality risk was used. one-year relative survival rate for patients with gastric cancer was 33%, and five-year relative survival was 9%, confirming the poor prognosis of gastric cancer. gender had no influence on survival, while the prognosis was better for young people. there was a gradient of severity from the localized to the metastatic state, not statistically significant. the group with undifferentiated adenocarcinomas had longer survival, with 47% of patients alive after the first year, whereas only 7% of those without a histological classification survived the first year after diagnosis. compared with international results like the pool of european registries, the risk was greater, especially considering the five-year survival rates.

Abstract: due to the lack of speech therapists at various regions of brazil to assist patients with cleft lip and palate, new intervention programs must be developed for these individuals. intensive speech therapy has been cited in literature as an alternative modality. this article relates the experience of four cleft lip patients, comparing their speech performances before and after the intensive intervention. the subjects, three adults and one adolescent with compensatory articulatory disorders, were engaged in an intensive summer training program. for each patient, intervention was carried out daily for three hours, during 10 days, divided into individual and group therapy. at the beginning and at the end of that period, patients were assessed by a speech therapist who did not participate in the sessions. a sample of spontaneous speech, counting from 1 to 20 and repetition of a list of words and sentences with oral occlusive and fricative phonemes were recorded on video tape. all patients showed satisfactory development with the intensive therapy program, adapting the worked phonemes in directed speech, but still requiring follow-up therapy to automatize their production. intensive speech therapy was shown to be an efficient and possible alternative in these cases, and could also be a strategy at the beginning of conventional speech intervention.

Archivo Espa?ol de Arte , 2011,
Abstract: Gabriel del Barco was one of the most important tile painters working in Portugal during the transition from the 17th to the 18th centuries. This period is considered to be one of preparation preceding the great, emblematic era of Portuguese tile production during the 18th century. Spanish born, Gabriel del Barco arrived in Lisbon when he was about twenty, and established himself there first as a painter of ceilings and later, as a tile painter. Articles on aspects of his life and work (relatively well-known), have been published, but they have provided only a fragmentary vision of this artist. Thus, this study unites numerous dispersed materials with the addition of heretofore-unknown documents concerning the painter. The author also offers a re-evaluation of the tiles painted by Barco by analyzing his signed tile panels, assisted by the use of new technologies.

Abstract: an experiment was carried out to estimate dietary crude protein and energy requirements of 128 females of japanese quails from 15 to 32 days of age, by the factorial method. a completely randomized design with four treatments with four replicates of eight birds was used. the treatments were: t1 = basal diet (bd) with 24.1% cp and 2,900 kcal amen ad libitum, t2 = 80%, t3 = 60% and t4 = 40% of t1 (close to maintenance). in the beginning of the experimental phase, four groups of 15 quails were slaughtered by cervical displacement. gain requirements were obtained from twelve groups of 15 quails, reared separately and fed ad libitum, therefore, four groups of fifteen birds were slaughtered at 22, 29 and 32 days of age. at the final of the experiment, all birds from pens were slaughtered to estimate the requirements of maintenance by the comparative slaughter methodology. the prediction models to estimate daily requirements of cp and amen for japanese quails maintenance and gain from 15 to 32 days of age were, respectively: cp (g/bird/d) = 4.752.w.75 + 0.865.g and amen (kcal/bird/d) = 91.480.w.75 + 8.86.g, where cp is crude protein, w is live weight (kg), g is weight gain and amen is apparent metabolizable energy nitrogen-corrected (kcal).
