Lifestyles and Their Impact on Energy-Related Investment Decisions  [PDF]
Maria Gr?ger, Victoria Schmid, Thomas Bruckner
Low Carbon Economy (LCE) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/lce.2011.22014
Abstract: This paper presents an empirical survey of energy-related investment decisions made by private households in Germany. The investment behaviour is segmented and discussed by applying the milieu approach. The decision makers are clustered in certain lifestyles, as represented by the Sinus-Milieus® from the Sinus Institute. To analyse the relationship between the lifestyles of house owners and their energy-related investment decisions, telephone interviews were conducted in order to acquire data on currently installed heating systems and preferences for future heating systems in private residential buildings. The results of the survey support the hypothesis of a link between lifestyles and the energy-related investment behaviour. Based on the observed relationship between lifestyles and decisions on energy technologies, predictions of energy trends in private residential buildings can be improved. In addition, the knowledge about specific development paths allows the utilisation of the information for information campaigns and the promotion of energy supply technologies which lead to lower CO2-emissions.
Influence of Si and Ge Microalloying Additions and Plastic Deformation on Precipitation Processes in Al-Cu Based Alloys  [PDF]
Maria Victoria Castro Riglos, Alfredo Tolley
Journal of Minerals and Materials Characterization and Engineering (JMMCE) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jmmce.2018.63025
Abstract: The combined effect of micro-alloying with Si and Ge and/or plastic deformation prior to ageing at 160°C on age hardening has been studied in an Al-2 at% Cu alloy. The results obtained indicate that the hardness response is faster and the peak hardness is higher when plastic deformation and micro-alloying are applied together than performing each procedure individually. Different amounts of deformation, ranging from 0% to 30% have been utilized. An optimum deformation degree for the hardening response has been established around 8% for the Al-Cu-Si-Ge alloy. Characterization by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) shows that the peak hardness is due to a complex microstructure that contained θ\" disc shaped precipitates, rod-shaped Si-Ge precipitates and θ' plates that were heterogeneously nucleated on the Si-Ge particles. Pre-deformation has been found to stimulate the growth of the θ' plates due to enhanced diffusion along dislocation cores. Increasing deformation reduces the influence of the Si-Ge precipitates on heterogeneous nucleation, leading to reduced peak hardness and faster over-ageing.
Ribeiro, Victoria Maria Brandt;
Physis: Revista de Saúde Coletiva , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-73311999000200006
Abstract: the article points out the reason for choosing habermas' theory of communicative action as reference for a work on curriculum. it approaches the main trends that have characterized the meaning of curriculum, by focusing on the categories of the theory of communicati ve action which allow for comprehension beyond the critical trend. as a result, it provides methodological indicators that favor the turning of the teaching practice into a permanent process of knowledge construction that willlead to argumentative competences, within ideal contexts of communication and comprehension- oriented actions.

Abstract: problem-based learning is a pedagogical strategy widely applied in many universities worldwide with the purpose of improving the learning out come of the students who become the center of the process. this paper presents a case report illustrating an experience, its evolving process and subsequent results of a problem-based learning (pbl) application during five semesters in a process management and control course for under graduate programs of industrial engineering and management engineering in colombia. the teacher's role and student assessments are critical elements for the evaluation of the pbl implementation process.
Ribeiro, Victoria Maria Brant;
Trabalho, Educa??o e Saúde , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1981-77462005000100006
Abstract: this article is a product of research work about initiatives of curricular innovation based on the national curricular guidelines (dcn) and carried out in state medical schools in the states of minas gerais and rio de janeiro. one of these schools is connected with the programme to promote curricular changes in medical education (promed). in the analysis of the empirical material, three questions - respectively of a methodological, political and historic-cultural and scientific nature - correspond to what we present in this article, namely: the discussion about the innovation concept; the various developments of the analysis of the speeches, that enable us to draw a profile of the current situation of the medical education in the selected institutions, and thus to have a clear picture of the pedagogical perspectives and conceptions in medical education and estimate the knowledge levels of the dcn, from the teachers' and pupils' points of view; and the students' expectations with regard to the training and its connection with the world of work. the methodology selected follows the principles of qualitative research and, for this reason, we used the focal group interview technique. this technique gives us the empirical material that, analyzed theoretically, is presented once more to the actors (teachers, administrators, and students) inserted in practical activities oriented to the curricular innovations.
Cirlot, Maria Victoria
Gladius , 1978, DOI: 10.3989/gladius.1978.138
Abstract: Not available.
The piano of the music salon. A case study in Guadalajara de Buga, 1890- 1930
Maria Victoria Casas Figueroa
HISTOReLo : Revista de Historia Regional y Local , 2010,
Abstract: The article analyzes, from the bound scores and manuscript works, among other sorts of sources, salon music and piano interpretation in Guadalajara de Buga (Valle del Cauca) between 1897 and 1930, in particular, the role played by the female pianists, the composers, and local directors. The author also studies reported musical composition and tendencies, the distinct rhythmic schemes of the waltz and the pasillo manifested in the writing of piano music. She identifies that for certain tunes such as the waltz, the pasillo, among others, the different ways of using the instrument and the keys which exist, and that repertoire harmony is made by the tonal environment. The piano is shown to be a differentiating factor, with regard to collectivity.
