Abstract: brazil has 58 cataloged meteorites for scientific studies; a low number compared to countries in europe and the united states. the samples studied belong to a collection of 17 meteorites from the mineralogy museum professor djalma guimar?es - mmpdg in belo horizonte, minas gerais. ten of those meteorites were found in brazil; among them are the bocaiúva and jo?o pinheiro meteorites. the bocaiúva meteorite, the third heaviest (64kg), was found around 1947 in the town of bocaiúva, located 384km from belo horizonte, in the state of minas gerais. besides the bocaiúva meteorite, there is also, in the mmpdg, another fragment cataloged as "bocaiúva meteorite", which is actually a fragment from a different meteoritic body, called jo?o pinheiro, yet to be cataloged. the mineralogical differences, especially regarding the silicate portions of the bocaiúva, as well as fluid and melted inclusions, leave no doubt that they belong to different meteorites. minerals such as kamacite, taenita, troilite, schreibersita and graphite are found in the jo?o pinheiro meteorite, while in bocaiúva are present forsterite, kamacite, taenita, troilite, schreibersite, pentlandita, magnetite, chromite, pigeonite, diopside, enstatite, plagioclase, apatite, calcite and goethite.

Abstract: The present study describes the occurrence of psychiatric comorbid disorders in a cohort of 86 high functioning autism (HFA)/Asperger syndrome (AS) patients, examined at Child Neurology and Psychiatry Unit of Tor Vergata University. 38 patients out of 86 (44.2%) presented one or more psychiatric comorbidities, such as mood disorders, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Tourette syndrome (TS), anxiety disorders, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and psychotic symptoms. We compared our sample with the evidences from the scientific literature on psychiatric comorbidity in ASD patient, in particular in HFA/AS. In this paper we focus on the high frequency of comorbid psychiatric disorders in HFA/AS patients, such as mood disorders, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Tourette syndrome (TS), anxiety disorders, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and psychosis, including schizophrenia. We analyzed rates of all psichiatric comorbidities diagnosed in a sample of HFA/AS subjects and we compared findings from our study with the evidences from the scientific literature on psychiatric comorbidity in ASD patients, in particular HFA/AS. We point out that comorbid psychiatric symptoms can be hardly diagnosed, because they could present atipically in ASDs then in general population. Furthermore, they could be masked by ASD core symptoms.

Background: Items from respiratory questionnaires validated in older children are often used in research studies of preterm infants, although they have not been validated in this population. We aimed to assess both test-retest reliability and convergent validity of a group of commonly used respiratory questionnaire items in a cohort of preterm infants. Methods: The health status of 300 preterm infants was assessed by telephone questionnaire as part of a prospective cohort study. The questionnaire items analyzed in this study included six commonly used respiratory questions. The questionnaire responses used in this analysis were from the telephone follow-up in this cohort at six months of age adjusted for prematurity. A repeat interview one to two weeks after this interview was performed in a subset of subjects to assess test-retest reliability. The convergent validity of the respiratory items was also assessed by calculating the associations among the responses to the respiratory questions. Results: A total of 43 infants were singletons that met the criteria for test-retest reliability analysis. All of the respiratory questions demonstrated fair to strong test-retest reliability. Among 206 respondents, respiratory questionnaire items also demonstrated strong convergent validity, in that caretakers reporting wheezing or whistling in the chest were significantly more likely to also report other respiratory events. Conclusions: This selection of standard respiratory questionnaire items performed well for research purposes in this population.

Abstract: based on the analysis of a study held at the oil sector in 1996, the article presents the principles of the clinic of activity (clinique de l'activité) - a method for analyzing and understanding work developed by yves clot in france -, reflecting on its possible contribution to the field of safety at work. the author concludes that the concepts of professional framework and style (genre et style professionels) proposed by yves clot are essential for the comprehension of work related accidents and its causes.
Dependência química e trabalho: uso funcional e disfuncional de drogas nos contextos laborais
Lima, Maria Elizabeth Antunes;
Revista Brasileira de Saúde Ocupacional , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0303-76572010000200008
Abstract: the theme of this article is drug use in work context, and the objective is to analyze it from continuous use that does not bring severe consequences to the user to use that leads to his/her addiction. based on literature review concerning this subject, a reflexion is proposed, which, among other aspects, includes a classification of drug intake in functional and dysfunctional manners. in the first, drug is used as a "work tool" and it does not prevent work from being accomplished; in the second, there is a change of the drug consumption pattern that deeply affects professional performance. while transitioning from functional to dysfunctional uses, drug transforms from a means to an end to the end itself. however, even in functional use, the users' relationship with their activities can be basically adaptive (although this might not occur to most of them), and therefore, it cannot be considered healthy.
