Temperature measurements by oh lif and chemiluminescence kinetic modeling for ethanol flames

Abstract: oh lif-thermometry was applied to premixed ethanol flames at atmospheric pressure in a burner for three flame conditions. flame temperatures were simulated from energy equation with premix code of chemkin software package for comparison. a kinetic modeling based on a model validated through chemiluminescence measurements and on a set of reactions for nitrogen chemistry was evaluated. marinov's mechanism was also tested. sensitivity analysis was performed for fuel-rich flame condition with φ = 1.34. simulated temperatures from both reaction mechanisms evaluated were higher than experimental values. however, the proposed kinetic modeling resulted in temperature profiles qualitatively very close to the experimental.

Abstract: O objetivo deste artigo é contribuir para uma fundamenta o do trabalho docente e do educador social, tendo como base exploratória a potência e ato em Aristóteles. No primeiro momento aborda-se o contexto da prática aristotélica; já no segundo, discorre-se de forma exploratória pelos caminhos das competências sob a exigência das novas tendências educacionais. E sobre a fundamenta o da teoria educacional de Aristóteles foi utilizada uma análise historiográfica da obra ética a Nic maco. Como resultado pode-se perceber que o pragmatismo de Aristóteles pode se relacionar com as competências vivenciadas pela experiência dos indivíduos no ensino atual.The aim of this paper is to contribute to a foundation of teaching and of the social educator, having as an exploratory basis the power and act in Aristotle. At first, it addresses the practical context of Aristotle, then, it discusses in an exploratory way the paths of skills under the demands of the new educational trends. Moreover, on the merits of Aristotle's educational theory, a historiographical analysis of the work Nicomachean Ethics was used. As a result, we can see that Aristotle's pragmatism can relate to the skills experienced by individuals in current education.

As a primary source, the book entitled "Politics" provided the understanding of city education. As a result, it is possible to see that the educational system of Aristotle is a broad organization that begins significantly in the family.

Abstract: the present paper shows experimental results about soot suppression on a laboratorial scale jet free diffusion flame of liquefied petroleum gas submitted to acoustic oscillations. the experiments were conducted to verify the influence of amplitude and frequency of oscillations in the regions of soot formation and suppression through the flame. to quantify the soot presence the laser induced incandescence was utilized. the results show combinations of frequency and amplitude of oscillation which the presence of soot is close to zero.
Hydrotherapy treatment for patients with psoriatic arthritis—A qualitative study  [PDF]

Abstract: Purpose: To describe how patients living with psoriatic arthritis experience long-term hydrotherapy group treatment. Studies for this group of patients are lacking. Method: Qualitative in terviews were conducted with ten informants after hydrotherapy treatment. The treatment included exercises for increased mobility, coordination, endurance, aerobic fitness, stretching and relaxation. The interviews were analysed with content analysis. Results: A theme “hydrotherapy—a multidimensional experience” and two categories emerged: situational factors and effects of hydrotherapy. The category “situ- ational factors” comprised the subcategories: warm water, training factors and a competent instructor, and the category “effects of hydro- therapy” comprised the subcategories: psy- chological effects, improved physical capacity, social effects, changed pain experience and changes in work and participation in daily life. Conclusion: Positive effects of regular hydro- therapy in a group setting were shown in physical ability, energy, sleep, cognitive function, work and participation in daily life. The instruc- tors had an important coaching role, which needs to be promoted.
An Alternative Manifold for Cosmology Using Seifert Fibered and Hyperbolic Spaces  [PDF]

We propose a model with 3-dimensional spatial sections, constructed from hyperbolic cusp space glued to Seifert manifolds which are in this case homology spheres. The topological part of this research is based on Thurston’s conjecture which states that any 3-dimensional manifold has a canonical decomposition into parts, each of which has a particular geometric structure. In our case, each part is either a Seifert fibered or a cusp hyperbolic space. In our construction we remove tubular neighbourhoods of singular orbits in areas of Seifert fibered manifolds using a splice operation and replace each with a cusp hyperbolic space. We thus achieve elimination of all singularities, which appear in the standard-like cosmological models, replacing them by “a torus to infinity”. From this construction, we propose an alternative manifold for cosmology with finite volume and without Friedmann-like singularities. This manifold was used for calculating coupling constants. Obtaining in this way a theoretical explanation for fundamental forces is at least in the sense of the hierarchy.

Educational Policies and the Quality of Teaching: Perceptions of Portuguese Teachers  [PDF]

Abstract: The educational and curricular policies of the last two decades reflect attention to the quality of teaching by associating it with educational success, the improvement of student learning and the professional development of teachers. In this article we present some of the results of an investigation carried out with Portuguese teachers from the first cycle of basic education, who had, as their main objective, the understanding of the impact of educational and curricular policies on the development and identity of teachers, as well on the quality of teaching. We took as references various legal documents, especially the new Statute for a Teaching Career (STC) and the Evaluation of Teacher Performance (ETP) and other programs implemented by the Portuguese Ministry of Education. This longitudinal study was carried out over three years and it adopted a methodology of both a qualitative and quantitative nature, which permitted us to understand the perceptions of teachers of the first cycle of basic education using: 1) written and oral biographical narratives; 2) discussion groups formed specially for the purpose; and 3) replies from 249 questionnaires returned by teachers of this cycle. In this text we will report the results of analyzing the replies from the questionnaires and the statistical analysis made with the Chi-squared Test and the T-Test, which corroborate other studies carried out, particularly at an international level and which reveal that the teachers felt that the educational policies interfered negatively with their work, thus provoking: a weakening of their professional relationships, interaction with their peers and their collaborative work, as well as professional demotivation and disinvestment with a resulting negative impact on the quality of their teaching.

Abstract: Hedge has been proposed as an adaptive scheme, which guides the player’s hand in a multi-armed bandit full information game. Applications of this game exist in network path selection, load distribution, and network interdiction. We perform a worst case analysis of the Hedge algorithm by using an adversary, who will consistently select penalties so as to maximize the player’s loss, assuming that the adversary’s penalty budget is limited. We further explore the performance of binary penalties, and we prove that the optimum binary strategy for the adversary is to make greedy decisions.
