Peculiaridades do transtorno obsessivo-compulsivo na infancia e na adolescência
Rosario-Campos, Maria Concei??o do;
Revista Brasileira de Psiquiatria , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-44462001000600008
Abstract: obsessive-compulsive disorder (ocd) has a bimodal age of onset and a range of treatment outcomes. although most of the studies carried out so far have considered childhood and adult forms of ocd as the same disorder, more recent data have suggested that ocd children, as well as adults with an early onset of their obsessive-compulsive symptoms, may represent a distinct subgroup. this review briefly summarizes the most common clinical characteristics of the ocd presentation in children and adolescents, shows data reinforcing the idea that age of onset may be an important distinguishing feature and discusses the importance of a systematic assessment of age of onset for identifying more homogeneous subgroups of ocd patients.

Abstract: objective: to describe the recruitment of patients, assessment instruments, implementation, methods and preliminary results of the brazilian research consortium on obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders, which includes seven university sites. method: this cross-sectional study included a comprehensive clinical assessment including semi-structured interviews (sociodemographic data, medical and psychiatric history, disease course and comorbid psychiatric diagnoses), and instruments to assess obsessive-compulsive (yale-brown obsessive-compulsive scale and dimensional yale-brown obsessive-compulsive scale), depressive (beck depression inventory) and anxious (beck anxiety inventory) symptoms, sensory phenomena (universidade de s?o paulo sensory phenomena scale), insight (brown assessment beliefs scale), tics (yale global tics severity scale) and quality of life (medical outcome quality of life scale short-form-36 and social assessment scale). the raters' training consisted of watching at least five videotaped interviews and interviewing five patients with an expert researcher before interviewing patients alone. the reliability between all leaders for the most important instruments (structured clinical interview for dsm-iv, dimensional yale-brown obsessive-compulsive scale, universidade de s?o paulo sensory phenomena scale) was measured after six complete interviews. results: inter-rater reliability was 96%. by march 2008, 630 obsessive-compulsive disorder patients had been systematically evaluated. mean age (±se) was 34.7 (±0.51), 56.3% were female, and 84.6% caucasian. the most prevalent obsessive compulsive symptom dimensions were symmetry and contamination. the most common comorbidities were major depression, generalized anxiety and social anxiety disorder. the most common dsm-iv impulsive control disorder was skin picking. conclusion: the sample was composed mainly by caucasian individuals, unmarried, with some kind of occupational activity, mean age of 35 years, on
Desidrogena??o do etilbenzeno sobre compostos de ferro e alumínio
Oliveira, Alcinéia Concei??o;Rangel, Maria do Carmo;
Química Nova , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-40422003000200005
Abstract: chromium and potassium-doped iron oxides are widely used as industrial catalysts in the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to produce styrene. they have several advantages but deactivate with time, because of the loss of potassium. also, they are toxic due to chromium compounds. therefore there is a need for developing alternative non toxic catalysts without potassium. then, iron and aluminum compounds were prepared by different methods in this work. different phases were produced depending on the preparation method. aluminum-doped hematite was more active and selective to styrene than the aluminum ferrite. aluminum acts both as textural and structural promoter in the catalysts.

Abstract: Introduction: Hospital Recreation (HR) aims to reduce disasters caused by hospital admission. Objectives: To expose the behavior of children in cancer treatment (CA) during HR, and to verify which recreational activities generate the most adherence. Methods: The research is an experimental clinical trial of a non-probabilistic and intentional sample, with a quantitative and qualitative approach. Participants were 43 children (both sexes), with CA, admitted to the Pediatric Hospital Oncology CenterPHOC. The mean age of the children in fact was 7.5 years, and the data of mean and standard deviation between parenthood confer with the data of the results found during the research. The study lasted 12 weeks, with 38 sessions lasting 3 hours. Using games of activity: cognitive, manipulative, perceptive, creative and cooperative. Inclusion criteria: 1) being hospitalized in the PHOC, of the city of Natal; 2) being released by the medical team to participate in the activities. Children who were on special care in the ICU were excluded from the study. The behavior of the children was evaluated by the observation matrix proposed by Urie Bonfenbrenner, approached by Krebs and Koller. At

This article deals with the modus operandi of the egressed students of higher education, native from the rural area, with work experience in their childhood and that had access to the best courses at Vale do Acaraú University, Sobral, Ceará. The discussed autobiographical research was relevant bearing in mind that, in their life history, the personal and familiar strategies preponderated over the context of poverty, subsistence, since the childhood during the primary school teaching, the adolescence in the middle school, until the youth in the university. The main strategies verified in their narratives are related to the social capital (interpersonal relationships), the knowledge and values transmitted by the family. We can verify the urgency of public policies of inclusion in the higher education in order to suit a considerable demand of people that doesn’t have access to higher education, or have access, and with difficulty, continue studying and graduate, specially at UVA (Vale do Acaraú University) that, being a state university, doesn’t apply the new “democratic” policies of teaching in higher education, such as ENEM and PROUNI. The results of the

Abstract: objective: to assess the impact of nutritional attention on the lipid profile and nutritional status of hypercholesterolemic patients attended in health centers of belo horizonte. methods: using nutritional attendance patient record cards from two health units, the evolution of the lipid profile and the nutritional state (bmi) was monitored of 96 hypercholesterolemic patients who received diet. the patients were appraised at the following moments: initial (1st consultation), after 3 months (2nd consultation) and last consultation (variable for each patient). results: on the first attendance, 44,4% of the patients presented not only high total cholesterol and ldl-c, but also hypertriglyceridemia and 70.3% were overweight or obese, but most patients (75.6%) presented adequate hdl-c levels. there was significant reduction in the bmi, total cholesterol, ldl-c values (p < 0.01) and also in the triglyceride levels (p < 0.05) in the first three months, without alteration in the hdl-c levels. a significant reduction (p < 0.01) was observed in the frequency of individuals with high cholesterol (from 89.6% down to 47.9%), high and very high ldl-c (from 82.6% down to 45.7%), as well as high and very high triglyceride (from 43.6% down to 16.7%). the observed reduction in frequency of the low hdl-c was statistically meaningless. conclusion: this study evidences the effect of the nutritional attention on lipid profile in hypercholesterolemic patients, reinforcing the need for a multiprofessional team to attend them at the public health services.
A??o promotora do zinco em catalisadores de síntese do estireno
Leite, Hugo Ernane Bonfim;Oliveira, Alcineia Concei??o;Rangel, Maria do Carmo;
Química Nova , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-40422004000200014
Abstract: ethylbenzene dehydrogenation in the presence of steam is the main commercial route to produce styrene. the industrial catalyst is chromium and potassium-doped hematite, which easily deactivates with time due to potassium loss. in order to find non-toxic and potassium free catalysts, the promoter action of zinc on hematite was studied in this work. it was found that zinc acts as structural promoter by stabilizing the fe3+ species (active phase) as maghemite. although it decreases the specific surface area, it increases four times the catalytic activity as compared to hematite.
