Bragantia , 1989, DOI: 10.1590/S0006-87051989000100001
Abstract: extracts from leaves and roots of three sugarcane varieties and their somaclones: na56-79 (at seven and nine month old plants), iac68-12 and iac68-144 (both at nine month old plants) were obtained. the peroxidase and esterase isoenzyme contents of the extracts were determined to verify the genetic variability of tissue culture somaclones. the peroxidase specific activity was studied in relation to the time and isoenzymatic pattern. the peroxidase and esterase zymograms showed distinct differences among varieties, and the esterase presented less bands but easier to characterize than the peroxidase bands. the root zymograms exhibited great enzymatic variation due to the presence of old roots thus not allowing to characterize the varieties. no differences in peroxidase or esterase zymograms among somaclones of the same variety were noticed. the na56-79 presented lower specific activity of peroxidase and number of isoenzymes than iac68-144, suggesting that the decrease of isoenzyme bands is associated to the reduction of enzymatic activity. the specific activity of peroxidase changed with maturity and was higher at nine than at seven month old plants.

Abstract: this article aims to place the division of the subject who emerged from the technical conditions of the contemporary industrial production. on the one hand, it investigates the distinctive features of the modern technical assemblies in order to apprehend its supposition of the subject. on the other hand, it approaches the entropy manifestations of technical working which reaches the workers as solutions found in the movement of individualization. it demonstrates that the modern technical conditions are demanding from the subjects the mark in the body as an active resource of individualization.

Abstract: It was possible, through this research, to get to some considerations about the design and structure of the first squares and chapels in the North of Parana state. The church occupies a privileged and good position in the urban area. Its dimensions are proportional to the city size, having distinction in relation to the houses. The avenues and urban equipments, such as train and bus station, define the position of the church, which is general/y centralized. In the rural zone, whose spacial shape demonstrates a voluntary formation, the church appears as an essential instrument in the social life. It has a kind of public square around it which keeps its characteristics as time goes by. It does not happen in the urban zone, where the squares lose their distinction do not have the public platform in its midst. The church is general/y in the centre of the square. It has simple characteristics in the structure and in the use of the space. Its proportions may be changed according to the city growth. One could notice the existence of architectonic models, similar to some well known churches, but they are "translated into the wooden languages. The churches have similar characteristics according to their positions. This research was restricted only to churches and squares in the North of Paraná; it did not consider the examples in the South Region.

Abstract: seven sugarcane clones obtained in crosses made in 1980 were tested in four locations and two oxisol soils at jaú region. the commercial varieties na56-79, iac67-112, iac70-22, sp70-1143 and sp71-1406 were used as controls in trials planted in randomized blocks. the genotipes were evaluated in three harvestings, from plant cane trough second ratoon. the following parameters were considered: cane and sugar yield, fiber% and pol% cane. all clones showed inferior in sugar content than the controls, but five of them showed at least better performance in cane yield than var. na56-79 which acted as the worst control for this character. the clone iac80-3062, showed better sugar productions than na56-79. this clone can be recommended as a late-of-season variety for the region.
Estudos sobre educa??o rural no Brasil: estado da arte e perspectivas
Damasceno, Maria Nobre;Beserra, Bernadete;
Educa??o e Pesquisa , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-97022004000100005
Abstract: this work maps out and discusses the knowledge created in the area of rural education during the 1980s and 1990s, with the purpose of outlining the 'state-of-the-art' in this field of investigation. among other aspects, this article introduces and discusses the most recurring themes of study, the regional organization of this production and, towards the end, the current trends and the themes still not sufficiently explored. markedly bibliographical, and restricted to the academic production in the area of education, this work is based on the following sources: 1. master and doctoral dissertations found in the anped (national association for graduate studies and research in education) database; 2. brazilian academic journals; and 3. the main books focusing on the theme of rural education published within this period of time. one of the conclusions is that there is an increasing academic production discussing the issue of rural education from the point of view of the target population, that is, the rural workers. such trend, however, is not born out of foresight or extreme sensitivity on the part of the researchers, but springs from the circumstances of the reality under study, since the rural workers, through their political organization, have become sufficiently visible to draw to themselves the attention of researchers.

Abstract: the objective of the present work is to make a study of leaf anatomy through optic microscopy and eletronic microscopy of scanning in mentha spicata l. and mentha spicata x suaveolens, characterizing the leaf blade histology. cross and paradermic sections of the leaf, showed the presence of uniseriate epidermal cells covered by a fine cuticle layer, presenting gland trichomes of multicellular type capitate and peltate and no gland trichomes, not ramified. the mesophyll of both species mantain with uniseriate palisade parenchyma only in high epidermal, prolonged cells, and rich in cytoplasmic inclusions. lacunary parenchyma is formed by 3 to 4 layers of irregular cells. the capitate trichomes are classified as type i they presented with a basal, a pedunculary and a great apical cell, whose format varies from circular to periform. peltate trichomes consist of a basal cell, a short, wide and unicellular stalk cell, with cutinized external walls and one great multicellular head with 12 secretory cells distributed in two concentrical circles. the trunk has 4 cells and the external one 8 cells, which accumulate the product of the secretion in a cavity between cuticle and the secretor cells, as the foot of glandular trichomes is inserted in 11 epidermal cells. there is a predominance of capitate trichomes in relation to peltate trichomes in both species of mentha.
As diferen?as rítmicas entre o português europeu e o português brasileiro: uma abordagem otimalista e minimalista

Abstract: the aim of this paper is to discuss some rhythmic differences between european and brazilian portuguese and their relationship to pretonic vowel reduction phenomena. after the basic facts of pe and pb are presented, we show that the issue cannot be discussed without taking into account secondary stress placement, and we proceed to present the algorithm-based approach to secondary stress in portuguese, representative of metrical phonology analyses. after showing that this deterministic approach cannot adequately explain the variable position of secondary stress in both languages regarding words with an even number of pretonic syllables, we argue for the interpretation of secondary stress and therefore for the construction of rhythmic units at the pf interface, as suggested in chomsky?s minimalist program. we also propose, inspired by the constrain hierarchies as proposed in optimality theory, that such interpretation must take into account two different constraint rankings, in ep and bp. these different rankings would ultimately explain the rhythmic differences between both languages, as well as the different behavior of pretonic vowels with respect to reduction processes.
