Texto & Contexto - Enfermagem , 2011,

Texto & Contexto - Enfermagem , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-07072011000200016
Abstract: this descriptive and exploratory study aimed to verify the existence of factors related to the standardization of urinary catheters in a city in the interior of the state of s?o paulo, brazil. data was collected through interviews after approval obtained from the research ethics committee of the university of s?o paulo at ribeir?o preto school of nursing. of the nine hospital institutions who took part in the study, 100% have a standardized procedure for urinary catheterization. the institutions present differences in the proposed procedure, which interferes positively and negatively in its standardization and places doubt upon whether the standardized procedure is indeed being carried out. this study concludes that there is a need to reevaluate the proposed standardization, with interdisciplinary discussions to verify if the proposal is being carried out and to search for applicable training and teaching strategies.

Abstract: this study aimed to describe the characteristics of service in a hemotherapy unit in the interior of the state of s?o paulo in 2009. all ethical guidelines were followed and a survey was carried out in the database of the unit. during the observed period, the unit shows greater rate of repetition donors, with low levels of adverse reactions and 100% of donors' satisfaction. the units of clinical medicine and intensive therapy were the sectors with highest consumption of transfusions at the hospital service. the described unit is self-sufficient at managing its resources. the present study shows the need to explore the dimensions of the professional roles in hemotherapy, the possibilities of finding new donors, the reasons that lead patients to donate blood, characteristics, epidemiological profile and satisfaction of receptors.

Abstract: OBJETIVO: Este estudo buscou identificar e descrever mitos e rituais no preparo do paciente para a inser o do cateter urinário. Dentre as 13 institui es do município, nove participaram do estudo.
Bezerra, Maria Auxiliadora;
Linguagem em (Dis)curso , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1518-76322010000300010
Abstract: the aims in this paper are to describe the genre of defense of academic works, identifying typified forms that are characteristic of the defense of dissertations and theses, and to demonstrate that they do not constitute different genres, since identical behaviors are displayed in order to reach the same goals: to acquire an academic title. thus, under the perspective of the socio-rhetorical studies audio recordings of eight defenses were analyzed, as well as the answers from professors and graduate students to the question "what is a defense of a thesis/dissertation?" the analyses showed the presence of identical typified forms (as the exposition text-summary, questioning, answers), and singular data (relaxed situation, informality and the use of words showing proximity), allowing one to make some conclusions: "defense of a graduation work" may be used as a superordinate phrase; singularities depend more on the participants in the social interaction in which the defense takes place, than on the social action of the defense of the work, while the specification "dissertation/thesis" reflects the written genre, which originate its oral defense.
Surface electrical charge of bloodstream trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi strains
Sousa, Maria Auxiliadora de;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1983, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761983000400014
Abstract: bloodstream trypomastigotes of some trypanosoma cruzi strains were processed through deae-cellulose columns under standardized conditions. the results obtained suggest mainly that these strains present different surface charges, that there are subpopulations of bloodstream trypomastigotes as regards electrical charges and that the broad forms are less negative than the slender ones.
A simple method to purify biologically and antigenically preserved bloodstream trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi using Deae-cellulose columns
Sousa, Maria Auxiliadora de;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1983, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761983000300009
Abstract: a method to purify trypanosomastigotes of some strains of trypanosoma cruzi (y, cl, fl, f, "berenice", "colombiana" and "s?o felipe") from mouse blood by using deae-cellulose columns was standardized. this procedure is a modification of the lanham & godfrey methods and differs in some aspects from others described to purify t. cruzi bloodstream trypomastigotes, mainly by avoidance of prior purifications of parasites. by this method, the broad trypomastigotes were mainly isolated, accounting for higher recoveries obtained with strains having higher percentages of these forms: processing of infected blood from irradiated mice could be advantageous by increasing the recovery of parasites (percentage and/or total number) and elution of more slender trypomastigotes. trypomastigotes purified by this method presented normal morphology and motility, remained infective to triatomine bugs and mice, showing in the latter prepatent periods and courses parasitemia similar to those of control parasites, and also reproducing the polymorphism pattern of each strain. their virulence and pathogenicity also remained considerably preserved, the latter property being evaluated by ld 50 tests, mortality rates and mean survival time of inoculated mice. moreover, these parasites presented positive, clear and peripheral immunofluorescence reaction at titres similar to those of control organisms, thus suggesting important preservation of their surface antigens.
