Abstract: O conceito de necessidades é central no trabalho de Enfermagem. A Teoria das Necessidades Humanas Básicas, formulada por Wanda Horta, influenciou várias gera es de enfermeiras brasileiras e, possivelmente, ainda é a mais presente no ensino e na prática de Enfermagem no Brasil. Entretanto, há outras concep es de necessidades que podem iluminar o trabalho em saúde que, em geral, está organizado para responder a essas necessidades por meio da oferta de servi os padronizados, verticais e prescritivos. Ressignificar o cuidado em saúde e, em especial, os projetos cuidativos da Enfermagem à luz das necessidades em saúde da popula o requer adotar uma concep o de saúde e doen a capaz de interligar aspectos individuais e coletivos. El concepto de necesidades es fundamental para el trabajo de Enfermería. La Teoría de las Necesidades Humanas Básicas, formulada por Wanda Horta, ha influenciado a varias generaciones de enfermeras brasile as y, posiblemente, es el más usado en la práctica y en la educación de enfermería en Brasil. Sin embargo, hay otras concepciones de las necesidades que pueden iluminar el trabajo en salud que, en general, se organiza para satisfacer las necesidades de salud a través de ofertas de servicios estandarizados, verticales y prescriptivos. El replanteamiento del cuidado en salud, especialmente los procesos cuidativos de Enfermería, demanda adoptar un concepto de salud y la enfermedad capaz de vincular aspectos individuales y colectivos. The concept of needs is central to the work of Nursing. The Basic Human Needs Theory, formulated by Wanda Horta, influenced several generations of Brazilian nurses and possibly still is the most widespread in education and nursing practice in Brazil. However, there are other conceptions of needs that can illuminate health work that is, in general, organized to meet health needs through standardized, vertical and prescriptive service offerings. Reframing health care, specially nursing carative projects, demands to adopt a concept of health and disease capable of linking individual and collective aspects.
Construindo o diálogo entre saberes para ressignificar a a??o educativa em saúde

Abstract: objective: to identify ways for establishing a dialogue regarding technical-scientific and common sense knowledge to serve nurses on the development and implementation of effective health education and clinical care. methods: the historical materialism and dialectic served as the theoretical-methodological framework for the study. the sample consisted of 30 individuals: 5 faculty, 5 undergraduate students, 10 registered nurses, 2 administrators, and 8 users of the heath care services. participants' statements were analyzed through discourse analysis. results: health care providers valued the participation and statements of the users of the health care services. the users of health care services showed autonomy as agents in synchrony with the technical-scientific knowledge. conclusion: articulation of both technical-scientific and common sense knowledge is fundamental for the development of effective health education that allows open dialogue and participation of the users of health care services, which potentially can transform the reality of health care delivery.

Abstract: the objective of this study was to identify the meaning of comprehensiveness as found in the discourse of those involved in primary nursing education. the methodological framework employed was historic and dialectical materialism. thirty subjects were interviewed: five professors, five students, ten nurses, two managers and eight patients from two healthcare teaching clinics. discourse was analyzed using the discourse analysis method. although comprehensiveness takes on different meanings in the discourse of the respondents, they are all associated with comprehensiveness know-how, where healthcare is based on a true commitment and a sense of trust between professionals and patients. in conclusion, promoting the comprehensiveness of healthcare is a fundamental competency that needs to be further developed in primary nursing education.

Abstract: nursing education history in brazil was re-visited, beginning with the foundation of the anna nery school of nursing in 1922, followed by the analysis of the teaching programs of 1923, 1926 and 1949, and of the national curriculum for nursing education of 1962, 1972 and 1994. in spite of the fact that modern nursing in brazil was established to qualify nurses to work in public health, since the beginning they were trained in hospitals, with the systematic study of diseases, without giving priority to subjects linked to public health. although the reformulation that resulted in the 1994 curriculum was committed to the construction of an education proposal that was non-hegemonic in nursing, the subdivision in medical specialties was preserved, as a result of the adoption of the flexnerian model. the biomedical, individualized and hospital-based model that influenced nursing education from it origins in brazil is still present and nursing education is not focused on the population needs, being therefore antagonistic to the presuppositions of collective health.

Abstract: the objective of this study was to identify faculty conceptions on evaluation in the professional practice evaluation exercise (ppee). an analysis was performed on 155 evaluation instruments answered by the faculty, and video-recordings of four ppee answered by 1st and 3rd year students. data analysis was performed using the meaning interpretation method. the expressions expressed by the faculty on their conceptions of evaluation were close to the dialogic competence approach, valuing product as much as process, which help reduce the negative effects of an evaluation. changes on conceptions of evaluation require a process of institutional construction, with an active participation of the academic community, taking into consideration their existing conceptions and seeking to reach consensus.

Abstract: this is a study to review the methodological process developed to built a profile of competencies required for nurse's educational actions. it was a qualitative research, in the historical and dialectical materialism, that used competence as the conceptual category, anchored in the conceptions of work in health and operating knowledge. the subjects were teachers and students of the school of nursing of university of sao paulo (usp), brazil; nurses, managers and patients of health services connected to usp. the speech analysis technique was used to analyze the speeches. all groups addressed contained similarities related to knowledge, skills and attitudes required to the development of more dialogical and participative educational practices. the methodological approach described enable the construction of a profile of competencies related to nurse's educational actions, in a collective perspective, closer to the population's health needs.

Abstract: the interpretative theories of the health-illness process that can be identified through history have as consequence intervention projects upon the reality, in response to social needs. until the 19 century, they could be synthesized in two main streams: ontologic and dynamic. in the ontologic conception, illness assumes the character of a natural or supernatural entity, external to the human body, that shows itself when invading it. the dynamic conception sees illness as a product of the disharmony among vital forces, and the re-establishment of the health comes of the restoration of this balance. at the end of the 18 century, the social-environmental paradigms prevailed in europe as forms of explanation for human illness, linked to the dynamic conception, and the first evidences of the social determination of the health-illness process were formulated. the onset of the bacteriologic era made the ontologic conception victorious and its conquests led to the abandon of the social approaches to face the populations health problems. at the present time, one can identify the prevalence of the multicausal theory, with emphasis in the individual conditionings. this paper proposes the articulation of the individual and collective dimensions of the health-illness process, in consonance with the theory of nursing praxical intervention in collective health.
Competencies for educational activities in nursing

Abstract: the focus of this study is the interface between nursing education and nursing care in its educative dimension. objective: to develop a profile of competencies for nursing care education from the perspective of the subjects involved. method: historical and dialectical materialism was used as the theoretical and methodological framework. competence was addressed as the conceptual category, as defined by perrenoud, based on healthcare concepts and on instrumental knowledge as advocated by mendes-gon?alves. results: the analysis of empirical material resulted in the creation of 10 core competencies for nursing education activities. conclusion: the need to give a new meaning to education action from the perspective of popular education implies the development of pedagogical opportunities during their undergraduate studies in order to enable students to use their knowledge and skills to develop a dialogical attitude of recognition of the subjects of nursing care.

Abstract: the aim of this study was to understand how social and health inequalities are expressed in the health-disease profile of individuals with functional losses and dependence receiving home care by family health care program's teams in the administrative districts of the city of s?o paulo. the districts were grouped according to the social exclusion index through a cluster analysis, and a statistical description of the variables was developed in order to compare them. for the city as a whole was verified the prevalence of senior women with light functional losses and dependence requiring low complexity care, compatible with primary health care. districts with major social exclusion had a larger proportion of males less than 60 years old and children with severe disabilities who need care of greater complexity. the article debates the need for home care policies designed for the specificities of the city of s?o paulo instead of policies focused on specific population groups.
