Garcia, Maria Manuela Alves;
Cadernos de Pesquisa , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-15742009000100011
Abstract: this study discusses the functioning of the so-called critical and progressive pedagogical and didactic practices that guide the behavior of critical teachers and left-wing intellectuals in the area of education in brazil in the last decades of the last century. the study appropriates michel foucault's investigations on ethics and modes of subjectivation, explores the forms of ethical work and the morality of pedagogical and teaching behavior inaugurated in brazil by critical pedagogical currents in some approaches of the brazilian pedagogical discourse, as in the thought of paulo freire and the one of dermeval saviani in the beginning of the 1980's, dividing the struggles in the intellectual pitch of brazilian education at the time. emphasis is given to a description of the critical pedagogical technology carried out by these pedagogical approaches in teacher education courses for elementary and higher education. it combines the construction of a pastoral and ascetic moral whose aim was to promote awareness and exercises centred in a hermeneutics of the ego, characterized, among other things, by deciphering the self.
Conteúdos ideológicos da nova direita no município de S?o Paulo: análise de surveys
Alves, Maria Teresa Gonzaga;
Opini?o Pública , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-62762000000200002
Abstract: this article shows some evidences that the ideological content of the new right agenda is spread out amongst the public of the city of s?o paulo. such a particular phenomenon is further associated with a broader disposition, that is, the renewal of the right since the mid 1970s in advanced capitalist societies, and in brazil at large since the late 1980s. the electoral success of the right seems to be associated to its capacity to renew itself and to present its own interests as though social demands. this hypothesis was tested in surveys conducted in the city of s?o paulo in 1993 and 1995. the results of the first investigation indicate that the agenda of the more programmatic right is associated with the richer sectors of the society which, in general, support the neoliberal programme whilst being also anti-leftists. amongst the poorer sectors however, there is more sensitivity towards topics related to morality and authoritarism, as well as statism.
Políticas educacionais contemporaneas: tecnologias, imaginários e regimes éticos
Garcia, Maria Manuela Alves;
Revista Brasileira de Educa??o , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-24782010000300004
Abstract: based on a set of studies that question the global character of educational reforms since the 1990's, and on michel foucault's studies on discourse and on governmentality, the article examines the rationality that has ruled the present educational reforms, emphasising their main technologies of government and their relations with the production of social imaginaries and ethical regimes of individuals. it introduces, by way of illustration, enunciations scattered in official documents produced in brazil or which, in an exogenous way, point to the desired forms of identity and performance for the economic, political and educational individual. it argues that the imaginaries and the regimes of self, promoted by the official educational discourse in brazil, have a hybrid character, allying economicistic and "cosmopolitan" concerns with local demands characterized by the need for justice and social equality. it concludes that the discourse on the reforms and on the promotion of the quality of education has been borrowed to justify the movement to reorganize the brazilian state on a managerialistic basis, and does not modify substantially the conditions of educational inequality among youths from different social classes.
Gon?alves,Teresinha Maria;
Revista INVI , 2009, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-83582009000100004
Abstract: this article is a report and comment on two researches conducted by the author herself in two districts of the city of criciúma-sc, southern brazil, from the environmental psychology perspective. the first one was on the process of appropriation of space by means of living and inhabiting the place, carried out from 2002 to 2006, and the second one deals with sidewalks as city of criciúma-sc's public spaces, carried out in 2007. the objectives were to investigate the process of living and inhabiting, and the appropriation of sidewalks as public spaces. the researches were qualitative and based on case studies. the samples came from 10 residents from each neighborhood and they were chosen for the interviews based on time of living in the area criterion. the representativeness of the sample is not given by statistical data but by the methodological rigor and depth of analysis. the data collection techniques were systematic observation, afield diary, interviews and residents narratives and ethnographic records. the assumption is implicit in the notion of ownership. people only belong to a place when they identify themselves with it. a house ownership becomes a variable of urban sustainability when the subject incorporates contextualized in its surroundings.
