Abstract: dregs is an alkaline solid by-product generated in the cellulose manufacturing industry that could be used to correct soil acidity. the present study aimed to evaluate the chemical composition of this product and some of its properties. the dregs presented 354 g kg-1 of calcium, neutralization capacity of 80.3%, and ph 10.7, besides low concentration of sodium (10.2 g kg-1), lead (62.9 mg kg-1) and cadmium (5.6 mg kg-1). thus, it is a product that can safely be used to increase the soil ph.
Constru??o de uma medida de clima criativo em organiza??es
Crespo, Mari Lucia Figueiredo;
Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-166X2004000200007
Abstract: the present study was developed aiming to define indicative variables of climate to creativeness in the organizational environment. to carry out this study, an instrument was created and applied to a sample of six subjects of both genre, professors of a private university in the inland of s?o paulo state. the instrument is composed of an abjective questionnaire based on previons studies with 13 indicative variables of climate to creativeness. the variables are: motivation and commitment, dynamism and energy, time for ideas, freedom to createve, ludism and humor, support to ideas, discussion and debates, absence of conflict, trust and openess, risk-taking, support to innovation, wages and benefits and tolerance to differences. the results were checked by the analysis of the content of the answers from the data collection. the indications which had fewer answers, that is, the most difficult to be defined were: motivation and commitment and dynamism and energy. the results have shown a good consistency of contents according to the definitions of the subjects and some definitions are similar to other definitions found in studies coducted in brazil by other researchers. we may conclude that these indications can be important variables in the diagnosis of climate to creativity in the work environment.

Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2014.24034
Abstract: This paper presents the trajectory of Portuguese female immigrants who came to the city of Sao Paulo in the last two decades of 20th century and records their surviving strategies, initially looking for work and subsequently as entrepreneurs in their own business: restaurants, travel agency, fado singer, and others. Its primary aim is to identify, from their narratives, the entrepreneurship level of these women and the capital stock equity of their ownership, use, and from which they could be able to develop over four decades living in this huge metropolis. In this context, it is also sought the way social networks supporting their arrival were accessed during their period adapting to the city and on performing their business ventures. The analytical and interpretative path from the face to face interviews with these Portuguese immigrants allows us to conclude that social capital is an extremely relevant resource to entrepreneurship.
Imagens tridimensionais: forma??o e análise
Costa, Eden V.;Almeida, Lucia C.;
Revista Brasileira de Ensino de Física , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1806-11172005000200008
Abstract: three-dimensional images are present in several everyday life situations. however, this topic is not mentioned in most high school and undergraduate physics courses. this fact, as far as we are concerned, is related to the given treatment to image formation observed in physics textbooks for high school level. most of them represent the object reduced to an arrow perpendicular to lenses or mirrors axis, which implies a superficial approach of the matter; besides, it is distant from the students' everyday life context, leaving a gap in their scientific education. the exposed evidences have motivated us to present a simple, though complete, analysis of the subject in order to complement textbooks and enrich discussions about such a fascinating theme.
Urban fall traps

Einstein (S?o Paulo) , 2007,
Abstract: Objectives: To evaluate the repercussion of falls in the elderly peoplewho live in the city of S o Paulo and address - though synthetically- some questions regarding the city and its relation to aging and thequality of life of the elderly. Methods: This is a qualitative study. As fordata collection, “in-depth individual interviews” were applied. Selectionof subjects was guided by a procedure named as “network”. Results:Ten interviews were performed, nine with elderly individuals who werevictims of falls and one with a public authority representative. Dataresulting from interviews confirmed that significant changes occurin live of the elderly, who are victims of what has been called “urbantraps”, and that, by extrapolating mobility and dependence contexts,invade feelings, emotions and desires. The inappropriate environmentprovided by the city of S o Paulo is confirmed by absence of adequateurban planning and lack of commitment of public authorities. It alsorevealed that the particular way of being old and living an elderlylife, in addition to right to citizenship, is reflected by major or lesserdifficulties imposed to the elderly to fight for their rights and have theirpublic space respected. Conclusion: The city of S o Paulo is not anideal locus for an older person to live in. To the traps that are found inpublic places one can add those that are found in private places andthat contribute to the hard experience of falls among the elderly, anexperience that is sometimes fatal. In Brazil, the attention is basicallyfocused on the consequences of falls and not on prevention, by meansof urban planning that should meet the needs of the most vulnerablegroups - the physically disabled and the elderly.
Culpa da vítima: um modelo para perpetuar a impunidade nos acidentes do trabalho
Vilela, Rodolfo Andrade Gouveia;Iguti, Aparecida Mari;Almeida, Ildeberto Muniz;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2004000200026
Abstract: this article analyzes reports and data from the investigation of severe and fatal work-related accidents by the regional institute of criminology in piracicaba, s?o paulo state, brazil. some 71 accident investigation reports were analyzed from 1998, 1999, and 2000. accidents involving machinery represented 38.0% of the total, followed by high falls (15.5%), and electric shocks (11.3%). the reports conclude that 80.0% of the accidents are caused by "unsafe acts" committed by workers themselves, while the lack of safety or "unsafe conditions" account for only 15.5% of cases. victims are blamed even in situations involving high risk in which not even minimum safety conditions are adopted, thus favoring employers' interests. such conclusions reflect traditional reductionist explanatory models, in which accidents are viewed as simple, unicausal phenomena, generally focused on slipups and errors by the workers themselves. despite criticism in recent decades from the technical and academic community, this concept is still hegemonic, thus jeopardizing the development of preventive policies and the improvement of work conditions.

Mathematics , 2012, DOI: 10.1007/s00605-013-0542-x
Abstract: In part I we introduced the class ${\mathcal E}_2$ of Lie subgroups of $Sp(2,\R)$ and obtained a classification up to conjugation (Theorem 1.1). Here, we determine for which of these groups the restriction of the metaplectic representation gives rise to a reproducing formula. In all the positive cases we characterize the admissible vectors with a generalized Calder\'on equation. They include products of 1D-wavelets, directional wavelets, shearlets, and many new examples.
