Abstract: the earth diatomite is a material used by the industries in the filtration process and clarification of the beer. this material presents a reduced useful life due to the blockages of their pores during the filtration process. the objective of this work was to reactivate the properties of filtration of the earth diatomite, saturated with organic matter during the filtration stage, starting from a controlled thermal treatment. the obtained results demonstrated that the earth diatomite saturated with organic matter submitted to a controlled thermal treatment has their filtration properties reactivated, could be reused in the beer production process.

Revista Estudos Feministas , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-026X2008000300020
Abstract: starting from reflections about woman and femininity in the victorian era, the explosion of literary market in the 19th century, and the access of women to education, literature, and journalism, this text introduces the work of marianne north, english painter who used to travel aiming to paint the flora of other countries, particularly the exotic tropical flora. marianne became one of the most famous globetrotter travelers of her time, visiting several countries such as canada, usa, jamaica, brazil, tenerife, japan, borneo, java, ceylon, singapore, india, wales, australia, new zealand, tasmania, south africa, seychelles islands, and chile. in total, she left registers of about 272 genres (almost 1000 species) of plants, some of them little known by the experts. hence, the text deals with the dual condition of marianne north as a painter and author of reports about the visited countries. in brazil, for instance, she lived between 1972 and 1873. her professionalism and objectivity distinguish her from the other travelers of 19th century.
Letters from brazil: travel writing and the female gaze Letters from brazil: travel writing and the female gaze
Ana Lúcia almeida Gazola
Ilha do Desterro , 2008,
Abstract: Travel writers in the previous centuries narrated their experiences abroad not only to understand the new world, but rather to legitimize the colonial project, very often telling more about the Europeans and the Metropolis than about the Other. In this context, the position of women writers who wrote travel texts was often ambiguous in the sense that they had to negotiate between the imperatives of colonial discourse and those of the discourses of femininity. Textos & Contextos (Porto Alegre) , 2003,
