Abstract:
Convexity in locally conformally flat manifolds with boundary
Marcos P. Cavalcante
Mathematics , 2007,
Abstract: Given a closed subset $\La$ of the open unit ball $B_1\subset \real^n$, $n \geq 3$, we will consider a complete Riemannian metric $g$ on $\bar{B_1} \setminus \La$ of constant scalar curvature equal to $n(n-1)$ and conformally related to the Euclidean metric. In this paper we prove that every closed Euclidean ball $\bar{B} \subset B_1\setminus \La$ is convex with respect to the metric $g$, assuming the mean curvature of the boundary $\partial B_1$ is nonnegative with respect to the inward normal.
E-Participation of Selected Professional Students in the Governance of Cabanatuan City in the Philippines  [PDF]

Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2017.512010
Abstract:
The strength of democracy is measured through citizens’ participation in governance. To check the applicability of this theory in local context, the study determined the actual observance of a purposively selected group of professionals pursuing post graduate degree in Public Administration in the Philippines. Using Arnstein Measure of Community Participation, the paper found that there is low level of e-participation among participants as shown by their frequency of access and level of awareness on the city website. Strict adherence to the principle of e-democracy in actual practice is necessary. The paper concluded that electronic participation in governance is both a responsibility and a privilege. There is a need to improve citizens’ willingness to participate in local governance via electronic means. E democracy cannot stand in isolation from citizens’ participation. The study recommended that the Local Government Unit (LGU) should look for ways to bolster citizens’ use of the city website as a vehicle for democratic reforms and participation.
Las vacunas conjugadas contra la enfermedad meningococica causadas por los serogrupos A, C, W-135, Y

Vaccimonitor , 2009,
Abstract: review the current evidence on available and candidate quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccines. methods: a comprehensive overview of data on the currently available a-c-w135-y meningococcal vaccine and the results of late stage development of novel quadrivalent candidate vaccines were reviewed. conclusions: licensure of highly effective meningococcal c conjugate vaccines represented an enormous progress in the possibility of controlling meningococcal c disease. the unpredictable changing serogroup epidemiology of meningococcal disease emphasizes the need of developing combination conjugate vaccines, containing more than one meningococcal polysaccharide, to broaden protection against the disease. a quadrivalent meningococcal vaccine (a-c-w135-y) conjugated to diphtheria toxoid is available only in united states and canada for use in persons 2-55 years of age. however, in infants (the age group with the highest incidence rates of disease) the vaccine proved to be not immunogenic and is therefore not licensed for use in children younger than 2 years.a novel tetravalent meningococcal vaccine (a-c-w135-y) conjugated to a non-toxic diphtheria mutant toxin (crm-197) is being evaluated in phase iii trials and has demonstrated to be immunogenic and well tolerated in all age groups, including infants, representing, at last, a real possibility of a broader protection against meningococcal disease.

A Temperley-Lieb category for 2-manifolds
Marcos Alvarez,Paul P. Martin
Physics , 2007,
Abstract: Guided by consideration of problems in 2 and 3 dimensional lattice model computation, we are led to define a number of new categories, and functors between these categories and the partition category, culminating in the introduction of two categories generalising the Temperley-Lieb category. We show how to compute practically in these categories, by giving a combinatorial realisation of their (topological) construction.
Fredholm methods for billiard eigenfunctions in the coherent state representation
Fernando P. Simonotti,Marcos Saraceno
Physics , 2000, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevE.61.6527
Abstract: We obtain a semiclassical expression for the projector onto eigenfunctions by means of the Fredholm theory. We express the projector in the coherent state basis, thus obtaining the semiclassical Husimi representation of the stadium eigenfunctions, which is written in terms of classical invariants: periodic points, their monodromy matrices and Maslov indices.
Higher-dimensional Temperley-Lieb algebras

Physics , 2007,
Abstract: A category which generalises to higher dimensions many of the features of the Temperley-Lieb category is introduced.

Abstract: research was carried out to evaluate the potential effectiveness of different species of trichogramma as biological control agents of cydia pomonella (l.). five species of trichogramma were evaluated: t. cacoeciae, t. dendrolimi (strain d9), t. platneri and the native species trichogramma sp. "cato" and t. nerudai. they were evaluated by a preference test for eggs of c. pomonella and anagasta kuehniella, and obligated parasitism on eggs of c. pomonella. data were recorded after the fifth day of exposure of the trichogramma to their host. t. nerudai and t. cacoeciae parasitized more eggs of c. pomonella, 65.34% and 52.66% respectively, than the other species. t. cacoeciae and trichogramma sp. "cato" showed a preference for c. pomonella eggs as compared to the other trichogramma. t. nerudai did not reveal a preference for any host. t. dendrolimi and t. platneri displayed a preference for a. kuehniella eggs.
