Abstract: the aim of this article consists in presenting some matters based on our research experience, most of which has been developed in the programa de antropología y educación de la facultad de filosofía y letras, universidad de buenos aires. by rescuing some of our reflections, we want to promote the discussion about the theoretical-methodological possibilities and difficulties that appear when doing educational ethnography in the current conditions and contexts. in this sense, moving away from some characteristics that the ethnography had in its origins, we attempt to use the ethnographic approach or anthropological approach that recovers the subjective dimension of the investigator starting from the reflection about our own assumptions, about the theoretical categories with which we interpret the reality in a spiraled and dialectic process between the field, the theory and the interpretation.

Abstract: We have studied TRPV1, TRPV3, TRPV4, and TRPM8 in nerves (n = 14) and skin from patients with nerve injury, avulsed dorsal root ganglia (DRG) (n = 11), injured spinal nerve roots (n = 9), diabetic neuropathy skin (n = 8), non-diabetic neuropathic nerve biopsies (n = 6), their respective control tissues, and human post mortem spinal cord, using immunohistological methods.TRPV1 and TRPV3 were significantly increased in injured brachial plexus nerves, and TRPV1 in hypersensitive skin after nerve repair, whilst TRPV4 was unchanged. TRPM8 was detected in a few medium diameter DRG neurons, and was unchanged in DRG after avulsion injury, but was reduced in axons and myelin in injured nerves. In diabetic neuropathy skin, TRPV1 expressing sub- and intra-epidermal fibres were decreased, as was expression in surviving fibres. TRPV1 was also decreased in non-diabetic neuropathic nerves. Immunoreactivity for TRPV3 was detected in basal keratinocytes, with a significant decrease of TRPV3 in diabetic skin. TRPV1-immunoreactive nerves were present in injured dorsal spinal roots and dorsal horn of control spinal cord, but not in ventral roots, while TRPV3 and TRPV4 were detected in spinal cord motor neurons. The accumulation of TRPV1 and TRPV3 in peripheral nerves after injury, in spared axons, matches our previously reported changes in avulsed DRG. Reduction of TRPV1 levels in nerve fibres in diabetic neuropathy skin may result from the known decrease of nerve growth factor (NGF) levels. The role of TRPs in keratinocytes is unknown, but a relationship to changes in NGF levels, which is produced by keratinocytes, deserves investigation. TRPV1 represents a more selective therapeutic target than other TRPs for pain and hypersensitivity, particularly in post-traumatic neuropathy. The cloning of the vanilloid receptor-1 (TRPV1) [1,2] has led to greater understanding of the mechanisms of thermosensation and the effects of capsaicin, the noxious component from chilli peppers. TRPV1 is a non

Abstract: in this paper we analyse how social regulations, implicated in public and educative polices, use the idea of educative inclusion from a psychologism point of view of poverty while are mentioned structural and "objective" causes. our research and fieldwork on the "programa todos a estudiar" shows, in one hand, how the exclusion effects related to the low self esteem grows/rise in teenagers that had abandoned their studies and in the other hand, a quasi-missionary praxis related to the use of categories such as rescue, recuperation , etc. to mention the socio-educative intervention that different persons involved in the implementation of the programme does. we assure, as a hypothesis on this paper, that what this individuals persons "does" and "says" produce a contradictory paradox: it is assumed that the school is the best -and unique- place for those teenagers and, at the same time, those educative institutions are considered as the central producers of the processes that promote the social exclusion.
Impact of climate change on waterborne diseases

Annali dell'Istituto Superiore di Sanità , 2012, DOI: 10.4415/ANN_12_04_13
Abstract: change in climate and water cycle will challenge water availability but it will also increase the exposure to unsafe water. floods, droughts, heavy storms, changes in rain pattern, increase of temperature and sea level, they all show an increasing trend worldwide and will affect biological, physical and chemical components of water through different paths thus enhancing the risk of waterborne diseases. this paper is intended, through reviewing the available literature, to highlight environmental changes and critical situations caused by floods, drought and warmer temperature that will lead to an increase of exposure to water related pathogens, chemical hazards and cyanotoxins. the final aim is provide knowledge-based elements for more focused adaptation measures.

Abstract:

Introduction: Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) has an important role in the regulation of reproductive system and a high capacity to stimulate angiogenesis by secretion of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). It could be also used for medical treatment of cryptorchidism, as it stimulates Leydig cells to produce testosterone, but its use has been discussed. Aim of the study was to evaluate the testicular morphological changes due to cyclic administration of hCG possibly related to VEGF effect. Methods: 80 pre-puberal male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided in two groups hCG (50 U/I/ Kg) (n = 55/S) and placebo (n = 25/C) treated. The animals were sacrificed respectively after one (S1 n = 10; C1 n = 5), two (S2 n = 10; C2 n = 5) and three weeks of hCG or placebo treatment (S3 n = 35; C3 n = 15); a blood serum was obtained for evaluation of plasmatic testosterone. The testis, prostates, epididymides and seminal vesicles were drawn and weighted. Specimens were fixed in formalin and coloured by hematoxylin-eosin. Morphometric analysis of Leydig cell number, nuclear area and perimeter was carried out. Immunoistochemistry for VEGF has been performed with the avidin-biotin peroxidase technique. Statistical differences between groups, each of different age, were calculating using Student’s T-test. Results: After the first week of hCG treatment it has been observed an increased testicular weight and volume (+/6%) in experimental respect to control group. This result was not observed after the second and third week of treatment. Significant variations were also observed in the mean prostate weight, whereas mean seminal vesicles weight was significant in the S2 and S3 groups respect to control. In the hCG treated rats it has been observed a poor differentiation of the seminiferous epithelium, with high Leydig cell evidence and increased intertubular eosinophilic material. An interstitial edema was demonstrated without inflammatory cell changes. Morphometric analysis confirmed an increased number of Leydig cells that were always strongly immunostained

Peri-Urban Transformations in Agricultural Landscapes of Perugia, Italy  [PDF]
Marco Vizzari
Journal of Geographic Information System (JGIS) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/jgis.2011.32011
Abstract: Urban fringes represent very complex landscapes because of their proximity and mutual dependency with cities and rural areas. These landscapes may be considered as transition entities characterized by fuzzy boundaries. An uncontrolled development of urban sprawl and land use changes in these areas may deter- mine negative impacts on all natural, economic and social components. Thus, urban fringes assume a key-role in modern landscape analysis, planning and management. Landscape analysis of these interfaces, as this study shows, can be effectively supported by GIS spatial modelling. The Settlement Density Index (SDI), developed through GIS spatial analysis techniques, expresses punctually the territorial gradients generated by the presence of settlements and allows the identification of the urban fringes in the two periods under invest-tigation. These areas are then characterized and analyzed quantitatively using detailed land use data. The comparison of the diachronic information highlights the transformations of peri-urban landscapes that appear mainly related to the modifications of spatial configuration of urban areas and to the changes of agricultural systems.
