Barbosa, Marco Aurélio Alves de Freitas;Nascimento Júnior, Domicio do;Cecato, Ulysses;
Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-35982006000600004
Abstract: this experiment was carried out from march to august 2000, to study the dry matter yield dynamic and performance of steers grazing tanzania grass (panicum maximum jacq. cv. tanzania), under continuous stocking with variable stocking rate, and four forage allowances (3, 7, 11, and 15% bw). crossbred nelore x charolais steers, averaging 18 months and 350 kg bw, were used. a randomized block design, with three replicates, was used. when tanzaniagrass was managed in the 7 to 11% interval of forage allowance, the fertilizer input was minimal (30 kg/ha/yr n), and high average daily gain (adg) was obtained, with no effect on the gain/ha (g/ha). under this condition, pasture showed 1,528 kg/ha green leaf lamina dry matter (glldm); 56 cm of stubble height; 97% soil cover; 62 kg/ha/day of glldm accumulation rate; and 34% green leaf lamina in the total dry matter, with adg of 0.5 kg/day and 126 kg of g/ha.

Acta Cirurgica Brasileira , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-86502007000400014
Abstract: purpose: immunosuppressive agents are known to interfere with the healing of surgical wounds. the increasing use of these drugs warrants a better understanding of their effects on wound healing. the aim of this study was to develop an experimental model that would allow for a reliable and rapid assessment of drug effects on cutaneous wound healing. methods: thirty syngeneic lewis rats underwent surgical incision on their dorsal region, in the presence or absence of a three-week regimen of immunosuppressant drug therapy (i.e., cyclosporin, azathioprine, and prednisone). surgical site tissue was collected at intervals over 21 days after surgery and analyzed for cell number and collagen fiber content. both of these quantitative assessments were performed using digital image capture with the image pro plus 4.5 software. results: computerized histomorphometric analyses revealed an apparent inhibition of cellular responses and collagen fiber production in drug-treated animals compared to control animals. conclusion: the experimental model was reproducible, easy to perform, and allowed for quantitative histological evaluations. it may be useful for the study of surgical healing in the presence of other drug classes.

Abstract: currently, the sirgas (geocentric reference system for the americas) is performed by a permanent gnss network called sirgas- con, where there are about 240 permanent stations in operation, distributed in south, central americas and caribbean region. the sirgas analysis centers were established in order to systematically determine the sirgas-con station coordinates, following the standards established internationally in order to support the maintenance of the system and the activities of the sirgas working group gt-i (reference system). since august 2008 the coordination of geodesy of the brazilian institute of geography and statistics - ibge officially took over the activities of an analysis center. this is a kind of daily work to which bigher and bigher dedication is given as the number of stations in the south american continent has been increasing rapidly in the recent years. other results are coming out; the station coordinates time series, thus enabling the determination of the station displacements due to the movement of the earth crust, local movements such as subsidence and / or local crustal uplift caused by natural phenomena such as earthquakes, as well as seasonal effects caused by several factors. at the same time, ibge also carried out the weekly combination of solutions from nine weekly sirgas analysis centers. this combination aims at comparing to the results to those obtained by dgfi (deutsches forschungsinstitut geod?tisches), which provides the final weekly solution from sirgas-con network. due to result accuracy, the change of any information in the processing can lead to certain changes in the coordinates and hence discontinuities in the time series of each station. recently, on april 17, 2011 (gps week 1632), the orbits (rapid and final fast), the corrections of the satellite clocks and model calibration of antennas provided by the international gnss service - igs, started to be referred to the new igs realization, named igs08. since then, there

Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S2179-83972007000400008
Abstract: background: clinical trials addressing the safety and efficacy of drug-eluting stents (des) for the treatment of patients with st-segment elevation myocardial infarction (stemi) showed lower rates of target vessel revascularization (tvr) compared to bare stents. however, these trials have excluded high risk patients and complex lesion subsets. furthermore, the long-term follow-up of these patients is unknown. objectives: to analyze the cumulative rates of major adverse events and stent thrombosis at long-term follow-up after unrestricted use of des in patients with stemi. methods: from 01/2004 to 12/2006, 104 consecutive patients underwent percutaneous coronary intervention for stemi with des implantation and comprised the present study population. we analyzed the cumulative rates of adverse events: death, reinfarction, the target vessel revascularization (tvr) and the rates of stent thrombosis at a mean clinical follow-up of 20.9 ± 10.5 months. results: a total of 104 patients were included in this study. the mean age was 63 ± 12 years, 82% were male and 23% diabetic. killip iii or iv were diagnosed at presentation in 17% of patients. the mean time of dual anti-platelet therapy was 13.29 ± 9.26 months. the cumulative incidence of major adverse events was 11.5%. the incidence of tvr was 2.9%. definitive stent thrombosis occurred in 1.9% of patients. by multivariate analysis, the only independent predictor of major adverse events was killip class iii or iv at presentation (or: 9.4 ci 95% [2.16-40.81]; p=0.003). conclusion: in this registry composed by "real world" patients, the unrestricted use of des for the treatment of stemi was safe and effective at long term follow-up.
