A pesca demersal de profundidade e os bancos de corais azooxantelados do sul do Brasil
Kitahara, Marcelo Visentini;
Biota Neotropica , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1676-06032009000200003
Abstract: demersal fishing of important commercial fishes (lophius gastrophisus, urophisys brasiliensis and genipterus brasiliensis) and crustaceans (chaceon ramosae and chaceon sp.) along the upper slope off southern brazil has increased dramatically in the last decade. compilation of available data on the distribution of azooxanthellate corals between 24° and 35° s, compared with the distribution of bottom-longline, bottom-gillnets, trawl and trap fisheries shows that commercial fishing takes place over coral areas, providing evidence deep-sea reefs are important reservoirs of deep marine biodiversity. since the initial phase of exploitation by demersal fisheries, onboard observers are describing large captures of corals as "bycatch" suggesting deep-sea communities are being destroyed even before being studied. in order to ensure protection of deep-sea coral ecosystems and economic sustainability of demersal fisheries in southern brazilian waters, adoption of excluded fishing areas in those locations where azooxanthellate scleractinia occur is strongly recommended.
New records of azooxanthellate corals (Anthozoa, Scleractinia) from the southern Brazilian continental shelf and slope
Marcelo Visentini Kitahara
Biotemas , 2006,
Abstract: This study presents the records of Madrepora oculata Linnaeus, 1758, Solenosmilia variabilis Duncan, 1873, and Trochocyathus laboreli Cairns, 2000, for the southern Brazilian continental shelf and slope, and the extension of the occurrence of Lophelia pertusa (Linnaeus, 1758). All specimens were collected in Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul states (125-822 m deep). These species had only been recorded previously on the southeastern, northeastern and northern coasts of Brazil, and L. pertusa had only recently been recorded around Paraná state. Description, distribution and illustration are given. A short discussion on the ecological importance of the colonial species is provided.
Utiliza??o de registros de corais de profundidade (Cnidaria, Scleractinia) para prever a localiza??o e mapear tipos de substratos na plataforma e talude continental do sul do Brasil
Kitahara, Marcelo Visentini;Horn Filho, Norberto Olmiro;Abreu, José Gustavo Natorf de;
Papéis Avulsos de Zoologia (S?o Paulo) , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0031-10492008000200001
Abstract: large portions of the brazilian continental shelf and continental slope do not have detailed maps about the sedimentological mosaics, manly due to the high costs of specific oceanographic deep-water cruises. using all records (totalizing 169 stations) of deep-sea scleractinia azooxanthellate corals from southern brazil between 24° and 35°s, and separating them in three different groups, the present study intends to add to the actual knowledge of the superficial sedimentology off southern brazil, demonstrating that the records of this cnidarians can be used as tools for mapping hard, soft, and biodetrictic deep-sea substrate.
A novíssima China e o Sistema Internacional
Visentini, Paulo G. Fagundes;
Revista de Sociologia e Política , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-44782011000400009
Abstract: china has arrived on the periphery of development, bringing with it a wide political and economic agenda. this marks a new phase in china's international projection and in the world system itself. what are the goals of this new new china in terms of international politics? there are many who claim that china entertains ambitions of world dominance, seeking to move into the position the united states has held in terms of planetary leadership. in a manifestation of what comes close to resembling sino-phobia (a new version of the "yellow threat"), there are those who argue that chinese development seeks to concentrate world wealth, breaking up the economies of other nations of the world. in advancing the hypothesis that peking has inaugurated a new stage in international politics, substituting the one in which the new china was struggling to regain sovereignty and development, we base our argument on the relationships that china has established with the african continent. the new new china, then, has begun to transform the world system itself. in this sense, we argue, china has sought to avoid hegemonies, whether that of the unitied states or its own. if this were not so, its fate could turn out to be similar to that of germany's, in the aftermath of two world wars. yet such strategies might not be feasible, since china must act today within the context of post-world war diplomatic fluidity and an aging contemporary capitalism whose historic centers are in rapid decline .
ANáLISE DA INFLUêNCIA DO COMPARTILHAMENTO DA INFORMA O E DA COMPLEXIDADE DA TAREFA NA DECIS O EM GRUPO
Monize Samara Visentini,Mauri Leodir L?bler
Invenio , 2010,

JISTEM - Journal of Information Systems and Technology Management , 2008, DOI: 10.4301/S1807-17752008000100003
Abstract: whit the increasing use of the information technology (it) by organizations, it becomes necessary to study the strategic alignment between the strategic plan of information technology (spit) and the strategic business plan (sbp), besides understanding the factors which explain the level of that alignment. thus, this work aims to verify the maturity level between these plans and to identify the critical success factors (csf) that favor their alignment. the analysis results of two companies in the southern region, one large and another small, had different levels of strategic alignment between spit and sbp. the first had an alignment of level 5, and the second, level 3. through the diagnosis of csf, we identified divergences as to the valorization of the business knowledge by the is manager; creativity of the is area in the strategic use of it; knowledge of the objectives and goals of the business by the is manager.
Brazil and the economic, political, and environmental multilateralism: the Lula years (2003-2010)
Visentini, Paulo G. Fagundes;Silva, André Luiz Reis da;
Revista Brasileira de Política Internacional , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-73292010000300004
Abstract: this article discusses brazil's multilateral policy under luiz inácio lula da silva's administration, highlighting economic, political and environmental themes. the main argument is that brazil's multilateral relations during this government reached a new significance with the reinforcement of international coalitions and the articulation with the country's new development model. the country has been using multilateral forums as a way to achieve international projection and support for its development project, highlighting bargaining aspects, variable geometry coalitions and the strengthening of south-south cooperation

Abstract: This paper investigates if the managerial work nature modifies the manager's perception regarding the adjustment of Information Technology (IT) to their task. The indicators of managerial work, as experience and frequency of IT use and manager decision-making roles, were based on studies of Vlahos and Ferrat (1998) and Vlahos, Ferratt and Knoepfle (2004) as well as the task technology fit, reasoned from the Task-Technology Fit model (TTF) (Goodhue, 1995). This paper contributes to understanding the IS as a support tool for the tasks that composed the manager's role in the organization. Through an exploratory study conducted with 238 managers, we observed that more increases the experience of the individual with the Information System (IS), greater the adjustment perceived for it, between the technology and the task running; and higher the user access the IS, greater the fit between the technology and their tasks. As for the decision-making roles, we identified the roles of manager/entrepreneur and conflict manager are those who envisage a better adaptation of technology to their work, getting through the IS support for the work to proceed more efficiently.

Abstract: With the increasing use of the Information Technology (IT) by organizations, it becomes necessary to study the strategic alignment between the Strategic Plan of Information Technology (SPIT) and the Strategic Business Plan (SBP), besides understanding the factors which explain the level of that alignment.
The Dimer Model for k-phase Organic Superconductors
G. Visentini,A. Painelli,A. Girlando,A. Fortunelli
Physics , 1997, DOI: 10.1209/epl/i1998-00273-1
Abstract: We prove that the upper electronic bands of k-phase BEDT-TTF salts are adequately modeled by an half-filled tight-binding lattice with one site per cell. The band parameters are derived from recent ab-initio calculations, getting a very simple but extremely accurate one-electron picture. This picture allows us to solve the BCS gap equation adopting a real-space pairing potential. Comparison of the calculated superconducting properties with the experimental data points to isotropic s_0-pairing. Residual many-body or phonon-mediated interactions offer a plausible explanation of the large variety of physical properties observed in k-phase BEDT-TTF salts.
