Electrical Instability in Pentacene Transistors with Mylar and PMMA/Mylar Gate Dielectrics Transferred by Lamination Process  [PDF]

Abstract: This study deals with electrical instability under bias stress in pentacene-based transistors with gate dielectrics deposited by a lamination process. Mylar film is laminated onto a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate, on which aluminum (Al) gate is deposited, followed by evaporation of organic semiconductor and gold (Au) source/drain contacts in bottom gate top contact configuration (Device 1). In order to compare the influence of the semiconductor/dielectric interface, a second organic transistor (Device 2) which is different from the Device 1 by the deposition of an intermediate layer of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) onto the laminated Mylar dielectric and before evaporating pentacene layer is fabricated. The critical device parameters such as threshold voltage (VT), subthreshold slope (S), mobility (μ), onset voltage (Von) and Ion/Ioff ratio have been studied. The results showed that the recorded hysteresis depend on the pentacene morphology. Moreover, after bias stress application, the electrical parameters are highly modified for both devices according to the regimes in which the transistors are operating. In ON state regime, Device 1 showed a pronounced threshold voltage shift associated to charge trapping, while keeping the μ, Ioff current and S minimally affected. Regardless of whether Device 2 exhibited better electrical performances and stability in ON state, we observed a bias stress-induced increase of depletion current and subthreshold slope in subthreshold region, a sign of defect creation. Both devices showed onset voltage shift in opposite direction.

Abstract: Nowadays in laboratories and in industries, distribution of solar cells sizes could be very large, hence; for the first time it is rather difficult to compare photovoltaic parameters which are size dependent (current, serial resistance, shunt resistance...) and performances of these cells. Also, it will be useful for scale effect to extrapolate performances calculated on a unit size solar cell to commercial products, especially in the case of heterogeneous wafers used for the device.
Fabrication and Characterization of PZN-4.5PT Inorganic Perovskites Nanoparticles Thin Films Deposited on P-Type Silicon Substrate  [PDF]

Abstract: This work involves an investigation of nanostructures, microelectronic properties and domain engineering of nanoparticles thin layers of Pb(Zn1/ 3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3 (PZN-PT) ferroelectric single crystals deposited on nanostructured silicon substrate. In this study, devices made from PZN-4.5PT nanoparticles thin films successfully deposited on silicon substrate have been studied and discussed. SEM images show the formation of local black circles and hexagonal shapes probably due to the nucleation of a new Si-gel component or phase induced by annealing. Micro Xray Fluorescence mapping shows that the high values of Si and B atoms (7 and 4 normalized unit respectively) can be explained by the fact that the substrate is p-type silicon. The most interesting result of optical measurements is the very good absorption for all the thin films in UV, Visible and NIR regions with values from 70% to 90% in UV, from 75% to 93% in Visible and NIR. Tauc plots present particularities (rarely encountered behavior) with different segments or absorption changes showing the presence of multiple band gaps coming from the heterogeneity of the thin films (nanowires, gel and nanoparticles). Their values are 1.9 and 2.8 eV for DKRN-Gel, 2.1 and 3.1 eV for DKRN-UD and 2.1 and 3.2 eV for DKRN-D) corresponding respectively to the band gap of nanowires and that of the gel while the last ones correspond to the undoped and doped nanoparticles (3.1 and 3.2 eV respectively).

Abstract: In this contribution, we report on the effect of solvents with different boiling points and annealing temperature on the performance of TIPS-pentacene transistors. Several solvents have been used for TIPS-pentacene thin film processing: toluene, chlorobenzene and tetrahy-drofuran. To study the influence of solvent and temperature; the electrical parameters of TIPS-pentacene field effect transistor were measured. The highest values of mobilities were 7.1 × 10-3 cm2·V-1·s-1, 4.5 × 10-3?cm2·V-1·s-1 and 1.43 × 10-3 cm2·V-1·s-1 respectively for TIPS-pentacene field effect transistor using chlorobenzene, toluene and tetrahydrofuran and annealed respectively at 120°C, 150°C and 120°C. We have correlated these electrical performances with AFM images in order to point out the role of morphological properties. It is found that the grain size, and roughness highly affect the electrical parameters.

Abstract: Mycobacterium tuberculosis es un patógeno humano altamente exitoso que puede persistir y sobrevivir en el huésped a pesar de la generación de una fuerte respuesta inmune por parte del mismo. Estudios en animales y humanos han demostrado la gran variedad de componentes del sistema inmune involucrados en una respuesta inmune efectiva contra M. tuberculosis. Estos componentes incluyen a las células T, citoquinas (incluyendo IFN-g, IL-12, TNF-a, IL-6), y células presentadoras de antígenos (macrófagos y células dendríticas). Asimismo, se demostró que varias proteínas de se alización (moléculas coestimulatorias, factores de transcripción), también poseen un rol clave en la regulación de la activación T contra el patógeno, y constituyen blancos terapéuticos prometedores para la modulación de la respuesta inmune del huésped. Las funciones de estos componentes (células, citoquinas, proteínas de se alización) están aún siendo definidas, pero se estima que las mismas podrían variar durante la infección aguda y la crónica. Por lo mencionado, es esencial lograr una mejor comprensión de la interacción entre este patógeno y el sistema inmune del huésped, a fin de contribuir al dise o de nuevas vacunas efectivas

Nel saggio si esaminano i primi anni del suo direttorato alla Galleria, i rapporti con Antonio Canova, il suo ruolo all’interno dell’entourage di Elisa Baciocchi Bonaparte, oltre a considerare alcuni spunti legati al rinnovamento degli Uffizi, nonché la delicata vicenda del passaggio in città di Dominique-Vivant Denon, direttore del Louvre. L’obbiettivo è quello di introdurre elementi di approfondimento relativamente a una figura molto nota ma poco studiata.

Abstract: This essay approaches the definition of media ecology from two opposite perspectives. On one hand, it tests the homogeneity of the biomimetic continuum, which supposes the mediascape as an extension of the biological realm. On the other, it analyses the biodigital continuum, which takes, for instance, digital code as a universal grammar for genetic code. The problematic relation between biological and technological paradigms and between linguistics and genetics is clarified with reference to Erwin Schr dinger’s concept of negative entropy. Four different regimes of entropic density are then suggested to describe the physical, biological, technological, and cognitive domains. On the basis of this ‘energetic geology’, a new ecology of machines is proposed.
Deligne-Mostow lattices with three fold symmetry and cone metrics on the sphere

Abstract: Deligne and Mostow constructed a class of lattices in PU(2,1) using monodromy of hypergeometric functions. Later, Thurston reinterpreted them in terms of cone metrics on the sphere. In this spirit we construct a fundamental domain for almost all Deligne-Mostow lattices with three fold symmetry. This is a generalisation of the works of Parker and Boadi and gives a different interpretation of the fundamental domain constructed by Deraux, Falbel and Paupert for some of these lattices.
Cutting sequences in Veech surfaces

Abstract: A cutting sequence is a symbolic coding of a linear trajectory on a translation surface corresponding to the sequence of sides hit in a polygonal representation of the surface. We characterize cutting sequences in a regular hexagon with opposite sides identified by translations exploiting the same procedure used by Smillie and Ulcigrai for the regular octagon. In the case of the square, cutting sequences are the well known Sturmian sequences. We remark the differences between the procedure used in the case of the square and the one used in the cases of the regular hexagon and regular octagon. We also show how to adapt the latter to work also in the case of the square, giving a new characterization for this case. We also show how to create a dictionary to pass from the symbolic coding with respect to the hexagon to the symbolic coding with respect to the parallelogram representing it in the space of flat tori. Finally we consider the Bouw-M\"oller surfaces $\mathscr M(3,4)$ and $\mathscr M(4,3)$ and we use their semi-regular polygons representations to prove our main result, which is a theorem analogous to the central step used to characterize cutting sequences in the previous cases.
L’integrazione tra DbT e catasto: un nuovo strato informativo per la gestione del territorio tramite GIS

Abstract: L’ampliamento dei tematismi del DbT attraverso l’acquisizione dei dati catastali e l’armonizzazione tra i due strumenti cartografici costituisce un importante passo verso la realizzazione di SIT di tipo gestionale: i nuovi contenuti informativi acquisiti al DbT vanno però strutturati in base agli usi che sono destinati a supportare. La gestione dei diritti edificatori derivanti da perequazione urbanistica ne costituisce un esempio. Widening the range of contents forming the Topographical Database through the integration with the Land Registry geometries and data is an important step toward the realization of a management GIS: new information acquired by the Topographical Database need to be structured depending on the applications they are going to support. Administration through GIS technology of development right trade, arising from urban equalization mechanisms, constitutesa good example for the automation of processes and procedures related to the territory.
