Abstract: the knowledge of the genetic diversity through the divergence among the genotypes allows the organization of the germplasm, sampling and efficient utilization in breeding programs. the objective of this study was to analyze the dissimilarity among germplasm collected in santa catarina state, stored in udesc germplasm active bank of common bean, and of three cultivars ('pérola', 'scs 202-guará' e 'brs valente'), using rapd markers. 21 decamer-primers that allowed the visualization of 96 bands were used, and 41 (42.7%) presented polymorphism among the studied accesses, resulting in a band range of 650 to 2000pb. the dissimilarity was calculated using the sorensen-dice coefficient and the grouping analyses were derived from upgma. the accesses were separated in two main groups, with wide dissimilarity when compared with the divergence inside each group. these two groups indicate the possible center of domestication, middle-american or andean, of the accesses in this study. the dissimilarity among the cultivars evaluated ('scs 202-guará', 'brs valente' e 'pérola') was small (0.15), if compared with the divergence among the accesses of the germplasm bank (0.65). the smaller dissimilarity among the studied accesses (baf63 and baf04) was 0.02. the results reinforce the need of new collection expeditions, which will increase the representation of the genetic variability of the remaining bean landraces in santa catarina state.

Crop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology , 2011,
Abstract: The goal of this work was to determine the combining ability of three white oat parental genotypes (UPF 18, URS21and URS 22) and to estimate the heterosis of F1 hybrids in two conditions, with and without water stress. The results indicate a largeeffect of the environment on the evaluated characters (cycle, leaf area, plant stature, grain yield per plant, main panicle weight andnumber of grains of the main panicle). The condition without stress was the most efficient for the selection of superior genotypes.Based on the general and specific combining ability, the cultivar URS 22 was shown to be indicated for cycle and stature reduction, while UPF 18 lead to increases in leaf area, main panicle weight and number of grains of the main panicle. The specific cross URS22 x URS 21 was the best for the selection of superior genotypes.

Abstract: The objectives of this study was to evaluate the Rhizobium inoculation effect on the grain yield characters in common bean cultivars, to quantify the possible relationship between these characters, and verify the genetic similarity among cultivars to suggest possible combinations to be adopted in crosses by breeding programs. It was evaluated six commercial common bean cultivars (IAPAR 81, Carioca, SCS-202 Guará, BRS Valente, FTS Soberano e IPR Uirapuru), with and without inoculation of Rhizobium bacteria. The experimental design was randomized block design with four replications, in factorial arrangement (6x2), with six cultivars and two inoculation levels. Each plot had six rows with three meters in length and 0.50 meters between rows, with 4 m2 plot. The yield components traits in common bean, under the conditions of this study, do not show to be influenced by Rhizobium’s inoculation. The number of grains per pod has a relation with the definition of yield per area in commercial common bean cultivars, while the numbers of pods and grains per plant showed strong positive correlation with grain yield per plant. The SCS-202 Guará, FTS Soberano e IPR Uirapuru cultivars show high grain yield, characterizing potential parents to be adopted in bean breeding programs.
Critical language awareness in foreign language learning

Literatura y lingüística , 2005, DOI: 10.4067/S0716-58112005000100012
Abstract: this paper provides a panoramic description of the ways in which the so-called critical language awareness (cla), can contribute to the teaching and learning of english as a global language, which increasingly involves a wide range of visual, verbal, and digitally-delivered media and modes of communication. the overview presented begins with the concept of language awareness, and goes into more depth with respect to that of critical language awareness, establishing a parallel with paulo freire′s conception based on the notions of social justice, identity, power and inequality. finally, the history of the teaching of foreign languages in chile is presented, and a broader sense of the concept of discourse is outlined, that of multimedia discourse

Abstract: the objective of this paper is to focus the role accorded to tradition as a component of a social-historical dynamics schemed among different groups in salvador, but whose effect defined a way of modernization connected with the crossing of group identities, immaterial and architectural patrimonies, the transit of images and the informational capitalism. such way of modernization defined a touristic experience marked by the uses, by the city and in the city, that are made of space, of memory and of cultural expressions, resources that are decisive and, at the same time, they revolve a land of social-symbolic contradictions that feed the symbolic economy.
Economia e cultura no circuito das festas populares brasileiras

Abstract: the purpose of this article is to highlight some aspects that now characterize the convergence of the culture and the economy of symbols and spaces from the setting of a circuit of large festivals crossing different brazilian regions. it is observed how the pattern of this circuit of events creates a broader portrait of the establishment of the service and urban-industrial social structure, within which leisure and entertainment interfere with the level of values and expressions, with effects on the resignification of the realms of memory. on the other hand, it is also considered how those symbolic changes are fundamental to the very dynamics of the business of entertainment goods, in the sense that they articulate affection, endearment and life styles with the schemes of capital rentability.

The overview presented begins with the concept of Language Awareness, and goes into more depth with respect to that of Critical Language Awareness, establishing a parallel with Paulo Freire′s conception based on the notions of social justice, identity, power and inequality.
