Abstract: this research aims to characterize continuing education (ce) practices offered to the staff involved in nursing activities at sterilized material centers of hospitals located in the micro-region of s?o jose dos campos, brazil. a descriptive research with quantitative analysis was carried out through structured interviews, with nurses, nursing technicians and auxiliaries, sterilization assistants and nursing students. it was found that 31.2% of the interviewees (one nurse and nineteen employees) took part in ce; 65.4% of the employees were not motivated to participate. the ce is theoretic-practical and optional, with direct supervision; employees are evaluated through performance observation and analysis, without any other formal instruments. we also observed the need for an actual ce service of ce with structured programs.
Trigger factors of stress in the centre of sterilized material
Mara Cristina Bicudo de Souza
Revista de Enfermagem UFPE On Line , 2009,
Abstract: Objective: to identify the generative factors of stress in a Central of Sterilized Material, from perspective of staffworking in the sector. Methods: there was a descriptive research, using a quantitative analysis with nurses,technicians, auxiliaries and nurse attendants, with the data collection instrument to structured interview. Results:the generative factors of stress are related to the physical-functional environment unity: inherent factors to theenvironment, physical-ergonomic factors and administrative factors. Conclusion: the technical procedures were notmentioned, what it makes to believe that the employees feel capable and prepared to the execution of activities inthe technical area. It was observed the necessity of much attention by the hospital administrators and supervisorsto the unity, ie regeneration and adoption of technologies to minimize the constraints that the environmentprovides.

Concerning to stress, there are risks to the employees in work requirements, 57,17%; decisive authority, 60,87%; employment conditions, 82,61%; tasks discrimination, 17,39%; and leadership support, 13,04% only. Conclusion: the conditions and the decisive authority predominate in respect to stress risk, what permits to suggest improvement in work environment, in order to promote quality of life.
Regionalismo, modernidade e legitimidades intelectuais: Moysés Vellinho e érico Veríssimo (1930 a 1964)
Rodrigues, Mara Cristina de Matos;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702010000400009
Abstract: the article compares the roles that literary critic moysés vellinho and author érico veríssimo played in affirming intellectual legitimacy in a period when the brazilian cultural context was marked by the notion of 'province-nation,' focusing on 1930 to 1964. these two figures were chosen because they were protagonists on both the regional and national cultural stages during this time. the meaning of their texts is examined against the backdrop of the social space that produced them: a society that was witnessing both the institutionalization of the university and the start of specialization within the humanities, as well as the expansion of the literature market and the re-interpretation of rio grande do sul regionalism.

Moreschi, Elaine Cristina Pinto;Almeida-Muradian, Ligia Bicudo de;
Revista Brasileira de Ciências Farmacêuticas , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-93322007000200011
Abstract: the analysis of pantothenic acid in foods is routinely performed by microbiological methods, which are very tedious and take too long time of well-trained and experienced analyst. the high performance liquid chromatography (hplc) is an alternative technique for vitamin analysis in foods. in this paper infant formulae were analyzed by hplc and microbiological methods and the average results obtained were compared statistically. the difference between the two methods showed no statistical difference.
Recursos de ênfase utilizados por indivíduos com e sem treinamento de voz e fala
Borrego, Maria Cristina de Menezes;Behlau, Mara;
Revista da Sociedade Brasileira de Fonoaudiologia , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-80342012000200019
Abstract: purpose: to investigate how individuals with and without voice training use emphatic accent in two previously selected words during a reading. methods:seventy seven individuals with ages between 19 and 57 years were distributed into two groups: 51 students from a radio training course - tg (trained group); and 26 subjects with no voice and speech training - untg (untrained group). individuals read a radio report twice, emphasizing two different words in each reading: "negotiates" and "reforms". the readings were recorded with an interval of two months between them, which corresponded to the beginning and end of the radio training course attended by the tg. voice samples were submitted to: auditory-perceptual analysis of the occurrence, evaluation and use of emphasis; visual analysis of the spectrographic trace for delimitation of the pauses; acoustic analysis of the duration and fundamental frequency of the emphases. results were submitted to statistical analysis. results: the tg had higher grades than the untg regarding the quality of emphasis use, and there was no difference in its occurrence and use. the word "reforms" had higher occurrence of emphasis and was better evaluated than the word "negotiates". the tg used less pauses than the untg. acoustic analysis showed that the word "reforms" was longer than "negotiates" in the untg. the mean fundamental frequency was higher for "negotiates". conclusion: both groups demonstrated that the use of emphasis accompanies the individuality of speakers. the tg had better ability in the distribution of pauses. the words were distinctly emphasized due to syntactic and semantic aspects.

Genetics and Molecular Biology , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-47572006000300013
Abstract: species of the subtribe oedionychina not only have a highly uniform diploid number of 2n = 22 (20+x+y) but have the karyotypic peculiarity of possessing extremely large sex chromosomes. we analyzed paranaita opima embryos and gonadal cells to determine their diploid number, chromosomal morphology, type of sex determination system, constitutive heterochromatin pattern and which chromosomes bear nucleolus organizer regions (nors). the diploid number of p. opima was 2n = 22 (20+xy/xx) with all chromosomes being metacentric. chromosome pair 6 showed an interstitial secondary constriction on the short arm. the c-banding technique revealed centromeric constitutive heterochromatin in all chromosomes, which, in pair 6, extended up to the secondary constriction of the short arm, additional c-bands also being present on the y chromosome. silver nitrate nucleolar organizer region (ag-nor) staining showed nors on the secondary constriction of pair 6. fluorochrome analysis with chromomycin a3 (cma3), 4'-6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (dapi) and the distamycin a (da) counterstain showed that the short arm of chromosome pair 6 exhibited a gc-rich block extending from the proximal to the median region, including part of the secondary constriction. the same techniques also showed at-rich blocks at the centromeric region of all chromosomes and at the terminal region of the short arm of pair 6. the basic karyotype characteristics and c band pattern of p. opima are similar to those described for other species in the subtribe oedionychina. the pattern of autosomal nors observed in p. opima corresponds to that registered in the majority of the chrysomelidae species.
