A racionalidade da encarna o
Vasconcellos, Manoel
Teocomunica??o , 2009,
In his Cur Deus Homo Anselm of Aosta (1033-1109) deals with a basic question of Christian faith: the incarnation of the second Person. How could God assume the human condition and die crucified for mankind? Anselm wants to show the rationality of the incarnation and that such rationality may be understood also by no Christians. The Autor wants to show how Anselm develops his argument, namely God only can be thought as “aliquid quo nihil maius cogitari potest” (Proslogion 101, 5). By means of his incarnation and redemption God has achieved a work of Love in favour of man. It isn’t a mere one more gesture of Love, but a supreme demonstration of Love; on account of its singularity it only may be understood as a Love not possible to be thought greater.
O problema do mal: a interpreta o de S o Boaventura = The problem of evil: the interpretation of Saint Bonaventure
Vasconcellos, Manoel
Veritas , 2012,
On taking Breviloquium as a guide, we can understand how St. Bonaventure analyses the issue of evil and its relation to sin. Man was created to be good and to live in a good world. By sinning, he interferes with the divine plan, establishing evil in the world. God, the first and most perfect principle, however, is perfect; then, He comes to man’s help so that he can overcome sin and evil. Upon reflecting on Philosophy and Theology, Bonaventure discusses the issue of evil origin, transmission and breakthrough, pointing to man’s unique and affirmative role, as he has not lost his natural attraction to virtue; he is still able to do right.
Local and regional richness and rarity of leaf-litter ants: An overview from spacial scale in neotropical region  [PDF]
Manoel Fernando Demétrio, Rogério Silvestre
Open Journal of Animal Sciences (OJAS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojas.2013.32A002
Abstract: An unusual approach about richness and rarity of leaf-litter ant species is presented here from a dry forest reminiscent in Pantanal province (Chacoan subregion) suggesting the boundaries that defining local and regional scales for this particular ant community. We analysed the frequency of distribution of 170 ant species collected on 262 Winkler’s samples along Serra da Bodoquena National Park, Mato Grosso do Sul state, Brazil and described some ecological mechanisms that made the species richness estimates be highly influenced by species with low frequencies of records in an extent regional of a pristine dry forest. Bayesian inference was conducted to provide if the probability of latitudinal gradient was correlated with the species richness to define alpha diversity.

Use of Pristis spp. (Elasmobranchii: Pristidae) by Hunter-Gatherers on the Coast of S?o Paulo, Brazil
Gonzalez, Manoel M. B.;
Neotropical Ichthyology , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1679-62252005000300010
Abstract: artifacts made from rays (rostral teeth and spine) are very common in shell mounds on the coast of s?o paulo, brazil. the presence of the genus pristis among the studied species of elasmobranch fishes in this shell mounds reinforces the hypothesis these animals occurred in southeastern brazil, and were used by hunter-gatherers. i analyzed twelve rostral teeth of the genus pristis from shell mounds. the teeth have artificial marks left from making arrows and harpoons. the basic function of the teeth found in these shell mounds was the production of tools and ornaments. from the analyzed teeth, ten (83%) were associated to the faunal remain and two (17%) were associated with burials, and they can be considered as ceremonial or votive elements. there had been no new records of occurrence of the genus pristis on the coast of s?o paulo state in brazil, and there are a few studies on the use of their products in many ancient and contemporary human communities. this paper provide data about the distribution of rays of this genus in archaeological sites and the use of this resource by hunter-gatherers on the coast of s?o paulo.
Educa??o de adultos presos
Portugues, Manoel Rodrigues;
Educa??o e Pesquisa , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-97022001000200011
Abstract: this article presents a reflection about the possibilities and contradictions of the insertion of school education in the rehabilitation programs of the state of s?o paulo penal system. prisons, their norms, procedures and values adhere to the absolute primacy of domination and control of the incar- cerated mass. it follows that the maintenance of internal order and discipline are transfigured into the penal organization?s primary purpose. the programs and activities regarded as "re-educative" fit into this working logic, guiding their actions and objectives by the need to subjugate the punished persons, adjusting them to the social system of prison. the inmate?s resistance to control is, however, patent. education does not, by any means, remain neutral in this process (struggle) of subjugation and resistance. its methodological assumptions and its daily practices can contribute to establish school as the succeeding resource in the preservation and development of persons, in the interstices of the domination process. the article tries to outline some possibilities of education so that the prerogatives of penal management do not shatter educative practices, prescribing its actions. in doing that, it seeks to indicate an alternative so that incarcerated persons, even under the hostile conditions they face, have the later opportunity to produce culture and knowledge, showing paths to a human development that allows them to designate the world present and future, in a continuous act of creation and re-creation, signification and re-signification.
Editor de revistas científicas: relato de um interminável aprendizado
Berlinck, Manoel Tosta;
Psicologia USP , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65642011005000016
Abstract: this article presents a narrative about the interminable learning process to be an editor of scientific journals. it seeks to give a name to a complex and long activity, transforming it in an experience, i. e., in knowledge. it concludes that, in the near future, ethical problems will take the major part of the editorial work and proposes that it would be good if editors could prepare themselves for this great debate.
