Vapor Phase Ammoxidation of 4-Phenyl-o-Xylene into 4-Phenylphthalonitrile on V–Sb–Bi–Zr/γ-Al2O3 Oxide Catalyst  [PDF]

Abstract: Literature data dedicated to formation of 4-phenylphthalonitrile were analyzed and generalized. As a result of the own studies, it has been established that on V–Sb–Bi–Zr/γ-Al2O3-oxide catalyst ammoxidation gives 83.10 mol.% 4-phenylphthalonitrile at high conversion of the initial 4-phenyl-o-xylene in a single process. In connection with increased demand to purity of 4-phe-nylphthalonitrile at using and division problem of hard-separable impurity of crystal 4-phe-nylphthalimide, a variant of the technological process design with average conversion and recirculation of the unreacted 4-phenyl-o-xylene and intermediate 4-phenyl-o-tolunitrile was proposed. In contrast to the single process, it has been determined that recirculation reduces quantity of form by-products, fractions of deep oxidation and increases selectivity on 4-phenylphthalonitrile up to 96.14% - 97.72%. For the data analysis and visualization of results it is developed and offered the software package of OptimMe written in C#.

Abstract: On the basis of kinetic data of 4-phenyl-o-xylene and 4-phenyl-o-tolunitrile ammoxidation, formation mechanism of the products was analyzed and generalized. It has been shown that dissociative adsorption of a substrate and mononitrile occurs on the centers with high heats of adsorption of oxygen and as a consequence, completely covered with it, competitive adsorption of NH3 and O2 occurs on the centers with low heats of adsorption of the latter; mononitrile and dinitrile are formed correspondingly from adsorbed fragments of both substrate and NH3, and tolunitrile and NH3; surface interaction of adsorbed fragments of substrate and O2 with low heat of adsorption gives imide and CO2; hydrolysis of dinitrile into imide occurs on centers completely covered with ammonia; imide decarboxylation occurs on the centers covered with it; oxidative destruction of tolunitrile occurs on centers covered with substrate and mononitrile.
Spectrum of a Differential Operator with Periodic Generalized Potential

Abstract: We study some spectral problems for a second-order differential operator with periodic potential. Notice that the given potential is a sum of zero- and first-order generalized functions. It is shown that the spectrum of the investigated operator consists of infinite number of gaps whose length limit unlike the classic case tends to nonzero constant in some place and to infinity in other place.

Abstract:


Kinetic regularities of 4-phenyl-o-tolunitrile ammoxidation on V-Sb-Bi-Zr/γ-Al2O3 oxide catalyst in the temperature interval 633 - 673 K have been studied. It has been established that rates of conversion of 4-phenyl-o-tolu- nitrile into the aimed 4-phenylphthalonitrile and CO2 are described by half-order equation on concentration of substratum and to be independent of the oxygen and ammonia partial pressures. It has been revealed that formation of 4-phenylphthalimide from byproducts is due to hydrolysis of 4-phenylphthalonitrile; carbon dioxide is produced by oxidation of 4-phenyl-o-tolunitrile and decarboxylation of 4-phenylphthalimide, and 4-phenylben- zonitrile is produced from 4-phenyl-o-tolunitrile and 4-phenylphthalimide.

Special attention is paid to the tegument armament, the structure of glandular apparatus, excretory system, digestive system, the structure of the sensory apparatus and other larval morphological characters.

Dental caries experience of elderly people living in “Pondok” in Kelantan

Abstract: Limited information is available about the oral health of elderly people living in “Pondok” in Kelantan. This study aimed to assess the dentition status of elderly population staying in Islamic Religious Community Setup, “Pondok” in Kelantan. A cross sectional study involving 369 elderly people was carried out. A simple random sampling method was utilized for the selection of the subjects. Oral examination was done to assess the dentition status and data was analyzed using SPSS 11.5 version. The response rate was 95.6%. Majority of the subjects were edentulous (81.0%). The mean number of natural teeth, functional natural teeth, decayed teeth (D), missing teeth (M) and teeth indicated for extraction (X) were 3.22 (SD 7.54), 2.75 (SD 6.70), 0.06 (SD 0.48), 28.80 (SD 7.51) and 0.41 (SD 1.60) respectively. Among 70 dentate subjects, the mean number of natural teeth, functional natural teeth, occluding pair of functional natural teeth, decayed teeth (D), missing teeth (M), teeth indicated for extraction (X) and DMFX(T) index were 17.1 (SD 8.00), 14.5 (SD 8.11), 6.3 (SD 4.22), 0.3 (SD 1.06), 15.1 (SD 8.20), 2.2 (SD 3.14) and 17.6 (SD 8.08) respectively. There was no teeth had been filled (F). The proportion of subjects having minimum 20 functional natural teeth was 7.3%. The above results indicate that dental caries status of elderly people living in “Pondok” in Kelantan was unsatisfactory with high percentage of edentulism, contributing to the high value of the mean DMFX(T) index, 29.3 (SD 6.63).
Association between functional dentition with inadequate calorie intake and underweight in elderly people living in “Pondok” in Kelantan

Abstract: This study was to investigate the association between functional dentition with inadequate calorie intake and underweight in elderly people living in “Pondok” in Kelantan. A cross-sectional study participated by 369 elderly people was carried out. A simple random sampling method was utilized for the selection of the subjects. Subjects were interviewed using a structured form to collect information about subjects’ demographic background and self-reported health status. The 24-hour recall method was used to provide information on the subject’s exact food intake during the previous 24 hours. Body mass index was calculated from subjects’ weight and height, followed by oral assessment. The “Nutrical Software” was used for nutrient calculation, followed by SPSS version 11.5 for data analysis. The response rate was 95.6%. Majority of the respondents were female (92.4%). The percentage of subjects who had inadequate calorie intake and underweight was 71.0% and 25.7% respectively. The percentage of edentulism was 81.0%. The proportion of elderly with compromised functional dentition was 48.2% and majority was edentate elderly without wearing any complete dentures or wearing defective dentures, 23.6% and 56.2% respectively, while 20.2% was dentate elderly. The odds of having inadequate calorie intake and getting underweight among elderly with a compromised functional dentition was 3.7 times and 42.0 times respectively, compared to elderly with a non-compromised functional dentition. There was a significant association between inadequate calorie intake and underweight with functional dentition among elderly living in “Pondok” in Kelantan.

Abstract: Phase Transformation Studies of Fe-C System with Differential Thermal Analyzer: Phase transformation studies for ironcarbon (Fe-C) system have been done by means of Differential Thermal Analyzer, DTA. Fe-C samples of nominal compositions for respectively low carbon containing alloy (0.1 wt.%), hypo eutectoid (0.4 wt.%), and eutectoid (0.8 wt.%) were prepared by powder metallurgy process using pure Fe and C powder materials (>99 %) as the feed stock. Measurement by DTA in the temperature range 25 oC–1100 oC for the samples indicated that there are two endothermic temperatures transition in pure Fe sample respectively at 773.8 oC associated with phase transformation of ferromagnetic (α) to paramagnetic (β) and at 930oC due to a phase transformation of β-ferrite to austenite (γ). The two transition temperature was also consistently observed in all Fe-C samples but with one additional temperature transition at about 753 oC associated with a phase transformation of pearlite to austenite. Data of heat change measurement in the temperature range 25 oC-1100 oC were subsequently used for determination of heat capacity, Cp for the Fe-C samples as the function of T. Cp (T) curves when fi tted by polynomial regression have resulted in regression coeffi cients between 0.8 and 1.0.
