Mapping of neurokinin-like immunoreactivity in the human brainstem
Rafael Cove?as, Francisco Martin, Magdalena Belda, Victor Smith, Pablo Salinas, Eva Rivada, Zaida Diaz-Cabiale, Jose Narvaez, Pilar Marcos, Gerard Tramu, Salvador Gonzalez-Baron
BMC Neuroscience , 2003, DOI: 10.1186/1471-2202-4-3
Abstract: Clusters of immunoreactive cell bodies and high densities of neurokinin-immunoreactive fibers were located in the periaqueductal gray, the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus and in the reticular formation of the medulla, pons and mesencephalon. Moreover, immunoreactive cell bodies were found in the inferior colliculus, the raphe obscurus, the nucleus prepositus hypoglossi, and in the midline of the anterior medulla oblongata. In general, immunoreactive fibers containing neurokinin were observed throughout the whole brainstem. In addition to the nuclei mentioned above, the highest densities of such immunoreactive fibers were located in the spinal trigeminal nucleus, the lateral reticular nucleus, the nucleus of the solitary tract, the superior colliculus, the substantia nigra, the nucleus ambiguus, the gracile nucleus, the cuneate nucleus, the motor hypoglossal nucleus, the medial and superior vestibular nuclei, the nucleus prepositus hypoglossi and the interpeduncular nucleus. The widespread distribution of immunoreactive structures containing neurokinin in the human brainstem indicates that neurokinin might be involved in several physiological mechanisms, acting as a neurotransmitter and/or neuromodulator. The mammalian tachykinin peptides include neurokinin A (NKA), neurokinin B (NKB) and substance P (SP) [1]. It is known that these three neuropeptides have a common C-terminal amino acid sequence and that NKA and SP are derived from the preprotachykinin A gene, whereas NKB is derived from the preprotachykinin B gene. It is also known that the biological actions of NKA, NKB and SP are mediated by three receptors, named neurokinin (NK)-1, NK-2 and NK-3 [2]. Thus, the tachykinins have been implicated in several physiological actions such as salivation, the regulation of smooth muscle contraction, depolarization of central neurons, hyperactivity, interaction with dopaminergic A-10 neurons mediating behavioral activation, regulation of blood pressure, and the transmission
The Relationship Between Chloride Cells and Salinity Adaptation in the Euryhaline Teleost, Lebistes reticulatus
Belda Erkmen,Durdane Kolankaya
Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances , 2012,
Abstract: The present study elucidates, the relationship between chloride cells and salinity adaptation in the guppy, Lebistes reticulatus. Guppies were exposed to different salinities (2, 5, 8 and 11%) for 2 weeks to adapt them to salt water with the density of chloride cells was examined by light microscopy. The chloride cells of the gills were selectively stained by the fixator of Champy s modified by Maillet. The chloride cell density increased significantly in fish adapted to 8 and 11% salt concentration, which suggests that the densities of branchial chloride cells increased with environmental salinity.
Francisco Rolfsen Belda
Revista Comunica??o Midiática , 2010,
Abstract: This paper proposes a model of educative content structuring for interactive digital television programs. Its intent was to provide references for collaborative production processes and content organization in learning networks associated with university and educative television broadcasting services. The model defines terms, actors, events, environments, as well as content categories, classes and attributes, indicating criteria for their synchronic or asynchronic association in a dynamic television schedule. The model is presented in both descriptive and visual formats, with the use of conceptual maps. The results indicate that interactive use of digital television in education requires systematic content models covering communitarian participation in both media production and distribution processes, in order to enhance learning instruments beyond vertical, hierarchical and centralized communication sustained by traditional broadcast channels.
Palabras clave: Argentina, peronismo, Menem, Renovación, elecciones, 1988 ___________________________ ABSTRACT: 1989 marked the arrival to the Argentinian presidency of the PJ Carlos Menem and the beginning of a surprising twist, considering the history of his party, towards neoliberal policies. As a preliminary step, however, Menem had to overcome in a primary election, in which he was disadvantaged compared to the favorite Antonio Cafiero, Governor of Province of Buenos Aires and leader of the so called “Peronist Renovation”. Menem's stunning victory in 1988 has been commonly explained as the result of society's reaction to the political class, in the context of crisis of the country, or as a result of the limits and shortcomings of the Cafiero’s political line. Without ignoring these approaches, in this paper we approach the problem from an internal perspective and also the one of Menem himself, describing his work of accumulation and restructuration of the more orthodox sectors of the party, excluded by the progress of the “Renovation”. The study of these internal elections is good to explore the continuities and ruptures of the Argentina which open itself to a new cycle in 1989. Keywords: Argentina, Peronism, Menem, Renovation, elections, 1988
Rico Belda, Paz
|| The aim of this paper is to identify the explanatory factors of job satisfaction of employees in Spain, with special emphasis on gender and nationality differences. For doing that, an ordered multiple answer model will be estimated, using data from the Living Standards Quality in the Job corresponding to years 2006 to 2010. The results show that, after controlling by personal and employment characteristics of employees, there is a positive differential in job satisfaction level in favor of women. However, there is none of evidence that there is a nationality difference in job satisfaction. More- over, the job stability, employees involvement in their companies, a good business climate and conciliation between career and familiar life affect positively to job satisfaction, but the mismatch in training and in working hours influence negatively to satisfaction of employees.

Main Changes Experienced by Husbands Involved in the Caring for their Wives with Multiple Sclerosis in Finland, Austria and Spain
Ma Carmen Pérez Belda
Culture and Society : Journal of Social Research , 2010,
Abstract: This paper examines husbands’ experiences with wives in the long-term care of the Multiple Sclerosis disease in Finland, Austria and Spain. Avoiding generalizations, this study focuses on the main changes after the diagnosis in all levels – personal, economic and professional – because to understand and reach equality in the care work it is necessary to open debate about men’s practices in this area. In this research, three couples in each country in the regions of Lapland (Finland), Vorarlberg (Austria) and Alicante (Spain) were interviewed. To analyze the findings, a gender perspective is used with a particular attention to the influence of the contextual factors in each case. Comparing Finland with Austria and Spain, big differences emerged related to the economic changes. Changes in the social and sexual life were common in most cases.

Luciano Pighinelli, Magdalena Kucharska
Journal of Biomaterials and Nanobiotechnology (JBNB) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jbnb.2014.52015
Abstract:

The skeletal system in the human body is very important, provides support and gives shape to the body and provides a network between all soft tissues. The most common problems in hard tissues are bone fractures, defects or diseases which needed to be treated. The developments in artificial bone area seem to solve most of the hard tissue problems, on the other hand artificial bones themselves may cause other problems and in many cases they do not have sufficient mechanical properties and/or good biocompatibility. The importance of chitosan and its derivatives like microcrystalline chitosan has grown significantly over the last two decades due to its renewable and biodegradable source, and also because of the increase in the knowledge of its functionality in the technological and biomedical applications. The excellent biocompability, biofunctionality, and non-antigenic property make the chitosan and its derivatives as a microcrystalline chitosan an ideal material for tissue regeneration. To improve the suitability of chitosan for bone tissue engineering, the composites of MCCh and hydroxyapatite were studied. In the present work the characterization of the MCCh and composites with HAp in form of films and sponges, is based on physico-chemical tests, morphology, structure, particle size of HAp powder and distribution in the polymer matrix. The compositions with film and sponge shape are derived from the junction of two different materials, containing organic and inorganic substances. All sponge preparations, with HAp/MCCh have a well-shaped 3-dimensional structure, which could be used as implants in orthopedic surgery for a scaffolds base for medical applications.
