Abstract:
In most studies related to wind energy, the quantity of the air density is consid-ered constant, but actually, we know that it is variable and depending on others natural factors. We present a new procedure to estimate the wind density power energy by simulating the components of the air density. The procedure uses the copula theory and demonstrates that the estimated power energy is higher if the air density is not constant.

Abstract: Introduction: Circumcision (from Latin “circumcidere” meaning to cut around) is one of the most ancient and common surgical procedures?worldwide. Every male who undergoes this procedure has to experience severe pain and vulnerable to serious complications including, but not limited to, infection, hemorrhage, accidental injury, ethical concerns, as well as death. Methods: A retrospective review of the factual, therapeutic, and rational aspects of circumcision from its believed conception to the present. Conclusion: Though the origins of this procedure are still sketchy, it is an age-old belief that, dating to the early civilizations, circumcision could be synonymous as a penance in context to humanity’s sexual awakening.
On Constructing Approximate Convex Hull  [PDF]

Abstract:

The algorithms of convex hull have been extensively studied in literature, principally because of their wide range of applications in different areas. This article presents an efficient algorithm to construct approximate convex hull from a set of n points in the plane in O(n+k) time, where k is the approximation error control parameter. The proposed algorithm is suitable for applications preferred to reduce the computation time in exchange of accuracy level such as animation and interaction in computer graphics where rapid and real-time graphics rendering is indispensable.

Design of a CPW-Fed Band-Notched UWB Antenna Using a Feeder-Embedded Slotline Resonator

Abstract: A complete design method for a compact uniplanar ultra-wideband antenna with subband rejection capability is presented. A slotline resonator is incorporated in the coplanar waveguide feeder of the antenna to act as a bandstop filter, hence enabling the rejection of any undesired band within the passband of the antenna. Two samples of the proposed antenna were designed and manufactured. One of the developed antennas does not contain a resonator, whereas the other contains a slotline resonator. The designed antennas feature a compact size of 27 mm × 27 mm. Results of the simulation and measurement show that the designed antennas have a bandwidth from 3 GHz to more than 11 GHz. The results also reveal that the use of the resonator in the feeder of the antenna efficiently rejects any undesired subband, such as the 4.9–5.9 GHz band assigned for IEEE802.11a and HIPERLAN/2. The gain of the antennas with the resonator is about 2.2 dBi at the passband, while it is less than −8 dBi at the rejected subband.
Directive Antenna for Ultrawideband Medical Imaging Systems

Abstract: A compact and directive ultrawideband antenna is presented in this paper. The antenna is in the form of an antipodal tapered slot with resistive layers to improve its directivity and to reduce its backward radiation. The antenna operates over the frequency band from 3.1 GHz to more than 10.6 GHz. It features a directive radiation with a peak gain which is between 4 dBi and 11 dBi in the specified band. The time domain performance of the antenna shows negligible distortion. This makes it suitable for the imaging systems which require a very short pulse for transmission/reception. The effect of the multilayer human body on the performance of the antenna is also studied. The breast model is used for this purpose. It is shown that the antenna has more than 90% fidelity factor when it works in free space, whereas the fidelity factor decreases as the signal propagates inside the human body. However, even inside the human body, the fidelity factor is still larger than 70% revealing the possibility of using the proposed antenna in biomedical imaging systems.

Abstract: oxidation of the alloy having nominal composition ni-16cr-8.5co(wt.%) was studied in the presence of kcl and k2co3 at 1173 k in air. chemical composition of oxide scales and scale morphologies were determined by means of x-ray diffraction analysis and scanning electron microscopic studies. the oxide scales of kcl- and k2co3- coated alloys showed complex microstructures and compositions. this behaviour was ascribed to the release of volatile metallic chlorides, evolution of co/co2 gas as well as formation of fluxing products. the high temperature oxidation resistance is not only related to the nature of the passive film but is also strongly dependent on the salt environments and the structure of alloy.

Design of Dual-Band Microstrip Reflectarray Using Single Layer Multiresonance Double Cross Elements

Abstract: A multiresonance double cross element is used to design a dual-band reflectarray with dual linear polarization. The proposed element has a single conductive layer structure which makes it easy to manufacture. The results presented in this paper show that the mutual effect between the elements of the two bands is negligible. Hence, it is easy to achieve the phase compensation for each band separately. The simulated and measured results for an element designed to cover the X- and K-bands have confirmed the suitability of the proposed element to build a dual-band reflectarray.

Abstract: Pulmonary nocardiosis is an acute or suppurative chronic disease, caused by aerobic actinomycetes which usually originates from soil and compost. Since Nocardia species have been isolated from the soil of different regions of Iran, as well as different cases of nocardiosis, this study was undertaken to evaluate the role and frequency of Nocardia in pulmonary infections.The present investigation was planned to isolate Nocardia bacteria from immunocompromised patients who had been referred to Maseeh-e-Daneshvari University Hospital (Tehran). 142 patients with advanced symptomatic pulmonary disease were studied during a period of seven months. Of all the patients surveyed, 102 were tested both for their BAL (bronchoalveolar lavage) and sputum. For the rest of the patient’s sputum samples were not accessible. From each sample, three thin smears were prepared for microscopic observations. The samples were cultured in Sabouraud dextrose agar and paraffin agar. Medical history of patients were also recorded in the certain questionnaire for further data analysis. Nocardia asteroides was isolated from only a patient suffering from Cushing’s syndrome with bronchogenic carcinoma [Ectopic adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) syndrome]. Further in-vitro investigation for differentiation of the isolate was performed and confirmed that the organism that grew on primary media was Nocardia asteroides complex. Our results revealed that the normal concentration of NaOH (4%), which is routinely being used for identification of Mycobacteria species, could inhibit the growth of Nocardia. Therefore, decontamination procedure of the samples collected for isolation of Nocardia was preformed using 1% NaOH in this study.
