Considera??es sobre o papel da consciência morfológica nas dificuldades de leitura e escrita: uma revis?o da literatura
Mota, Márcia Elia da;
Psicologia Escolar e Educacional , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-85572008000200006
Abstract: the objective of this work was to revise the national and international scientific production indexed in the scielo and the periódico capes (web of science and psychinfo), between 1996 and 2006 on the relation between morphological awareness, reading and spelling difficulties. empirical studies had been selected that described the relationship between morphological awareness and literacy. it has been identified 16 articles (three national and 13 international ones) that were analyzed considering the following aspects: the causal relation between morphological awareness and literacy, and the role of morphological awareness in reading and spelling difficulties. an analysis of the articles and where they had been published, types of techniques of collection and analysis of data were made. the results point out to the lack of empirical studies that study this phenomenon in brazil. the theoretical and methodological implications of these studies for the educational context and for the evaluation of the reading difficulties are also discussed.
Explorando a rela??o entre consciência morfológica, processamento cognitivo e escrita
Mota, Márcia Maria Peruzzi Elia da;
Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-166X2012000100010
Abstract: studies carried out in alphabetic languages show that the ability to reflect upon morphemes, morphological awareness, is related to the success in recognizing words and comprehension in reading and spelling. portuguese is a language with a fairy normal orthography in terms of letter-sound correspondence rules. this study investigated whether morphological awareness helps with spelling in portuguese and whether this contribution is independent of other cognitive aspects of language such as vocabulary and memory. the sample was composed of children from the 2nd and 3rd grades. the pearson correlation results showed that morphological awareness is associated with spelling; when memory and vocabulary are controlled this relationship is significant.
O papel da consciência morfológica para a alfabetiza??o em leitura
Mota, Márcia Maria Peruzzi Elia da;
Psicologia em Estudo , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-73722009000100019
Abstract: among the metalinguistic abilities three seem to help children to learn to read and to write: phonological awareness, syntactic awareness and morphological awareness. of the three abilities, the least studied one is morphological awareness. however, this state of things is changing and a new body of knowledge has been formed about the role of morphological abilities in literacy. as this field of research advances, new theoretical and methodological questions are raised. based on recent published literature in this field, this article discusses some of these questions.
This paper presents the main tenets of two paradigms of investigation of human cognition _ the symbolic and the connectionist _ and discusses how research in each paradigm has fed studies in L2 learning. The symbolic paradigm explains the acquisition and use of knowledge through the existence of mental representations, logical rules, and symbols. The connectionist paradigm claims that human cognitive processing is related to how neurons are interconnected in the brain. The paper also examines how constructs such as types of knowledge, types of memory, input processing, and attention are presented in the two theories and how these constructs relate to current L2 research.
Projeto ético político do servi o social: limites e possibilidades = Project ethical political from social work: limits and possibilities
Mota, Alessivania Márcia Assun??o
Textos & Contextos (Porto Alegre) , 2011,
Perceived Home Literacy and Reading Performance among Adolescent Brazilian Students  [PDF]
Marco Aurélio da Silva Baltar, Márcia Maria Peruzzi Elia da Mota
Creative Education (CE) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2016.718263
Abstract: Although there has been a large amount of research on reading performance among Brazilian children, very little has been done on both home and school experiences and their influence on children’s literacy and language skills and research has focused on children rather than on adolescent samples. The main question we ask on this study is whether perceived early print experience by adolescents and reading enjoyment relates to students reading performance in present day. Thirty-one adolescents participated in this research. They were enrolled in middle school and were from less affluent areas of the State of Rio de Janeiro. They answered a questionnaire about their perceived home literacy experiences in early age, a reading enjoyment scale and three reading measure tests. The results of the correlations carried out in the data showed that teenagers with higher home literacy scores made fewer errors in reading single words.

Gindri, Gigiane;Keske-Soares, Márcia;Mota, Helena Bolli;
Pró-Fono Revista de Atualiza??o Científica , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-56872007000300010
Abstract: background: working memory, phonological awareness and spelling hypothesis. aim: to verify the relationship between working memory, phonological awareness and spelling hypothesis in pre-school children and first graders. method: participants of this study were 90 students, belonging to state schools, who presented typical linguistic development. forty students were preschoolers, with the average age of six and 50 students were first graders, with the average age of seven. participants were submitted to an evaluation of the working memory abilities based on the working memory model (baddeley, 2000), involving phonological loop. phonological loop was evaluated using the auditory sequential test, subtest 5 of illinois test of psycholinguistic abilities (itpa), brazilian version (bogossian & santos, 1977), and the meaningless words memory test (kessler, 1997). phonological awareness abilities were investigated using the phonological awareness: instrument of sequential assessment (confias - moojen et al., 2003), involving syllabic and phonemic awareness tasks. writing was characterized according to ferreiro & teberosky (1999). results: preschoolers presented the ability of repeating sequences of 4.80 digits and 4.30 syllables. regarding phonological awareness, the performance in the syllabic level was of 19.68 and in the phonemic level was of 8.58. most of the preschoolers demonstrated to have a pre-syllabic writing hypothesis. first graders repeated, in average, sequences of 5.06 digits and 4.56 syllables. these children presented a phonological awareness of 31.12 in the syllabic level and of 16.18 in the phonemic level, and demonstrated to have an alphabetic writing hypothesis. conclusion: the performance of working memory, phonological awareness and spelling level are inter-related, as well as being related to chronological age, development and scholarity.
Estratégias cognitivas de escrita do português do Brasil
Miranda, Luciene;Mota, Márcia Maria Peruzzi Elia da;
Psico-USF , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-82712011000200011
Abstract: studies about writing processing have focused in the role of phonological processing in writing. few studies investigate the later stages of this acquisition. this study was directed to second and third grade children. they had to answer an experimental writing task that was composed by words with different orthographic characteristics. the aim was to verify phonological and morphological processing in writing based on the qualitative analyses of children's spelling errors. most of the errors (more than 80%) were phonological in nature. in this age group morphological processing does not seem to be a dominant strategy in writing.

Revista Brasileira em Promo??o da Saúde , 2012,
Abstract: Objectives: To understand how students perceive the humanization of health, as well as the contributions of Project Y “clown doctors” in academic and hospital routine, identifying the relevance of this group through the construction of new paradigms. Methods: The study involved qualitative dimension, with the participation of medical students / interns in psychology and pediatric ward from a university hospital in Fortaleza - CE, Brazil. From March to July 2009, ten interviews were performed, recorded and fully transcribed and analyzed by interpretative network, comprising the categories: knowing the Project Y: different forms cognizable; role of Project Y in the hospital environment: the perception of this strategy in view of the spectators; humanization in health: the look of the future professional. The interpretive framework includes concepts related to health promotion activities, based in the humanization of care performed by graduate students in training. Results: Studentshave known Project Y from the observation of the activities performed in the infirmaries and to realize the smiles of children during the integration with the clowns. Reported that the visits, as well as diminishing the stress of children, caregivers and assist in the recovery of patients, also act in humane training of health professionals and contributes to the practice of multidisciplinarity. Conclusions: The respondents believe that Project Y can positivelyinfluence the training of health professionals, expanding interdisciplinary practice and providing complete pain relief of the patient. Thus, enhances communication of those who share the hospital environment and relieve human suffering.
