Plant density and nitrogen fertilization in Swiss chard
Echer, Márcia de M;Zoz, Tiago;Rossol, Charles Douglas;Steiner, Fábio;Castagnara, Deise D;Lana, Maria do C;
Horticultura Brasileira , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-05362012000400023
Abstract: an experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of plant spacing and nitrogen fertilization on swiss chard's yield, from september to november 2009. the experimental design was of randomized blocks in split plot with four replications. in the plots were allocated the two plant spacings (0.30 and 0.50 m) and in the subplots the five doses of nitrogen (0, 40, 80, 120 and 160 kg ha-1). the crop was harvested 90 days after transplanting. the plant spacing of 0.50 m provided increased production of total fresh weight of shoot (961.7 g plant-1) and marketable (873.1 g plant-1). however, the highest total yield (77.8 t ha-1) and marketable (64.5 t ha-1) was achieved with the smaller spacing between plants (0.30 m). the n rates applied in coverage until 160 kg ha-1 increased in a linear form the total and marketable production of fresh mass of shoots, the total and marketable yield, the n content and the n accumulation in the shoots of swiss chard plants on the evaluated plant spacings.
As ciências sociais entre biólogos e vacinas: agruras do estudo em um laboratório
Teixeira, Márcia de Oliveira;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702004000100009
Abstract: this note explores some aspects of conducting research at a laboratory for the research and technological development of new vaccines. the note synthesizes part of a chapter of my doctoral dissertation, entitled "diário de uma pesquisa" (diary of a research study). the idea of the diary is, in part, to show how the field research was conducted, and it underscores the personal experience of working in a laboratory, conversations and interviews with researchers and technical staff, and the process of learning about the work and the technology used. since my interest is the social studies of science and technology, i have based the study on a dense description of these laboratory spaces.
Casar ou n?o, eis a quest?o: os casais e as m?es solteiras escravas no litoral sul-fluminense, 1830-1881
Vasconcellos, Márcia Cristina de;
Estudos Afro-Asiáticos , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-546X2002000200004
Abstract: this article analyzes the nossa senhora do rosário de mambucaba in angra dos reis city parish registers of baptisms and marriages, in the 19th century, which were supported by post-mortem inventories made byslave owners. we have checked the predominant kinds of marriages, if endogamy by origin, africans to africans, creoles to creoles, or mixed marriages. at the same time it is possible to observe how the end of the external slave trade in 1850 and the economical and demographic transformations during the second half of the 19th century influenced on the slaves' attendance in the church to formalize their unions, and who were the single mothers.
A mobilidade humana na tríplice fronteira: Peru, Brasil e Col?mbia
Oliveira, Márcia Maria de;
Estudos Avan?ados , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40142006000200014
Abstract: the migratory mobility in the amazonian borders is less than enough investigated, neither by the academy nor by the institutions that deal with the migration question. there are new elements that depict peculiar characteristics to the human mobility in the triple border of peru, colombia and brazil, that deserve a deeper investigation from the view point of the migratory studies. at the moment, it has conside-rable flows of international migration in this region moving in the brazilian border, challenging the brazilian state to implement a migratory policy that is able to deal with the phenomena such as the presence of peruvians in an irregular situation in brazilian territory, the mobility of the indigenous peoples in the border regions and still, more recently, the increasing entrance of the colombians desplazados through the internal guerrilla who ask for shelter to the brazilian state.

Presen?a do Plasmodium brasilianum em macacos capturados na área de enchimento do reservatório da usina hidrelétrica de Tucuruí, Pará
Arruda, Mércia Eliane de;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1985, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761985000300015
Abstract: samples of blood taken from 2.046 primates relocated by the "curupira project" were examined for the presence of simian malaria parasites. this project aimed to rescuing the animals that lived within the forest that began to be flooded by the tucurui dam built in the tocantins river, amazon basin, brazil. malaria parasites similar or identical to plasmodium brasilianum were found in seven species or subspecies: alouatta belzebul belzebul, a. belzebul nigerrima, a. seniculus, chiropotes satanas, saimiri sciureaus, callicebus moloch and saguinus midas niger. this last species was never reported infected with malaria parasites before.
Análise do processo de trabalho em laboratórios de pesquisa em saúde: uma proposta de investiga??o
Teixeira, Márcia de Oliveira;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 1997, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X1997000400014
Abstract: this article presents a proposal for analyzing the work process involved in building technoscientific knowledge in the health field, focusing on the work developed by research laboratory technicians in the oswaldo cruz foundation. beginning with an in-depth description of the technicians' laboratory activities, we discuss the relationship between the various stages of work and the different actors, the technicians' value as actors in the process of building knowledge, and various actors' perceptions of how essential this work is. we attempt to outline the context in which the work processes in health sciences laboratories were incorporated into an analysis of the work process in health. by establishing a dialogue with the sociology of science, we present our proposal as an attempt to introduce new social sciences approaches for analyzing the work process, specifically as applicable to an analysis of work in the health field.
O trabalho e a pesquisa em saúde: notas sobre a invisibilidade do trabalho técnico
Teixeira,Márcia de Oliveira;
Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232004000300029
Abstract: in the past decades, the investigation of the different types of health work has become a central topic in the field of social research in health. in part, this increase is associated with the proposals for the reorganization of the health services, with the development of new professions and with the knowledge that there have been significant changes in the contents of health work. many suggest that there are correlations between these changes and the acceleration in the process of incorporation of new technologies in the health services, thus bringing social health research much closer to the scientific and technological fields of investigation in the area of health. to the detriment of this convergence, few studies have explored the possible interfaces between the dynamics of health work and that of technological research and development. in this sense, for the purpose of social analyses, technicians and researchers are usually not counted as health workers. starting from a diagnosis of the invisibility of technical work in health research laboratories, we have tried to investigate the technicians' activities and the processes leading to the attribution of their various duties. through the description of a female technician's work, we have gathered elements about the work organization in a laboratory, the internal qualification processes and the relationship with researchers.
Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD), dibenzofurans (PCDF) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB): main sources, environmental behaviour and risk to man and biota
Pereira, Márcia de Souza;
Química Nova , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-40422004000600018
Abstract: polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (pcdd) and dibenzofuranes (pcdf) and polychlorinated biphenyls (pcb) are types of persistent and bioaccumulating organic pollutants with enhanced chronic toxicity and carcinogenic properties and can be considered as environmental indicators of anthropogenic activities since their occurrence in the environment can always be linked to anthropogenic activities. the present paper reviews the main sources and behaviour of these compounds in the environment as well as the risks they represent to man and biota.
Software para a simula??o do comportamento de barras de a?o sujeita a esfor?os
Menezes, Márcia Veloso de;
Rem: Revista Escola de Minas , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0370-44672004000400012
Abstract: we observed that actually the dimension of steel bars submits to efforts action is done, most of time, using computer programs or a sequence of formulas without happening an understanding of the structure behaviour. the no understanding of this behaviour difficults the aplication of the formulary or of the softwares in new and less common problems. it will be introduced, in this work, a computer program that simulates the behavior of steel pieces submited to efforts. it will be showed, through animations, the behaviour of tensioned bars, compressed bars, beams, bars subject to combined tensions and mixed beams. we intend to introduce, also,a software that monitors the dimension of steel bars submited to efforts. the program has a data bank with the formulas and necessary tables. the calculist should bring this formulas to his work surroundings, that's the page in wich he is working, and later specify the values adopted for each one of his parameters. the program controls and points out the mistakes that has been done. the software allows the calculist to use the sequence of formulas that he wants and monitors the resolution of a big number of problems.
