Congenital Chylothorax: Rapid and Effective Response to Polyvidone Iodine  [PDF]

Abstract: Introduction: Congenital chylothorax, defined by the presence of chyle in the pleural cavity, is a rare congenital disorder of varying severity. The objective of this study was to report a case of idiopathic congenital chylothorax treated with povidone iodine effectively without side effects after failure of conservative treatment by chest drainage. Case presentation: A term female Newborn was admitted in the neonatal intensive care unit at 16 days of life, for respiratory distress. The Clinical examination objectified a Sliverman score of 3/10 with a pleural effusion syndrome. The chest radiography confirmed the pleural effusion and the analysis of the pleural fluid after aspiration confirmed the chylothorax, with a protein rate of 35 g/l, Triglycerids 37 mg/L, and Leukocytes count was 1140/ml with 90% lymphocytes. A chest drainage was performed on the seventh day but followed by the recurrence of the effusion. The use of 5 ml of 4% povidone iodine in the pleural space as a chemical pleurodesis was performed. The clinical and radiological evolution was favorable after 24 hours without relapse or side effects such as allergic reaction or worsening of the respiratory condition. Thoracic ultrasound was performed after 15 days, having objectified minimal right side effusion measuring 5 mm maximum thickness. Conclusion: Chemical pleurodesis by the polyvidone iodine in the chylothorax appears to be affordable and effective, and needs to be more considerate in the conservative treatment of congenital chylothorax.

Abstract: this work is a study of 2.5-difuryl-n-methylpyrrole (b1) compound on the corrosion of steel in hcl medium. the investigation was carried out using gravimetric and electrochemical polarisation measurements. the corrosion rate decreases continuously with concentration of the compound (b1) and the efficiency increases to reach 90 % at 10-3 m. polarisation results indicate that b1 is a cathodic inhibitor. b1 is adsorbed on metal surface according to the langmuir isotherm. value of free enthalpy of adsorption obtained involves chemisorption between inhibitor molecules and metal surface.
Arthroplastie totale du coude sur séquelles d’ostéoarthrite négligée - à propos d’un cas

Abstract: L’arthroplastie totale au cours des séquelles d’infection ostéo-articulaire a été destinée surtout pour la hanche et le genou. Cependant, peu de travaux ont étaient consacrée pour l’articulation du coude. Nous rapportons le cas d'une patiente, agée de 26 ans, ayant présentée dans l'enfance une ostéoarthrite du coude traitée traditionnellement, mais qui a développé progressivement une instabilité sévère du coude. Après l'implantation d'une prothèse semi-contrainte de Coonrad-Morrey non cimentée, le résultat est très satisfaisant jusqu’à deux ans de recul, avec un gain de la mobilité en flexion de 110 degrés et en extension de 5 degrés, l'index de performance pour le coude selon la Mayo Clinic de 80/100. Nous n'avons pas de complication à déplorer.

Arthropathie destructrice des épaules au cours d’une acromégalie

Abstract: L’acromégalie est une maladie endocrinienne rare, en rapport avec une hypersécrétion d’hormone de croissance. Elle a des conséquences rhumatologiques: l’arthropathie périphérique, l’atteinte rachidienne et les syndromes canalaires. L’atteinte articulaire accompagne une acromégalie active, sa survenue après un traitement radical et une rémission complète est rare. Nous présentons le cas d’une patiente de 70 ans ayant un antécédent d’acromégalie sur adénome hypophysaire il y a 25 ans, traitée chirurgicalement et déclarée en rémission complète, a développé une arthropathie destructrice des deux épaules. Le but de notre observation est de mettre le point sur la possibilité d’une atteinte articulaire au cours de l’acromégalie et de son retentissement fonctionnelle.
New Investigation on the SnS-Bi2S3 System

Abstract: The SnS-Bi2S3 phase diagram (a pseudo binary section of the Bi-Sn-S ternary system) has been constructed by using the X-ray powder diffraction and the thermal analyses (DTA and DSC). This diagram shows a non-stoichiometric phase over a not well-defined composition domain, with a peritectic reaction at 548°C and two narrower solid solution domains. It is established from the lattice parameter variation that the solid solution range based on the orthorhombic SnS extends till 8 mol% Bi2S3. The electronic local order around tin atoms has been characterized by means of 119Sn M ssbauer spectroscopy. The hyperfine parameters (isomer shift and quadrupole splitting) are typical of tin at the oxidation state II.

Abstract: Cadmium sulphide (CdS) thin films were deposited on glass substrates by the chemical bath deposition (CBD) method, using anhydrous cadmium chloride (CdCl2) and thiourea (CS(NH2)2) as sources of cadmium and sulphur ions respectively. The influence of bath temperature (Tb), deposition time (td) aSnd [S]/[Cd] ratio in the solution on the structural, morphological, chemical composition and optical properties of these films were investigated. XRD studies revealed that all the deposited films were polycrystalline with hexagonal structure and exhibited (002) preferential orientation. The films deposited under optimum conditions (Tb = 75?C, td = 60 min and [S]/[Cd] ratio = 2.5) were relatively well crystallized. These films showed large final thickness and their surface morphologies were composed of small grains with an approximate size of 20 to 30 nm and grains grouped together to form large clusters. EDAX analysis revealed that these films were nonstoichiometric with a slight sulphur deficiency. These films exhibited also a transmittance value about 80% in the visible and infra red range.
Arabic Language Text Classification Using Dependency Syntax-Based Feature Selection

Abstract: We study the performance of Arabic text classification combining various techniques: (a) tfidf vs. dependency syntax, for feature selection and weighting; (b) class association rules vs. support vector machines, for classification. The Arabic text is used in two forms: rootified and lightly stemmed. The results we obtain show that lightly stemmed text leads to better performance than rootified text; that class association rules are better suited for small feature sets obtained by dependency syntax constraints; and, finally, that support vector machines are better suited for large feature sets based on morphological feature selection criteria.
