Interface - Comunica??o, Saúde, Educa??o , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-32832011000100013
Abstract: this article aims to critically analyze the diagnosis of conduct disorder as a possible opportunity for the formulation of prevention strategies in the field of mental health. considered the most common psychiatric disorder in childhood and a constant concern for family and clinicians, conduct disorder has been understood by some researchers of the psychiatric field as an opportunity for preventive intervention. in order to understand the potential, fragility and the ethical implications of this proposal we analyze the main features, controversies and debates concerning its definition and the peculiarities regarding possible preventive actions. the age of onset of the disorder, the family's psychiatric history, an early diagnosis for preschool children and the differentiation between diagnostic categories applied to antisocial behavior are identified as controversial aspects of the disorder that bring important consequences for possible prevention proposals.
Da velhice à terceira idade: o percurso histórico das identidades atreladas ao processo de envelhecimento
Silva, Luna Rodrigues Freitas;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702008000100009
Abstract: this article discusses the historical emergence of notions of old age and third age as identity categories linked to the process of ageing. their emergence can be understood as a result of a complex combination of factors such as medical and social knowledge, management agents, political movements and economic interests. by taking old age and third age as historically determined age identities, we seek to trace out the formation of these identities the article analizes the factors that determined their emergence and how they have grown and gained legitimacy. as an age category, 'old age' has its roots mainly in medical knowledge specialized in the study of the aged body, and the appearance of retirement. the 'third age' age category derives mainly from the specialization of the agents of management for ageing, the advocatory discourse of social gerontology and the interests of the consumer culture. these are the categories that are currently available to identify, define and, more recently, transform the process of contemporary ageing.
Terceira idade: nova identidade, reinven??o da velhice ou experiência geracional?
Silva, Luna Rodrigues Freitas;
Physis: Revista de Saúde Coletiva , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-73312008000400011
Abstract: this paper deals with innovations on the ways and on the experience of aging set up in recent years. habits, images, beliefs and behaviors related to aging have changed determining the emergence of what is usually called the third age experience. but although it represents innovation and, in many ways, is described as a very positive reformulation of the possibilities of aging, the emergence of the third age also generates questioning and debate. in order to understand the status of this experience in contemporary society, we mapped the discussion on the third age in literature, more specifically on their nature of innovation in relation to the identity of old age. three hypothesis are highlighted in this analysis: the first suggests that third age can be seen as a new identity, autonomous and other than the identity of old age; the second, that its appearance can be understood as a denial of the social identity of old age; and finally, the third hypothesis assumes that the characteristics of the third age are the result of the generational experience of a particular social group. these main hypotheses about the third age are presented and discussed according to the possibilities of creation, diversification and innovation of subjective experience.
Autonomia, imperativo à atividade e "máscara da idade": prerrogativas do envelhecimento contemporaneo
Silva, Luna Rodrigues Freitas;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822009000100015
Abstract: this article aims to analyze the relationship between the third age identity and the normative standards for the construction of contemporary identities. to do so, we review some characteristics of the third age identity according to criteria that take part in the conceptions of identities in contemporary society: independence, self-responsibility, activity, flexibility and learning, and "absence of age." we finish identifying a double feature of the third age: on one hand, this identity represents an innovation and, as such, increases the possibilities of belonging for the subjects; on the other hand, it contributes to the promotion of models and ideals that are becoming dominant in contemporary society.

This research investigated the effects of the interdependence between political institutions and development models in the performance of environmental policies in Brazil. The central hypothesis of this work is that given the interdependence between the organizations responsible for environmental policies and development patterns somewhat responsive to environmental complexity, there is a dispersion of decision-making model for encouraging the development of high-carbon. In addition to literature review in Ecological Economics and Public Policy, were put into operation (1) an analysis of brazilian political-institutional design, and (2) the public expenditure framework of the Brazilian federal government with the environment. Two results were observed: first) the design and the powers of the institutions responsible for policy formulation and implementation of public policies interfere with the efficiency of environmental policies; second) the higher the institutional openness, the greater the tendency of decision-making paralysis in the formulation and implementation of environmental public policies.

Abstract: The word landscape is old and popular. It has many senses from territory to scenery. Geography uses this concept since Humboldt, which pointed out its spatiality and its physical and cultural characteristics. The geographical approach of landscape concept emphasizes relationships between natural and cultural processes in a spatial portion. Depending on physical or cultural/symbolic approaches, one of both processes will prevail. In ecological approach, the main characteristics to define landscape are spatiality, heterogeneity and relationship between elements, including men or not. Here we propose a unified landscape concept defining it as a heterogeneous space portion where relationship between natural and cultural processes occur.

Leila Karla Morais Rodrigues Freitas
Linguagens e Diálogos , 2010,
Abstract: In this paper we investigate the discourses about the Internetês, especially in virtual space, which status are of linguistic prejudice. Analyzing / describing the statements / speeches (re) produced in two communities in Orkut, we have seen the revival of secular discourse as linguistic purity and preservation of the language upon which are anchored to the social representations about the domain of speech / writing. Linked to norms / standard, elected by the masters of Grammar, the speeches that sustain this prejudice in the everyday social practices, called "real" now migrate to the cyberspace context. In the Internet, these speeches are transmuted and become part of the discursive practice of even immersed in this "new" world. The discussions are based on approaches theoretical and methodological derived from the Discourse Analysis of the French by Foucault (1998, 2005), Pêcheux (1999) and Orlandi (1999). We also use contributions given by Bagno (2003, 2007), Faraco (2007), Marcuschi (2004) and Possenti (2002, 2006) and others. Our analysis point for spreading of prejudiced discourses practices in Orkut, as co-extension of practices encouraged in non-digital space, though we could also see shyly flashes of discourses others in such practices.

Revista Educa??o Especial , 2012, DOI: 10.5902/1984686x6874
“Normality”: concept of how many faces?
Cláudia Rodrigues de Freitas
Revista Educa??o Especial , 2012,
Abstract: This paper is intended to analyze how the concept of “normality”, divided in normal and abnormal, has been taking shape in our time, based on Canguilhem’s and Foucault’s views. By analyzing the theory, I recognize evidence of a process of biologization of life which revisits itself and takes new shapes over the last years through the process of medicalization. Medicalization is the current controlling device and cannot be boiled down to prescribing medication, but we can also think of it as a gear, as a machine that transforms life into objects. As evidence of this analysis, a school situation intended to illustrate the concepts addressed is presented. The aforementioned situation was observed at the Municipal School System of Porto Alegre. Scholastic discourse generates different ways of acting and living in the school, but is it intended to do so?
