American Journal of Analytical Chemistry (AJAC) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ajac.2012.33035
Abstract: The chemical control of Rattus norvegicus in S?o Paulo city has been done using coumarins rodenticides as paraffin block and powder contact. The brodifacoum-paraffin block is placed in culverts and similar sites being subject to the action of the weather that can change the concentration of active ingredient. Whereas coumatetralyl-powder contact is applied on the entrance of the burrows, being subject to the action of the weather, that can help in the active ingredient degradation and its transference to other environments. There is not information on the environmental persistence of these active ingredients in their formulations after placing on the environment. So this research evaluated the persistence of brodifacoum-paraffin block and coumatetralyl-powder contact after two months under environmental conditions. One hundred blocks were put in culverts and weekly, during two months, three blocks were retreated and submitted to extraction and the extract analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography for quantification of active ingredient. The coumatetralyl-powder contact was applied in experimental systems simulating the field conditions. Soil and water samples were collected weekly, for two months, submitted to the extraction and the extracts analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography for quantification of active ingredient. The results pointed the stability of brodi-facoum-paraffin block under real application environmental conditions because 100% of active ingredient was recovered after exposition of the blocks. However, there was decreased about 80% in the concentration of coumatetralyl-powder contact on top soil during two months of environmental exposition, however there was not found it in water sample.

Mathematical Problems in Engineering , 2010, DOI: 10.1155/2010/231594
Abstract: This article focuses on the problem of parameter estimation of the uncoupled, linear, short-period aerodynamic derivatives of a “Twin Squirrel” helicopter in level flight and constant speed. A flight test campaign is described with respect to maneuver specification, flight test instrumentation, and experimental data collection used to estimate the aerodynamic derivatives. The identification problem is solved in the time domain using the output-error approach, with a combination of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Levenberg-Marquardt optimization algorithms. The advantages of this hybrid GA and gradient-search methodology in helicopter system identification are discussed.

Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Research and Animal Science , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-95961999000300007
Abstract: to identify the bacterial population in the milk of healthy mares and with subclinical mastitis, samples (10 to 15 ml) of 38 animals were collected, homogenized and examined using the whiteside test. the results were negative. the microbiological culture was carried out in 10% agar bovine serum and in agar macconkey. both exams revealed the presence of staphylococcus spp. and streptococcus spp., predominantly. the somatic cell counts (scc) was performed in individual samples of each teat and showed a number higher than 500,000 cels/ml of milk in only 9.3% of the 73 samples examined. these results obtained suggest that new researches should be done aiming the standardization of the somatic cell in equine milk.

Revista Brasileira de Fruticultura , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-29452005000300006
Abstract: the present study determined the impact of 1-mcp treatment on the quality maintenance of 'fuyu' persimmons, and how the postharvest exposure to ethylene could influence the 1-mcp effectiveness. the fruits were harvested at four different ripening stages according to skin color, after physiologic maturity. fruits were treated with 0.1 and 1.0 μl ·l-1 of 1-mcp one day after harvest, and then held at 23oc for up to 45 days in air with low (d" 0,1 μl ·l-1) or high (3 ± 2 μl ·l-1) ethylene . 1-mcp treatment delayed fruit softening and changes of skin color and the increase in the ethylene production, whereas it had no effect on soluble solids content and on titratable acidity. the postharvest life (period between harvest and pulp softening) of fruits was increased for up to 20 days in comparison to control fruits. persimmons harvested at advanced ripening stages had shorter postharvest life, regardless of 1-mcp treatment. the effectiveness of 1-mcp treatment was more pronounced in fruits harvested at early stages and for fruits exposed to 3 μl ·l-1 ethylene.

Argenta, Luiz Carlos;Vieira, Marcelo José;Scolaro, Andreia Maria Tomazini;
Revista Brasileira de Fruticultura , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-29452009000200006
Abstract: this study examined the effects of ethylene action inhibitor 1-mcp (1-methylcyclopropene),ma (modified atmosphere) and ethylene oxidant kmno4 (potassium permanganate) on the quality of 'fuyu'persimmon fruit after cold storage. the factors 1-mcp, ma and kmno were combined in four manners corresponding to the following treatments: t1) control + ma + kmno4, t24) 1-mcp + ma + kmno4, t3) 1-mcp + ma, and t4) 1-mcp + aa (aa= atmosphere of air). mature-firm fruit with predominant yellow colorwere harvested from seven commercial orchards in the northeast of rio grande do sul state. some of fruit were exposed to 0.3 μl l-1 of 1-mcp for 12 h in 24 h after the harvest. after that, fruit were stored in aa or ma induced by polyethylene bags (0.04 mm thick), by 20, 40, 60 or 80 days at -0.1±0.8oc. two pellets of 8.5 g alumina-kmno4 were added into the polyethylene bags of treatments one and two before they weresealed. fruit were analyzed after 0, 3, 6 or 9 days of shelf in aa at 22±1oc. 1-mcp treatment delayed fleshsoftening, but did not consistently affect the development of skin disorders (lined dark dots and blackspots) on fruit stored in ma containing kmno4. however, the incidence of skin disorders on 1-mcp treated fruit stored in ma was significantly less than that of 1-mcp treated fruit stored in aa. there were additiveeffects of 1-mcp and ma on the retention of firmness and on the reduction of chilling injury appeared bythe formation of firm gel texture of flesh and translucent stains on the skin. the use of kmno4 did not improve the retention of fruit quality when treated with 1-mcp and stored in ma. the development of skindisorders was orchard- and storage period-dependent. however, the benefits of 1-mcp and ma combinationon the reduction of these disorders and fruit softening were consistent in all orchards. the results indicatethat 1-mcp and ma combination is an effective tool to delay the deterioration of 'fuyu' persimmon fruitduring and after cold storage.

Abstract: Currently, mobility presents itself as a major innovation in historic technological revolution. From the first decade of this century, nothing compares to what happened in the field of Information Technology (IT), which is adding to market a range of news relating to infrastructure such as mobile computing hardware, software, computer networks, etc.. From a handheld as a wireless device, iPad, Smartphone, you can connect to the digital world, people, customers, business partners, etc.. Given the infinite range of information, services and resources available in the electronic world, it is considered that few are those, markets and people who want to be left behind. The interest in this channel of communication becomes not only a new strategy of marketing and communications. Mobile devices are becoming more sophisticated and allows access to the web. Thinking in this context is that manufacturers of electronic components face each other in a war over the disputed technology to a competitive environment that is open to those who put on the market the product more attractive, interactive and versatile.

Abstract: breast cancer is the principal cause of death from cancer in women. molecular studies of breast cancer, based in the identification of the molecular profiling techniques through cdna microarray, had allowed defining at least five distinct sub-group: luminal a, luminal b, her-2-overexpression, basal and " normal" type breast-like. the technique of tissue microarrays (tma), described for the first time in 1998, allows to study, in some samples of breast cancer, distinguished by differences in their gene expression patterns, which provide a distinctive molecular portrait for each tumor and the basis for and improved breast cancer molecular taxonomy. another important implication is that genetic profiling may lead to the identification of new target for therapy and better predictive markers are needed to guide difficult treatment decisions. additionally, the current pathology classification system is suboptimal, since patients with identical tumor types and stage of disease present different responses to therapy and different overall outcomes. basal breast tumor represents one of the most intriguing subtypes and is frequently associated with poor prognosis and absence of putative therapeutic targets. then, the purpose of this review was to resume the most recent knowledge about the breast carcinoma classification and characterization.

Revista Brasileira de Fruticultura , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-29452010000200008
Abstract: this research was carried out to study the effects of 1-mcp on postharvest quality preservation of kiwi 'bruno' storage under controlled atmosphere and air. fruits were harvested in april of 2003 and 2004. three days after harvesting, part of the fruits was treated with 1.0 μl.l-1 of 1-mcp, while the other part remained untreated (control), and then both lots were stored under air (aa) and ca with low ethylene. the treatment with 1-mcp delayed the increase in ethylene production rate and reduced respiration of the fruit after removal from cold storage. this was associated with a delay of loss in flesh firmness and a reduction of pericarp translucent and senescent. treatment with 1-mcp showed no significant effect on ss content. fruit stored under aa showed high metabolism, resulting in a low storage potential, evenwhentreated with 1-mcp. the greatest benefits on postharvest quality preservation of kiwifruit 'bruno' was achieved in fruit treated with 1-mcp and stored in ca with low ethylene.
