Increase and change in the doctoral dissertations on Latin America approved by Spanish universities during the decade of 2000 Analysis of the theses of SHS on Latin America approved by Spanish universities during the decade 2000-2009, compared to the previous period. The source used is the database REDIAL-TESIS, whose content is regularly updated by searching on other products, specialized in this type of documents (Teseo, Dialnet-tesis). The paper presents data on the number of theses per year, its subject distribution by disciplines and countries, the origin by universities and the availability of full text in repositories or open archives. The results show a remarkable growth in the number of doctoral dissertations, which in 2010 is already over the 450 documents per year. The subject distribution has also changed significantly, with a greater weight of the Social Sciences.
Vaccines in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer  [PDF]
Luis Corrales-Rodriguez, Normand Blais, Denis Soulières
World Journal of Vaccines (WJV) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/wjv.2013.31004
Abstract:

Immunotherapy as an option of treatment in cancer has experienced an important development with the inclusion of vaccines. In lung cancer this type of treatment has emerged and vaccines can be classified in three groups: antigen-specific vaccines, tumor cell vaccines, and dendritic cell vaccines. Emepepimut (L-BLP25) and MAGE-A3 have been the vaccines most widely studied. Their promising results with benefit in survival and limited toxicity in preclinical and clinical trials have led to phase III trials with results eagerly awaited. Other vaccines have been investigated, but results were not favorable or are still pending. Hopefully, vaccines could be an additional instrument for the treatment of lung cancer in the adjuvant or metastatic setting as time will unveil the results of current and future trials.

Boletín Científico. Centro de Museos. Museo de Historia Natural , 2009,
Abstract: we present a review of the pierella helvina subspecies of the neotropical region, with the aim of describing a new subspecies from the locality of amalfi (antioquia), located at 1600 m of altitude in the cordillera central of colombia, the latter being the record with the most altitude reported for a pierella species. by manual capture using an entomological net, the data of each collection locality for each subspecies based on the review of collections where there is restricted geographic distribution pattern that is correlated with the major centers of endemism proposed by brown (1982) and haffer (1987), which are of particular interest in biogeographical and evolution studies of the species.
Factores y mecanismos relacionados con la dormancia en tubérculos de papa. Una revisión
Rodriguez Luis Ernesto,Moreno patricia
A VLA Archive Observation of the Youngest Known Galactic Supernova Remnant G1.9+0.3
Yolanda Gomez,Luis F. Rodriguez
Physics , 2009,
Abstract: We present the analysis of an unpublished VLA archive observation made at 1.49 GHz in 1989 toward the supernova remnant G1.9+0.3, the youngest such Galactic object known. This observation agrees with the time evolution in angular size previously reported. We derive an expansion rate of 0.46 +- 0.11 % per year and an age of 220+45-70 yr for the remnant by comparing the 1985 and 1989 images.
Radio Proper Motions of Wolf-Rayet Stars
Sergio Dzib,Luis F. Rodriguez
Physics , 2009,
Abstract: We present the analysis of observations taken from the Very Large Array archive of six Wolf-Rayet stars with radio emission, with the purpose of determining their proper motions. Typically, these observations cover periods of 10 to 20 years. To verify the method, we included WR 140 in the sample, finding that the proper motions determined by us are a few times more accurate than and consistent within noise with those of Hipparcos. The other five WR stars were not studied by Hipparcos and we report their proper motions for the first time. The proper motions for WR 145a = Cyg X-3 are consistent with the source being stationary with respect to its local standard of rest and suggest that the black hole in this binary system formed by direct collapse of a massive star, without expulsion of a supernova remnant.
Expanded Very Large Array observations of the H66α and He66α recombination lines toward MWC 349A
Laurent Loinard,Luis F. Rodriguez
Physics , 2010, DOI: 10.1088/2041-8205/722/1/L100
Abstract: We have used the greatly enhanced spectral capabilities of the Expanded Very Large Array to observe both the 22.3 GHz continuum emission and the H66{\alpha} recombination line toward the well-studied Galactic emission-line star MWC 349A. The continuum flux density is found to be 411 $\pm$ 41 mJy in good agreement with previous determinations. The H66{\alpha} line peak intensity is about 25 mJy, and the average line-to-continuum flux ratio is about 5%, as expected for local thermodynamic equilibrium conditions. This shows that the H66{\alpha} recombination line is not strongly masing as had previously been suggested, although a moderate maser contribution could be present. The He66{\alpha} recombination line is also detected in our observations; the relative strengths of the two recombination lines yield an ionized helium to ionized hydrogen abundance ratio y+ = 0.12 $\pm$ 0.02. The ionized helium appears to share the kinematics of the thermally excited ionized hydrogen gas, so the two species are likely to be well mixed. The electron temperature of the ionized gas in MWC 349A deduced from our observations is 6,300 $\pm$ 600 K.
Ejection of a Low Mass Star in a Young Stellar System in Taurus
Laurent Loinard,Luis F. Rodriguez,Monica I. Rodriguez
Physics , 2003, DOI: 10.1086/375157
Abstract: We present the analysis of high angular resolution VLA radio observations, made at eleven epochs over the last 20 years, of the multiple system T Tauri. One of the sources (Sb) in the system has moved at moderate speed (5-10 km/s), on an apparently elliptical orbit during the first 15 years of observations, but after a close (< 2 AU) encounter with the source Sa, it appears to have accelerated westward to about 20 km/s in the last few years. Such a dramatic orbital change most probably indicates that Sb has just suffered an ejection - which would be the first such event ever detected. Whether Sb will ultimately stay on a highly elliptical bound orbit, or whether it will leave the system altogether will be known with about five more years of observations.
A Compact Radio Counterpart to the Energetic X-ray Pulsar Associated with the TeV Gamma-Ray Source J1813-178
Dzib, Sergio;Rodriguez, Luis F.;Loinard, Laurent;
Revista mexicana de astronomía y astrofísica , 2010,
Abstract: we report the detection of a time-variable, compact radio source coincident with cxou j181335.1-174957, the x-ray pulsar near the center of the young radio supernova remnant g12.82-0.02, which overlaps the compact tev source hess j1813-178. the compact radio source, named vla j181335.1-174957, was detected in 4.86 ghz vla observations made in 2006. new vla observations made in 2009 do not detect the source at a level 1.9±0.7 times (2.8σ) lower than that of 2006. we suggest that vla j181335.1-174957 may be related to one of the recently detected classes of variable radio pulsars but cannot reach a firmer conclusion.
