Williams-Beuren syndrome: Usual face, unusual heart  [PDF]
Natalia Marin Huarte, Luis García-Guereta, Pablo Lapunzina
Open Journal of Genetics (OJGen) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojgen.2013.31009
Abstract: Williams-Beuren Syndrome (WB-S) occurs in approximately 1/7500 live births. It is characterized by typical facial features, congenital heart defects and mild mental retardation. Around 75% - 80% of all patients have some kind of cardiovascular disorder being supravalvular aortic stenosis and pulmonary artery stenosis the most frequent. This syndrome is due to a contiguous gene deletion (1- to 2-megabase deletion on the long arm of chromosome 7), including the entire elastin gene and 20 additional genes. We present a case of a two year old boy with WB-S and Tetralogy of Fallot, a very infrequent association. Diagnosis of WB-S could be made because of typical facial features. Characteristic WB-S deletion was present. Genetic study to rule out 22q11 deletion was also performed.
General behaviour of Bianchi VI_0 solutions with an exponential-potential scalar field
Luis P. Chimento,Pablo Labraga
Physics , 1998, DOI: 10.1023/A:1018869226263
Abstract: The solutions to the Einstein-Klein-Gordon equations without a cosmological constant are investigated for an exponential potential in a Bianchi VI_0 metric. There exists a two-parameter family of solutions which have a power-law inflationary behaviour when the exponent of the potential, k, satisfies k^2<2. In addition, there exists a two-parameter family of singular solutions for all k^2 values. A simple anisotropic exact solution is found to be stable when 2
Asymptotic behaviour of Bianchi VI(o) solutions with an exponential potential scalar field
Luis P. Chimento,Pablo Labraga
Physics , 2012,
Abstract: We obtain some solutions to the Einstein-Klein-Gordon equations without a cosmological constant for an exponential potential scalar field in a Bianchi VI$_0$ metric and investigate their behaviour.
Cut and singular loci up to codimension 3
Pablo Angulo Ardoy,Luis Guijarro
Mathematics , 2008,
Abstract: We give a new and detailed description of the structure of cut loci, with direct applications to the singular sets of some Hamilton-Jacobi equations. These sets may be non-triangulable, but a local description at all points except for a set of Hausdorff dimension $n-2$ is well known. We go further in this direction by giving a clasification of all points up to a set of Hausdorff dimension $n-3$.
Balanced split sets and Hamilton-Jacobi equations
Pablo Angulo Ardoy,Luis Guijarro
Mathematics , 2008,
Abstract: We study the singular locus of solutions to Hamilton-Jacobi equations with a Hamiltonian independent of $u$. In a previous paper, we proved that the singular locus is what we call a balanced split locus. In this paper, we find and classify all balanced split sets, identifying the cases where the only balanced split locus is the singular locus, and the cases where this doesn't hold. This clarifies the relationship between viscosity solutions and the more classical approach of characteristics and shocks.
