Tauro, Laura;Marino, Betina;Diaz, Luis Adrian;Lucca, Eduardo;Gallozo, Debora;Spinsanti, Lorena;Contigiani, Marta;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02762012000400019
Abstract: st. louis encephalitis virus (slev) and west nile virus (wnv) present ecological and antigenic similarities and are responsible for serious human diseases. in addition, wnv is a significant pathogen in terms of equine health. the purpose of our study was to analyse the seroprevalence of slev and wnv in equine sera collected in santa fe province, argentina. the seroprevalence determined using the plaque reduction neutralisation test was 12.2% for slev, 16.2% for wnv and 48.6% for a combination of both viruses. these results provide evidence of the co-circulation of slev and wnv in equines in santa fe.
Constructing Hilbert modular forms whithout exceptional primes
Luis Dieulefait,Adrian Zenteno
Mathematics , 2014,
Abstract: In this paper we construct families of Hilbert modular newforms without exceptional primes. This is achieved by generalizing the notion of good-dihedral primes, introduced by Khare and Wintenberger in their proof of Serre's modularity conjecture, to totally real fields.
Bleomycin sensitivity in patients with familial and sporadic polyposis: a pilot study
Sales, Magaly M.;Lucca, Edmundo J. de;Yamashita, Seizo;Saad, Luis Henrique Cury;
Genetics and Molecular Biology , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-47571999000100004
Abstract: human peripheral blood lymphocytes from 10 patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (fap) showed a significantly higher incidence of chromatid breaks when compared to cells from 10 normal individuals, after exposure to bleomycin (blm) during the g2 phase. however, no significant increase in bleomycin sensitivity was observed in lymphocytes from 10 patients with sporadic adenomatous polyps (ap) vs. 10 normal individuals (p = 0.67). individuals that exhibited an average number of chromatid breaks per cell higher than 0.80 were considered sensitive to the drug. no control showed susceptibility to blm, as compared to 3 out of 20 patients.
Reproductive biology of Oligosarcus argenteus (Gunther, 1864) adult males and description of the gonadal maturation stages
Matt, Sérgio Luis Pinto da;Gomes, Marcos de Lucca Moreira;Andrade, Dálcio Ricardo de;
Brazilian Archives of Biology and Technology , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-89132009000100016
Abstract: oligosarcus argenteus belongs to the acestrorhynchinae subfamily, being restricted to south america, and found in several brazilian hydrographic basins, in lotic and lentic environments, where they are able to reproduce. with the purpose of studying the reproductive biology of the males from this species, many morphological parameters were analyzed during a 24 month period, as well as characterizing the different testicular maturation stages. a maturity scale, with three stages (i - initial maturing, ii - intermediate maturing, iii - final maturing) was proposed for the adult males of oligosarcus argenteus. the reproductive period was established by the bimonthly frequency of spermatogenesis and by the gonadal maturation stages.

Quantum efficiencies in finite disordered networks connected by many-body interactions
Adrian Ortega,Manan Vyas,Luis Benet
Physics , 2015, DOI: 10.1002/andp.201500140
Abstract: The quantum efficiency in the transfer of an initial excitation in disordered finite networks, modeled by the $k$-body embedded Gaussian ensembles of random matrices, is studied for bosons and fermions. The influence of the presence or absence of time-reversal symmetry and centrosymmetry/centrohermiticity are addressed. For bosons and fermions, the best efficiencies of the realizations of the ensemble are dramatically enhanced when centrosymmetry (centrohermiticity) is imposed. For few bosons distributed in two single-particle levels this permits perfect state transfer for almost all realizations when one-particle interactions are considered. For fermionic systems the enhancement is found to be maximal for cases when all but one single particle levels are occupied.
Identidad: aristas de análisis para la moderna ciencia política
Lucca,Juan;
Revista SAAP , 2012,
Abstract: the notion of identity occupies the center of an extensive debate within the social context and within the social sciences. in contrast, political science has not appealed to this notion as an analytical category, which is why this essay seeks to fill this gap. we explore, first, the different lines of this debate and, second, the diverse approaches on identities in the other disciplines, especially in its treatment of latin america, to assess, at the end, its usefulness for the purposes of carrying out any kind of study with a political perspective focusing on identities.
Walter Benjamin y Carl Schmitt: Palabras cruzadas de un diálogo mudo en un tiempo agitado
Lucca,Juan;
Revista de Filosofía , 2009,
Abstract: the present paper, seeks to oppose the written production of walter benjamin and carl schmitt, searching the links and breaks of theirs philosophical or political view, concerning to concepts like state of exception and sovereignty. we propose a reading -in chronological order- of his works between 1920 and 1930, like a mute dialogue, in which the starting point is common but the critiques and the distance among both of them become more evident and abysmal.
