Revista Brasileira de Fruticultura , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-29452006000100025
Abstract: citros crop in northeast brazil is concentrated on states of bahia and sergipe, with 106,385 hectares, established in the coastal tablelands agricultural ecosystem, where yellow latosol prevail, with cohesive horizons that become hard when dry. this problem retains the roots development along the soil profile, decreasing the soil volume explored and consequently the availability of water and nutrients. to solve this problem, breaking the cohesive layer and increasing the volume of roots in the soil, orange tree 'valência' grafted on lemon tree 'volkameriano' was planted in several hole depths (0.40; 0.60; 0.80; 1.00 and 1.20 m). the distribution of roots, evaluated in four different diameters, showed differences among the treatments. the best depths were 0.80 m, 1.00 m and 1.20 m.

Abstract: the citros crop in bahia and sergipe, represents about 103.000 hectares and is established in the coastal table land, where yellow latosol prevail, with cohesive horizons that become hardned when dry. this problem restrains the development of the roots along the profile of the soil, promoting the decrease of soil volume explored and consequently the availability of water and nutrients. to solve this problem, breaking the cohesive layer and increase the volume of soil roots it was used several depths of planting with holes of 0,40; 0,60; 0,80; 1,00 and 1,20 m, using orange tree 'valência' grafted on lemon tree 'volkameriano'. the best development of the roots was obtained with the 1,00 m and 1,20 m of depth. no significant statistical results was obtained for diameter of the cup and the stem, plant height and production of fruits among the treatments.

Abstract: a study was carried out in sapea?u, state of bahia, brazil, on a tableland toposequence cultivated with sweet orange 'hamlin', to determine the soil physical and hydraulic properties. the toposequence consisted of an argisolic yellow latosol, a yellow argisol, and a gray argisol. for each soil type, one soil profile was studied. soil samples were collected in each horizon with three replications. these soil samples were analyzed for texture, water clay dispersion, bulk density, particle density, organic carbon, total porosity, macroporosity, microporosity, aggregates analyses, and saturated hydraulic conductivity. the dense horizons of the argisolic yellow latosol and the yellow argisol showed the lowest meanweight diameter of aggregates and higher values of microporosity, which result in lower values of saturated hydraulic conductivity. the gray argisol presented higher values of macroporosity and saturated hydraulic conductivity.

O Argissolo Acinzentado apresentou maior macroporosidade e condutividade hidráulica saturada.

Abstract: The pre-competition mood is one of the main factors that can influence the performance of an athlete and changes in the athlete’s mood may be observed as training becomes more intense because elevated levels of tension, anger and depression increase the likelihood of mental and physical disorders. The hostile negative mood is a predisposing factor for many chronic-degenerative diseases. In this context, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the mood of athletes before artistic gymnastics. The participants were 90 athletes from gymnastics, male (n = 45) and female (n = 45), mean age 15.2 ± 5.23 years (coefficient of variation of 34.40%), assessed by Brunel Mood Scale, adapted by Profile of Mood States (POMS), designed to enable quick measurement of the mood state in adults and adolescents. A portion of the athletes interviewed did not achieve a desirable performance according to the iceberg profile. We observed that the athletes present characteristics of the iceberg profile in the investigated phase. However, of the total of 90 athletes, 64 (71.1%) were in the standard, and 26 athletes (28.9%) did not reach values considered ideal in the force factor, equal or higher than the 60th percentile. In this study, the artistic gymnastics athletes showed the mood profile that favors the performance and health and when analyzing the association between the subjective states of humor and age, we verified that the age did not influence the state of humor.
