Abstract: purpose: to evaluate the nuclear maturation stage and the presence of meiotic spindles of in vivo matured oocytes from infertile women undergoing stimulated cycles for intracytoplasmic sperm injection (icsi) and compare intracytoplasmic sperm injection outcomes between oocytes in telophase i (ti) and metaphase ii (mii), and the ones with and without visible meiotic spindle. methods: a prospective and controlled study with 106 infertile patients who underwent ovarian stimulation for intracytoplasmic sperm injection purposes. patients aged 38 years or less, with basal follicle stimulating hormone (fsh) less than 10 miu/ml and body mass index (bmi) less than 30 kg/m2. were included patients presenting any systemic diseases, any active infection, smokers or patients who had been using hormonal medications and hormonal and nonhormonal anti-inflammatory drugs for the past two months prior to the assisted reproduction procedure were excluded. the oocytes with the first polar body extruded (in vivo matured oocytes) were imaged by polarization microscopy immediately before intracytoplasmic sperm injection and characterized according to nuclear maturation stage (telophase i and metaphase ii) and to the presence of a meiotic spindle. we analyzed the fertilization rates, cleavage, number of good quality embryos on the second day (d2) from oocytes on telophase i versus those in metaphase ii, and metaphase ii visible spindle versus non-visible ones. data were analyzed comparatively by fisher's exact test. the level of significance was set at 5% in all analyses (p<0.05). results: the meiotic spindles of 516 oocytes were imaged using polarization microscopy. from the 516 oocytes analyzed, seventeen were in telophase i (3.3%) and 499 (96.7%) in metaphase ii. the oocytes injected in telophase i had significantly lower fertilization rates than those injected in metaphase ii (53 and 78%, respectively) and produced no good quality embryos on day 2. when the oocytes with and without a vi

Abstract: objectives: to examine the neural control of digestive tract and describe the main gastrointestinal disorders in cerebral palsy (cp), with attention to the importance of early diagnosis to an efficient interdisciplinary treatment. sources: systematic review of literature from 1997 to 2012 from medline, lilacs, scielo, and cochrane library databases. the study included 70 papers, such as relevant reviews, observational studies, controlled trials, and prevalence studies. qualitative studies were excluded. the keywords used were: cerebral palsy, dysphagia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, constipation, recurrent respiratory infections, and gastrostomy. summary of the findings: the appropriate control of the digestive system depends on the healthy functioning and integrity of the neural system. since cp patients have structural abnormalities of the central and peripheral nervous system, they are more likely to develop eating disorders. these range from neurological immaturity to interference in the mood and capacity of caregivers. the disease has, therefore, a multifactorial etiology. the most prevalent digestive tract disorders are dysphagia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and constipation, with consequent recurrent respiratory infections and deleterious impact on nutritional status. conclusions: patients with cp can have neurological abnormalities of digestive system control; therefore, digestive problems are common. the issues raised in the present study are essential for professionals within the interdisciplinary teams that treat patients with cp, concerning the importance of comprehensive anamnesis and clinical examination, such as detailed investigation of gastrointestinal disorders. early detection of these digestive problems may lead to more efficient rehabilitation measures in order to improve patients' quality of life.

Abstract: coriander (coriandrum sativum l.) is an arbustive vegetable utilized as spice in regional foods in north and northeast brazil. in the paraiba state it is cultivated by small farmers and the yield of the crop is low mainly due to not well balanced mineral nutrition fertilization. the work was conducted at the universidade federal da paraíba, in areia, brazil, from june to august 2002, to evaluate the effect of levels of p2o5 on the yield of coriander, cv. verd?o. the experimental design was randomized blocks with five treatments (0; 50; 100; 150 and 200 kg ha-1 of p2o5) and four replications. coriander plants were spaced 25 x 5 cm and sown in plots of 2,0 m2. the applications of 93 kg ha-1 and 112 kg ha-1 of p2o5 resulted, in maximum plant height (63 cm) and in the higher production of green mass (51 t ha-1), respectively. the level of 110 kg ha-1 of p2o5 was economically the most efficient and provided a green mass yield of 50,55 t ha-1 with an increase of 15,1 t ha-1.

Abstract: purpose: to evaluate the importance of spleen in malaric infection in murino model, comparing the parasitemia and the titles of imunoglobulins in the different groups. methods: it was used female mice non-isogenic, in inoculated with plasmodium berghei, cepa anka, intraperitoneally. the parasitemia was analyzed in 23rd, 25th, 27th and 32nd day of the experiment, being the stained blood' exam colored by giemsa. the titles of the total serum immunoglobulins igm and igg were analyzed by dot-elisa technique, at 6th, 22nd and 32nd day, when the animals were sacrificed. results: the parasitemia was gradual in all the inoculated groups. in the end of the experiment, the animals with partial parasitemia present superior parasitemia, but next to the non-splenectomized, while the asplenics present difference bigger than the double. the levels of total serum igm and igg didin′t have significant changes with the removal partial or total splenic. conclusion: the techniques conservatives in splenic trauma are possible and necessary. the importance of remaining spleen in the clearance of red blood cells parasitized by plasmodium berghei showed being efficient, in order to avoid serious complications resulting of the malaria in mice.

Abstract: the aim of this study was to assess early determinants of attention and hyperactivity problems in adolescents. in 1993, all hospital births in the city of pelotas, rio grande do sul state, brazil, were monitored and mothers were interviewed (n = 5,249). at 11 years of age, 4,423 mothers answered the strengths and difficulties questionnaire (sdq) in order to evaluate attention and hyperactivity problems in the adolescents. crude and adjusted prevalence ratios were calculated using poisson regression. prevalence of attention and hyperactivity problems was 19.9%. factors associated with the outcome in the adjusted analysis were: male gender, low family income, smoking during pregnancy, minor psychiatric disorders in the mother, and history of child's behavioral/emotional problems at four years of age. early life events impacted attention and hyperactivity problems in adolescence. risk factors for attention and hyperactivity problems found in this study were similar to those reported in other cultures.
Notas sobre a presen a de Mead na obra de Habermas Notes on Mead's presence in the work of Habermas
Luciana Aparecida de Araújo Penitente
Trans/Form/A??o , 2013,
Habermas discusses the question of individualization and socialization on the basis of the studies of George Herbert Mead, who, in Habermas' view, was the first to reflect substantially on a model of the socially produced "I". Mead offers a theoretical basis for the development of a theory of human evolution that involves the process of individualization and socialization. Through the paradigm of mutual understanding, that is, the intersubjective relationship of individuals who are socialized through communication and mutual recognition, Mead allows for a change in the paradigm of self-consciousness, from the self-reference of a subject who acts in isolation to the individual who processes social exchanges through the language. Therefore, one of the major components of Mead's theory in which Habermas seeks a contribution for his theory of communicative action, is the process of constitution of the "I," the subject's identity. Mead believes that individualization is represented as a process that is linguistically the mediator of socialization and of the construction of a life story in which subjects are aware

Rieg, Denise Luciana;Araújo Filho, Targino de;
Gest?o & Produ??o , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-530X2003000200003
Abstract: this article presents the work that was developed in a pro-deanship at ufscar in which the cognitive mapping was used (and it continues being) as a problem solving and structuring tool. in this sense, it presents a brief view of the structure and content of a cognitive map. it also presents some guidelines to make a map, trying to show that activity involves a careful purification process and code of the report of the problematic situation carried out by the individual whose thought is being mapped. the article continues telling us about the contribution of the cognitive mapping for the pro-dean to develop, employ and control strategies, in agreement with his own deposition. regarding the control process, the mechanisms used to transform the final map in a "real calendar", which could be used by the pro-dean along the end of its administration, are also presented.
