Abstract: in this paper we discuss how the practices and the scope of political action can be a mode of subjectivation for young people today. by means of the analysis of 19 interviews with brazilian youngsters of rio de janeiro, where their militancy in schools, colleges, and political parties was investigated, we could determine three central aspects which qualify the process of self construction through political activism: the facing of unknown outcomes, the relevance of action in the present, and the conflicts between public and private spheres, which demand totalizing the field of identifications.

Abstract: Neste artigo, discutimos os sentidos que a liberdade adquire nacultura contemporanea do consumo, em que se oportuniza avivência de escolhas renovadas frente à multiplicidade de objetos,bens e experiências. Discutimos que na articula o entre liberdadee consumo devemos ficar atentos aos modos como os indivíduosse apropriam das interpela es do mercado para exercerem suasescolhas de estilos de vida. O trabalho analisa as narrativas de jovenscariocas, em grupos de discuss o, em que a quest o do consumoaparece como central à constru o de suas subjetividades.Examinando essas narrativas, argumentamos que ainda que asinsígnias oferecidas pelos diferentes estilos de vida sejam essenciaisna determina o das escolhas juvenis, os jovens apontam asarmadilhas a que levam o consumo ilimitado e as inúmeras op esde escolha. O mundo de pura aparência e da experimenta oconstante promovido pelo consumo conduziria à submiss o dosujeito perante as exigências externas.

Abstract: Neste artigo discutimos como é que as práticas e o campo da ac o política podem ser um modo de subjectiva o para os jovens na actualidade. Por meio da análise de 19 entrevistas com jovens brasileiros do Rio de Janeiro, em que se investigou a sua militancia nas escolas, universidades e partidos políticos, determinámos três aspectos centrais que qualificam o processo de constru o de si pela via da política: o enfrentamento do desconhecido, a valoriza o da ac o no presente e a gest o dos conflitos entre o público e o privado, que exigem o trabalho de totaliza o do campo das identifica es. Constru??o de um instrumento para avalia??o de satisfa??o da aten??o básica nos centros municipais de saúde do Rio de Janeiro

Abstract: the aim of the present study was to construct a standard questionnaire to serve as a tool for evaluating the satisfaction of patients with the quality of the services delivered in a primary care unit (pcu) in the city of rio de janeiro. a health team elaborated 96 questions about access, pre- and post-consultation services and complementary activities. discussions with patients from other health units, non-users, professionals from other areas and specialists, resulted in a reduction of the questions to 43, one about the general satisfaction with the pcu, and 42 questions specific to each theme. these questions were applied to 100 patients e re-applied to 47 of them one week later. reliability was measured by cronbach's alpha and kr-20 and considered adequate for most of the responses. a specific questionnaire for evaluating patient satisfaction was constructed and validated and may be applied in other primary care units.

Abstract: the present work discusses the construction of 'otherness' understood as a permanent elaboration of the position of the subject facing the demands of contemporary subjetivation. the notion of difference is evoked in order to deal with the subjective movement, open and unstable, in the construction process of the other and of self. the contemporary city is brought here, through the discursive production of young people, in an intervention-research project, in which about 60 youth in the city of rio de janeiro, with ages between 11 and 13, from five different institutions, were invited to talk about their relationships with the other in the city. in this project, named city workshops, the youth debated about their difficulties in living together with the other and about the conflicts and the strangeness inherent in this relationship. through the analysis of group narratives, it was possible to establish the most significant figures of 'otherness' such as 'the loner', 'the poor' and 'the fox', which, regarded here as 'scales', determine new productions of meaning in the relationship i- the other in the city. we discussed how these figures of otherness are related to conflicts produced by contemporary demands, such as, individualization and the need to be included in the consumption society.

Abstract: the present work discusses the framework of scientific policies for graduate education in the brazilian context in view of the modes of subjectivization engendered for university researchers/lecturers. privatization, specialization and individualization seem to constitute three main dimensions of these policies establishing collective identifications and actions conducive to an acceptance of the status quo, and to an attitude of 'reconciliation' with the system of scientific development in the country. the paper evokes the place of the intellectual, as seen by russell jacoby and edward said, as a necessary counterpoint to the academic task which has become engulfed today by policies of good management. two issues are brought forward to illustrate the argument: the relation of graduate with undergraduate courses and the internationalization of graduate education.

Abstract: the present work analyses from a critical point of view the notion of political socialization and its current issues about the distancing of youth in relation to politics. the political socialization concept is analyzed according to two main aspects: first, it is discussed its assumptions in relation to an identity theory of subjectivity that essentializes subjective positions related to age, and it is based on a developmental perspective on human trajectory. second, it is discussed how political socialization studies presuppose a division between public and private spaces, where the relations of intergenerational transmission are restricted to the private space, and thus, do not take into account youth contribution to the decisions of collective life.

Abstract: this article focuses on one of the aspects of a project carried out in a school located in the south zone of the city of rio de janeiro, with three groups of young people between 14 and 16 years of age, taking as its analytical outline the importance of the researcher's non-neutrality and his / her consequent influence in the perception of group demands and in the qualification of the possibilities for creative expression, with a view towards the recognition of the other and the facilitation of the process of elaboration of the relationship with the external world. thus, we choose as our viewpoint the explanation of one of the five moments of the project in question, which is to say, that which is specifically related to the "collective doing", experienced through a "creative doing". the ideas of d. w. winnicott have special significance here, mainly regarding his concepts of "transitional objects and transitional phenomena".

Abstract: study based on the evidence that children and adults lack references on how they deal with each other, which has being showed by the young generation through confronting attitudes toward adults. when the historical route of authority is considered, one perceives it is not tied to one meaning only but takes different contours. this article aims to discuss the relations between authority and hierarchy, authority and power, and authority and foundation, which help to understand that what used to be showed as "the truth" does not give account of the imperfections of current human relationships, appointing other possible constructions of the authority sense.

Abstract: Os jovens criam representa es sobre a cidade a partir dos seus percursos e das rela es que estabelecem com as pessoas e com o espa o. A diversidade da cidade pode ser vista como algo negativo, gerando medo e inseguran a. Nesse artigo, investigamos como os jovens enfrentam os riscos da vida na cidade: que a es e estratégias usam, que espa os elegem freqüentar, que sentimentos emergem quando est o em lugares onde se sentem mais ou menos amea ados. Para isso, realizamos entrevistas semi-estruturadas com sete jovens (quadro rapazes e três mo as), com idades entre 18 e 28 anos, moradores de diferentes bairros e regi es da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Na análise, percebemos como o sentimento de inseguran a está relacionado aos vínculos que os jovens estabelecem com o espa o, com o seu conhecimento e o sentimento de pertencimento a um lugar. Discutimos o conflito vivido por alguns jovens de querer aproveitar as riquezas e a diversidade da cidade, sem se tornar indiferente à realidade de outras pessoas que sofrem com a violência e a precariedade dos lugares de onde vivem. Para outros jovens, a experiência urbana é marcada pelo desejo de ter acesso aos bens culturais e simbólicos da cidade, sem sofrer preconceitos e discrimina o.
