Abstract: Three commercial feeds for ostrich, fish and horses were evaluated during the period from September 2005 to January 2006, with respect to their microbiological and physicochemical characteristics. The samples were collected in Industry, Ideal Distributor and Problem Distributor and storage conditions was considered as treatment. To define the storage conditions of rations were evaluated ambient temperature and relative air humidity in site. Data analyzed were mold and yeast count, humidity and water activity. The experiment was entirely randomized design, with factorial arranged 3x3x5. Rations stored on the Distributor Problem showed significantly higher evels in the molds and yeasts, humidity and activity of water than those stored in Industry and Ideal Distributor. Among rations, there were differences in molds and yeast count, but no difference in moisture and water activity. In the experiment a significant interaction between treatments and rations evaluated, as well as between treatment and storage time. In conclusion, environmental conditions during storage influenced the microbiological aspects of physical, chemical and commercial foods intended for animal feed.
Phytogenic additive as an alternative to growth promoters in broiler chickens
Scheuermann, Gerson Neudí;Cunha Junior, Anildo;Cypriano, Lucas;Gabbi, Alexandre Mossate;
Ciência Rural , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-84782009000200032
Abstract: this study evaluated a phytogenic feed additive for broiler chickens. a total of 1,632 broiler chicks were distributed into four treatments: negative control (without growth promoter); positive control (avilamycine, 10ppm + colistin, 15ppm); and two alternative treatments with 150ppm of phytogenic additive, one with a reduced ca and p levels diet (pa-r1) and the other with lower energy, and amino acids, besides ca and p (pa-r2). the trial was conducted with 12 replicates, each consisted of a pen with 34 birds. the alternative diets showed body weight intermediate to the two controls at 42 days, with no significant (p>0.05) treatment effect on feed conversion ratio. no treatment differences (p>0.05) on carcass yield and composition was observed. there was a tendency of abdominal fat lipids saturation, when the phytogenic additive was used, as possible consequence of a decreased level of soybean oil in the diets. a difference (p<0.001) on ingredient consumption profile was observed between the treatments. all together, this study showed a possibility to reduce the cost of total feed used to produce a broilers or a ton of body weight by the utilization of the tested phytogenic additive.

Abstract: psychology, no less, than psycho-analysis claims to be a science. notwithstanding that, its explanations are more probably characterized by its aesthetic nature. moreover, the compelling dimension belongs intrinsically to the freudian theory. this, however, doesn't argue against a systematical study of its concepts.

Abstract: the aim of the present study was to investigate the ways boys from popular groups represent their families. for this purpose, a qualitative study was conducted, using the drawing-story technique. six boys aged from eight to twelve incomplete years participated in the study. data was assessed through content analysis. results showed that boys have an internal perception of an idealized family that does not correspond to the real one. the figure of the mother received a greater investment when compared to the other members of the family. on the other hand, the father was not emphasized, and was approached in the same way as the other family members, pointing out his fragile position. some members of the extended family were also present, indicating the importance of these people regarding the organization and functioning of families of popular groups.

Reduction of systemic risk by means of Pigouvian taxation

Quantitative Finance , 2014,
Abstract: We analyze the possibility of reduction of systemic risk in financial markets through Pigouvian taxation of financial institutions which is used to support the rescue fund. We introduce the concept of the cascade risk with a clear operational definition as a subclass and a network related measure of the systemic risk. Using financial networks constructed from real Italian money market data and using realistic parameters, we show that the cascade risk can be substantially reduced by a small rate of taxation and by means of a simple strategy of the money transfer from the rescue fund to interbanking market subjects. Furthermore, we show that while negative effects on the return on investment ($ROI$) are direct and certain, an overall positive effect on risk adjusted return on investments ($ROI^{RA}$) is visible. Please note that \emph{the taxation} is introduced as a monetary/regulatory, not as a fiscal measure, as the term could suggest. \emph{The rescue fund} is implemented in a form of a common reserve fund.
Placing Place: Speech in José María Arguedas’ The Foxes  [PDF]

Advances in Literary Study (ALS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/als.2013.14011
Abstract:

Critical approximations carried out from the global south entail spatial and epistemological challenges to the hegemony of western modernity. This article argues that José María Arguedas’ The Fox from Up Above and the Fox from Down Below(1971) produces a language that embodies and transforms an Aris-totelian conception of speech. Written in an avant-garde vernacular, the novelcongeals a multiplicity of worldviews, utopias, and mercantile discourses that converge in Chimbote-Peru. Guided by Jacques Ran-ciere’s Disagreement(1998) and Dissensus(2010), the analysis is divided in two stages. The first stage examines the notion of speech and a constitutive wrong that establishes a community. The second stage addresses the symbiotic relationship of speech, its place of enunciation, and the conception of an alternate social order. The analysis places Arguedas incritical dialogue with Aristotelian speech, Ranciere’s notion of wrong, and the emergence or failure of claiming speech in canonical history.

Ice volume distribution and implications on runoff projections in a glacierized catchment

Hydrology and Earth System Sciences (HESS) & Discussions (HESSD) , 2012,
Abstract: A dense network of helicopter-based ground-penetrating radar (GPR) measurements was used to determine the ice-thickness distribution in the Mauvoisin region. The comprehensive set of ice-thickness measurements was combined with an ice-thickness estimation approach for an accurate determination of the bedrock. A total ice volume of 3.69 ± 0.31 km3 and a maximum ice thickness of 290 m were found. The ice-thickness values were then employed as input for a combined glacio-hydrological model forced by most recent regional climate scenarios. This model provided glacier evolution and runoff projections for the period 2010–2100. Runoff projections of the measured initial ice volume distribution show an increase in annual runoff of 4% in the next two decades, followed by a persistent runoff decrease until 2100. Finally, we checked the influence of the ice-thickness distribution on runoff projections. Our analyses revealed that reliable estimates of the ice volume are essential for modelling future glacier and runoff evolution. Wrong estimations of the total ice volume might even lead to deviations of the predicted general runoff trend.
