Abstract: the study was carried out in the county of astorga, pr, brazil, in the nossa senhora de aparecida farm. the objective was to study the sward characteristics and forage accumulation of tanzania grass, deferred and after grazed from 07/23 to 09/18/1999, under different sward height levels. the experimental design was a completely randommized, with two replications. the treatments were four levels of sward height: t1=20, t2=40, t3=60 and t4=80 cm. however, the true sward height levels were used for analysis statistics; t1r1=26,3, t1r2=24,6, t2r1=47,9, t2r2=42,5, t3r1=55,8, t3r2=61,7, t4r1=69,2 e t4r2=71,4 cm. results indicate that: forage mass and green culm mass increased of the positive linear way with increased of sward height. there was no effect of sward height levels on the forage accumulation.
Piassi, Luís Paulo;
Ciência & Educa??o (Bauru) , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-73132011000400002
Abstract: in this paper we intend to perform a critical analysis of citizenship and inclusion concepts presented in the brazilian national curriculum parameters (pcn) for science teaching. such analysis will be based on theoretical references from critical pedagogies and on classroom academic research. our intention is to demonstrate the limited character of pcn's proposals for improving both school citizenship and inclusion in science teaching from a sociocultural perspective. based on this, and considering academic studies in school environments, we show that the university may have a greater role in proposing more effective curricular changes in order to meet social demands.
A fic o científica e o estranhamento cognitivo no ensino de ciências: estudos críticos e propostas de sala de aula Science fiction and the cognitive estrangement in science teaching: critical studies and proposals for the classroom
This paper is based on the proposal for teaching science through the use of science fiction and relies on references to literary critics of the genre, arguing that the greatest contribution to science education is not situated either in scientific precision, nor in didactic intentions nor even in the potential play this kind of narrative brings. Without disregarding the importance of these aspects, we argue that the main reason for bringing science fiction to science classes derives from the mechanisms of producing fiction that involves a special way of thinking about the natural world. Such mechanisms are based on assumptions that promote a so-called cognitive estrangement, which is able to promote in students reasoning as the starting point for a critical approach for teaching not only concepts and laws, but also epistemological and sociocultural implications and motivations.
Melione, Luís Paulo Rodrigues;
Revista Brasileira de Epidemiologia , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-790X2004000400009
Abstract: transportation accidents have become one of the main causes of death in brazil in past years. the implementation of the new brazilian traffic code was expected to reduce both the number of accidents and victims. this study aimed to identify the trend in hospital morbidity and mortality due to transportation accidents in s?o josé dos campos, s?o paulo, brazil, and to evaluate whether hospitalizations in the unified health system (sus) facilities was a useful follow-up tool for traffic accidents. mortality rates (1996 to 2002) and hospitalization rates (1998 to 2002) due to transportation accidents were calculated from two sus information systems, the mortality information system (sim) and the hospital information system (sih-sus). the study also used authorizations for hospitalization (aih) databases presented by the municipality, per year of hospitalization and withou re-admissions, and those paid by the ministry of health, per year of competence and without re-admissions. the mortality rate decreased between 1997 and 2002. both aih hospitalization rates (presented and paid) fell between 1998 and 2000 and increased as of 2001. this fact shows problems regarding management of traffic violence in the city. the sih-sus is proposed as a source of complementary information on transportation accidents.

A Proposal for the Description of Individual Course Units
Joao Paulo Barros,Luís Gomes,Luís Garcia
International Journal of Engineering Pedagogy , 2013, DOI: 10.3991/ijep.v3is1.2420
Abstract: The description of individual course units is here presented as a privileged way to improve course quality by fostering teacher reflection. To that end, the paper presents a structured way to specify the several parts that compose the course unit descriptions. The most important parts are made strongly interconnected as a way to maximize coherence and force additional reflection during course design. The paper presents a concrete template that expands the recommendations and course unit data present in the ECTS User’s Guide. Besides including the usual course data, the template guides the course designer towards the specification of several alignments between the data. These alignments make the course unit descriptions self justifying and internally coherent. Additionally,, a grading strategy is briefly presented and the intended learning outcomes are classified according to the European Qualification Framework for Lifelong Learning.
Laccases stabilization with phosphatidylcholine liposomes  [PDF]

Journal of Biophysical Chemistry (JBPC) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jbpc.2012.31010
Abstract: In recent years, there has been an upsurge of interest in enzyme treatment of textile fibres. Enzymes are globular proteins whose catalytic function is due to their three dimensional structure. For this reason, stability strategies make use of compounds that avoid dismantling or distorting protein 3D structures. This study is concerned with the use of microencapsulation techniques to optimize enzyme stabilization. Laccases were embedded in phophatidylcholine liposomes and their encapsulation capacity was assessed. Their enzymatic activity and stability were analyzed, comparing free-enzymes, enzymes in liposomes, and the lipid fraction separated from the aqueous fraction. An increase in their encapsulation efficiency was found at higher lipid/laccase ratios. Relative activity of enzyme-containing vesicles has also been shown to be retained much more than that of free native enzymes. The loss of activity of laccases entrapped in the vesicles in the total stability process is lower than 10% compared with 40% to 60% of loss of free-laccases after heating the samples for 3 days. Laccase stabilization could be of interest to future textile or cosmetic applications because of their potential for environmentally friendly oxidation technologies.
Piassi, Luís Paulo;Pietrocola, Maurício;
Educa??o e Pesquisa , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-97022009000300008
Abstract: works of science fiction have been pointed as an important resource in the teaching of science. however, more than a possible didactic resource to facilitate the learning of science, science fiction constitutes in itself a modality of discourse about science, insofar as it expresses through cinema and literature, interests and concerns about current scientific issues that impact directly on the socio-cultural sphere. it is, nevertheless, common to regard the possible didactic quality of fictional works only in terms of the supposed scientific correction of the concepts they present, an attitude that ignores the conditions of production of the fictional discourse. in the present work a methodology is proposed to analyze the content of works of science fiction in their relation to scientific knowledge, trying to reveal through elements of literary analysis and semiotics the process of construction of what we called counterfactual elements. the present analysis views the work of fiction not just as a simple didactic element, but as a discourse governed by fictional mechanisms, and that makes use of these mechanisms to convey positions, ideas and debates around current scientific themes. as a result, a categorization of these elements was developed based on the greimasian semiotics, employing a set of distinctive features assumed as lexemes in the definition of the categories. by representing distinct narrative mechanisms, each one of these categories has the potential to be explored differently in didactic terms.

Revista Contabilidade & Finan?as , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-70772002000100006
Abstract: starting from the presupposition that the economic result is the best efficiency measure for any kind of entity, this paper seeks to approach the problem about the evaluation of federal education institutions from the perspective of the economic management model, highlighting the conceptual and operational advantages of establishing an evaluation criterion in accordance with economic results. on the basis of the performance evaluation analysis realized by some scholars in higher education institutions, we describe some of the main deficiencies of the current evaluation models adopted by the government, mainly because they do not allow for the identification of the real contributions generated by these institutions in terms of social benefits that can be expressed as an economic value. we present an operational model for determining the economic result for this kind of entity, as well as an operational information model, highlighting the budgetary process and demonstrating its importance when generating information on the previewed and actual results, as a way of helping the management process, as well as when implementing corrective actions by managers for them to be able to optimize the results of their managerial actions, in search of the best economic result for the federal higher education institutions.
